Staff were super nice and helpful. Even though the facility was a bit old, the room, the onsen and the buffet area were clean. For recommendation, the low temperature onsen is worth a visit. Right after the hot onsen, I had tried this low temperature one and found it amazing.

We stay here to celebrate our anniversary and take hotel package with dinner: Kumano beef course. The food is great, kumano beef texture is melting in mouth and the seafood are fresh. They have private family bath (2 hour with fee around 1.200 yen, better book in advance) and the onsen facility (there is outdoor onsen that facing the shirahama beach, its very nice view) The hotel access is very easy, you can take Meiko bus from Shirahama St for 340 yen/person. The bus stop is very close to the hotel, just 1-2 minute walk. If you need the direction guide you can ask the nice lady at the tourism Shirahama St., she is very helpful. Once you arrive at the hotel, you can walk around to the beach, the Shirahama beach is just right in front of the hotel. The sand is white, but no water sports here. This is our first experience of ryokan hotel, the room is spacious, on the evening the hotel staff will arrange the futon for you. The futon is actually quite comfort, its not like I imagine would be hard to sleep at tatami. We really enjoy the stay and have a good relaxation here.

We stayed two nights June 8-9th in the corner suite. Very spacious room for a family of 4! Two full sized beds , and two twin size futons on tatami mat. Lovely balcony, with breathtaking views of the ocean! Room has mini fridge, large TV, closet space, tub and shower. Bonus is that rooms comes with free phone to use for internet, and calls to US, Japan, and throughout ...

Lovely balcony, with breathtaking views of the ocean! Room has mini fridge, large TV, closet space, tub and shower. Bonus is that rooms comes with free phone to use for internet, and calls to US, Japan, and throughout Asia! Facilities are nice and most of the hotel and rooms have been remodeled. Note that the swimming pool is ONLY open during Summer , which I think for Japan is July and part of August? There’s a fun family game area on the 2nd floor which includes table tennis, pool tables, kids play area, music room, golf simulator , and fooz ball until 10pm. On the 3rf floor there is a karaoke room, and drinking/smoking room. Of course not to mention the onsens on the basement floor. Washers and dryers are available, too. A once a day (around 10am) free Shuttle from hotel to multiple stops is available. Dinner buffet selection ok.

Shirahama Beach is right in front of the hotel, which gives the best experience to enjoy the open-air bath and enjoy the panoramic beach view at the same time. Facilities are well maintained despite the hotel has its history. Staff is very nice and helpful and made you feel welcomed during the stay. Will come back again when visiting Shirahama next time!

Very family and handicapped friendly Resort with activities for everyone. Nice onsen, swimming pool, golf, games, rock climbing for little kids, shops, dining... Good spread of buffet breakfast and dinner. Diners were given choice of timing to take their meals to ensure it’s not too crowded. There’s even a show of tuna cutting by the chefs. Stayed in Japanese style room though small was very clean and comfortable. I had initially thought it would be a shared bathroom but was pleasantly surprised that it has a private bathroom with a sunken bath tub access from the balcony. Easy access to various sights around Shirahama. It’s got a huge car park as well, really good for those driving. Only negative point was that there’s only one lift serving the whole hotel and it would probably be a long wait during peak season.

I was a bit concerned when I saw no review in such well located hotel. later, I found it was bought over by a Chinese owner and changed the name of the hotel. the room is spacious and comfortable, however, it needs fixing of details over the years, probably for tour group as there are parking for tour bus, breakfast is good except the tables can be better arranged.

It is located near the Shirahama Beach and also the bus stop “Shirahama Beach”. However, there is no elevator there. There was a staff who took your luggage upstairs but no for check out. Staff provided general service and can communicate with limited English. The hotel is old overall.

Great, friendly, helpful staff. Little English is spoken here but they have instructions written in English so every thing was fine. Nice onsen furo pools. One side had jaccuzi bubbling pool, 3 other pools and a nice outdoor pool. The other side had only 1 large pool with a fancy outdoor pool. They switch sides everyday so one gets to try both sides. Onsen open 0600-1000 and 1500-2400. WI-FI was fast but was available only in the lobby. From the hotel one can walk the beach route down to Sandanbeki cliffs in about 2.5 hours enjoying a lot of scenic spots along the way – of course then there is the 2.5 hours walk back or catch a bus! Cab ride from Shirahama station to hotel was approx. 1600-yen. There is a shuttle bus that serves approx 20 hotels around the area but there was no explanation in English available at this time. The ride from the station to the hotels I believe are first-come-first-served. I tried to use that shuttle to get from the hotel to the station and was told I’d need a reservation but it booked for the time I wanted to go to the station.

He asked me to park on a gravel lot next to the hotel and to tie back the entry rope after driving into the parking. Fine! One second after I parked, his fingers hammered onto my side mirror, asking to fold it. Jesus! I shut the engine and got off the car, when yelling back, "Okay, Okay, I got you! The mirror will fold by itself! " I armed the car alarm and the mirror folded. Every other customer was allowed to park at the parking space in front of the hotel. At late night, there was 1 space left. He asked me to park back. I felt like a humble servant.

We didn’t arrive till late in the evening. When we finally got there, the owner and his crew were already waiting outside of the hotel. The reservation included dinner & breakfast with a high quality of food standards. The room size is very comfortable and luxurious. The room comes with a private pool having an amazing view of the ocean! We were intended to offer some tips to the staffs but was rejected by the owner. Because they think that the biggest support is our enjoyment of this stay. I will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who’s planing their trip to Shirahama!

Because you will also dine and use all the facilities in the Sarakuso Hotel which rate is doubled. Room is spacious a bit old and need to revamp. There is no bathroom in the room (but has toilet) so bathing has to be done in the public bath (onsen) if you don't mind. I won't mind staying here again next time.

It's a beautiful place, comfortable and clean. 10 min walk from Shirahama beach. Their shared bath is awesome, lot of massage devices for you to relax. Just not sure if all of it is worth the price. And the wifi was only available in common areas which was disappointing for the price you pay. Really great staff though. It's really only a question of price.

They served us with a private room with fresh and good quality of food!! personally think it's a quite good experience in traditional Japanese meal. ( as it's so convenience for tourist to enjoy everything without extra research and in such a relaxing way as they all prepared for you!! for location, very convenience for people who drive. a little walk is needed for one without a car. you can simply get off from bus stop 草原之湯 and have a 10-15 mins walk ( up to the mountain ).

After I mentioned that my wife was partial to a glass of ‘UMESH’, plum wine/liqueur on the rocks, the young lady in charge put out a bottle of her father’s home made UMESH for us to try. As we were getting ready to leave, she very kindly offered us a lift to the railway station even though there is a frequent bus service. Using the shower in a closed-off outhouse was absolutely no problem and completely safe.

Hotel is placed really on the beach. Staff is really great- receptionist translated me all hotel things in my mother language, not just in English ( that time was not so many guests in hotel but still it was a very kind gesture from her). Breakfast ist delicious ( 1. Day japanisse, second more continental)...and internet is working good.

For examples I've delivered a Wi-Fi router to the hotel in advance, and I told the hotel staff I would like to get my parcel. They have spent hour an hour to think what I was talking about and keep saying there were no parcel for me. Finally I shown them the tracking message to prove my parcel was arrived and then they start looking for it. Their attitude were nice, yet they need to improve their abilities to communicate with travellers from other country.

We had a wonderful time staying at this serviced apartment. The owner is very friendly and nice. He took time to explain to us different places of interest in Shirahama. On the day we were to go to Wakayama city, he very kindly offered to take us to the train station. There are also lots of restaurants nearby and a free foot onsen.

He helped us out with a lot of other stuff as well making us feel very much cared for. His english is'nt excellent, but more than good enough. He has an excellent selection of wine and his expertise is a hidden gem in the most unlikely of places. The rooms are japanese style but with good space. The toilets, kitchen and showers are all very clean and comforting. He cooks small meals. They're not fantastic, but good enough if you don't feel like going out. AC is charged by the hour, something which might cost you if you like it very cold, but he was friendly enough to start us off with some coins. The house used to be his grandfathers and now fathers souvenir shop. The downstairs now looks like a cafe and souvenir shop with a vintage feel. It's a bit strange, but also cosy. If you go to Shirahama, you have to stay here!

this tiny local hostel really surprise me a lot. i expect it to be an old hostel, but it turns out to be a really clean and fantastic japanese style place. it locates exactly next to the JR shirahama station where it is easy to find and extremely convenient for transport to other places. highly recommended if one would like to search for a local japanese place.

Booked this hotel at last min due to schedule, so I wasn't expecting too much. But my stay was great. The hotel itself is right next to the bus stop from/to Shirahama station, the beach and a Lawson. Right after the hot onsen, I had tried this low temperature one and found it amazing.

We traveled to Marriott from Shirahama station via bus. The bus stop to get off is S15. The day we arrived was extremely windy and cold. Marriott is located on top of a hill, so we had to take our luggage and drag it all the way up the steep slope. We stay here to celebrate our anniversary and take hotel package with dinner: Kumano beef course. The food is great, kumano beef texture is melting in mouth and the seafood are fresh. They have private family bath (2 hour with fee around 1.200 yen, better book in advance) and the onsen facility (there is outdoor onsen that facing the shirahama beach, its very nice view...

It is located near the Shirahama Beach and also the bus stop “Shirahama Beach”. However, there is no elevator there. There was a staff who took your luggage upstairs but no for check out. Staff provided general service and can communicate with limited English. The hotel is old overall.

The hotel is spacious and neat. Facilities well. However hard to communicate with the staff in English. Unable to have a dinner without reservation. For examples I've delivered a Wi-Fi router to the hotel in advance, and I told the hotel staff I would like to get my parcel. They have spent hour an hour to think what I was talking about and keep saying there were no ...

I booked the single room for one night. The room is spacious but without toilet and bathroom. Fortunately, the shared toilet and washroom were not far from my room. There is indoor and outdoor onsen, both are very good, and they are the main reason I chose this hotel. There are other facilities, like laundry room, karaoke room, table tennis, clip-doll machine and massage chair. There is also a big car park. If you do not drive, it takes around 20-25mins to get to the hotel from the shirahama station by local bus. A big con is that there is only a few store/restaurant near the hotel.

Hotel is right in front of Shirahama beach so location is fantastic and view is superb. Staff is friendly and helpful. Value for money as cheap for such great view and food and location.
