Traveler impressions of Siquijor Island

More about Siquijor Island

Legend has it that this small island in the Visayas rose from the sea during a thunder storm. Whatever the case may be, Siquijor Island is a great vacation destination, complete with great diving and scuba diving spots and some of the most picturesque beaches in the region. There are several boats arriving from Dumaguete daily, so it’s relatively easy to get into Siquijor.

Among Siquijor Island’s popular destinations is Salagdoong Beach, a favorite among visitors and locals alike. While there are many other beaches around this island, this one features additional touches such as water slides and diving sites.

One of the interesting attractions of this island is the Old Enchanted Balete Tree, believed by locals to be a source of enchantment. Whether or not that’s true, this is a great place to take in some of the unique natural landscape of the island and see this impressive tree as well. There are many other beaches and diving sites around this island, so the best thing to do is rent a motorcycle or a bicycle and explore as much of the island as possible.
