Syracuse hotels & places to stay

Sadly our stay was foreshortened because the hotel was closing for the winter. We had an accepted booking for 4 nights but had to leave after only 2 nights. Would certainly have wished to stay longer. The food was delicious and very well presented. The hotel is in a peaceful garden with a lovely poolside area. We would definitely wish to return for a longer stay next time.

Waw! What a place...👍😘 An old but still beautiful hotel with lots of atmosphere. It takes you back in time, but at the same time takes you “upstairs”. Everything works, nice Staff, FANTASTIC location on old roman ruins and with a beautiful park - even thougt it is not in the center of Siracusa. Fantastic breakfast! Nice pool area, access to - though not free - nice private beach with bar/restaurant. Free safe parking. We would come back anytime...😃

My stay was very comfortable at Hotel Posta. The room was very clean, nicely decorated and the strong A/C was a wonderful break from the summer heat. The hotel is conveniently located near the morning market and bridges to Ortigia so it is easy to find. Walking from the train station took about 15 minutes. It was also easy to walk to the center of Ortigia for dinner and shopping.

Never have I walked into a hotel that costs Euro 200 per night (approx) and been disappointed by a bed before! It was a military camp bed! Not a proper base, not even big enough to fit the headboard. The floors were sticky. The shower head and taps were sticky. Out came the Dettol wipes - seriously. The hotel is in a great location directly overlooking the sea. The breakfast sun terrace is idyllic in the morning calm and for an evening aperitif. The hotel is quirky and has some great old tiles on the floor, lovely old furniture, antique mirrors and has attempted to keep some of the baroque feel of the past. But then for some reason the doors look like a child has painted them and look like the carpenter wasn't paid to make them actually fit the frames. The paintings are quite amusing, until I looked up and there was what looked like some balletic vampires above us. Erm, ok. I personally think there are better options in the vicinity.

Architecture and ambience of the Hotel is unique for sure, well decorate 15th century palazzo. The location was also Great, beautiful sea views! The Church contiguous to the hotel (internal access) is also Fantastic! Rooms were comfortable and staff extremely friendly. Parking is a problem all over Ortigia Island as it is a ancient (Beautiful) design which obviously did not contemplate the needs of large vehicles. Breakfast could be a little better with the simple inclusion of a hot plate such as scrambled eggs for instance. Overall stay in Syracuse was a highlight of our 3 weeks in Italy.

We absolutely loved this property. It is beautiful, well-maintained and conveniently located just a few steps from the Parco Archeologico della Neapolis, the real attraction of Syracuse for any archaeology enthusiast. Our Deluxe King Room looked over the ancient Roman burial grounds and was spacious. The thick glass windows shielded all the street noises. The owner of the property, Dario, has gone out of his way to help and accommodate our needs - from picking us up from a nearby gas station when we got lost, to loaning us his personal SIM card and half a dozen adapters so we could recharge all the devices we brought along. Breakfasts were lovely and served by the highly service-oriented and charming Stefania. We enjoyed the 30-minute walk to and from Syracuse city center because it was a good exercise for us, but we understand why this would be an issue for some people. For those traveling with a rental car, the ability to have a reserved parking space on site is a big plus.

I would recommend Hotel Livingston to anyone wishing to stay in Syracuse. The staff were extremely friendly and provided excellent guidance for exploring the area.

A very nice modern hotel close to all sight seeing activities. Parking in front of the hotel, breakfast is good, room is very clean. I can recommend the hotel if you have the budget.

the building is historic and has been caringly restored with a high sense of tradition. guest rooms are small appartments with a small kitchen area and table and chairs. there is no evening hotel restarant but there are many restaurants in the area. reception is not 24 hours so new visitors expecting to check in after the early evening should telephone ahead to make arrangements.

Excellent service and great personal touch by Martina who is very helpful to all guests. Beautifully designed and very close to the heart of Ortigia. Breakfast wAs very well managed by her staff and I can recommend the place highly

This is a B&B which is very centrally located, yet on a quiet street. The room & bed were comfortable. As we love to travel, we are unwilling to over pay for accommodations. This fit our needs. Owner Salvatore was available to us & went the extra mile to help us out. The only downside is that your view window faces the Bay & promenade (a double edged sword)...you will want earplugs on Saturday night as much partying carries on until early morning. We will stay there again as we found it a very good choice & love Ortygia.

Very friendly staff! Good location, ok breakfast but could have been more. And they didn't refill cupcakes/cakes (we woke up at 8ish one morning). Bed was squeaky and walls were very thin. I could hear the receptionist talking outside. But humungous bed! and clean!

As the stuffs are always in the reception desk, I could talk about stay, sights and more. Facilities are enough and useful especially bathroom. It has a big common space, so I stayed very satisfied.

We were pleasantly surprised by what a lovely boutique hotel this is. The breakfast options are abundant and the staff are very friendly. The rooftop has a much-welcomed view with ocean breeze. It's definitely worth a revisit.

The staff are kind and hospitable. I love the restaurant they recommended us to try the seafood soup. The room was clean and cozy. It's a shame that it was raining when we were in the town. Although we couldn't enjoy the breakfast at the roof in the morning, the B&B offered us an excellent breakfast in the room. Will definitely choose here when we come back again.

this hotel is lovely, it's decorated in baroque style with mosaic all over.. the room was clean with a lovely bathroom with jacuzzi bath and a balcony overlooking the sea.. it's soo closed to the sea that we could hear the waves breaking into the shore.. I heard many of the guests saying that this is the best hotel in Ortigia and we totally agree with that.. The spa (complimentary) was lovely and a real threat after a day strolling around town.. the hotel is situated just behind the main square and right on the seafront where all the restaurants and bars are.. great location and very good value for money..we booked the room at very discounted prices but we were still given a room on the top floor with sea view..

This is a simple hotel in a good location. Quite near the archaeological park witht he Greek Theatre - a highlight of Syracuse. Very helpful staff.

Nice Hotel in an old building. Our room was clean and quiet. The breakfast was delicious and when we wished something special, we got it. The city has a lot of interesting place: Greek theater, Archaeological Museum, Early Christian catacombs. There are small alleys, taverns in the old town Ortigia. It has also an ancient cathedral, which was earlier a Greek temple: 2500 year history in one building. Syracuse is an ideal place for explore eastern part of Sicily: Taormina, Etna, Gole Alcantara, Cava Grande del Cassibile, and several beaches: Avola, Vendicari, Arenella, etc.

Positive - clean, large, nice room - king size bed - A/C working very well - large balcony with sitting (not all rooms have it) - free WiFi in the room - parking (free) available just 2 minutes by foot - just 10 - 15min. of walk to Theatro Greco and sightseeing - good value (we paid 65Eur/1 night, including breakfast) - very good check in procedure, very helpful and informative receptionist (speaks very well english) Negative - bit to far to Ortigia (app. 20min walk), but as a holidaymakers we had plenty of time... - breakfast are ok, just the fried eggs and bacon didnt taste good... - entrance to the hotel (need upgrade)

it was overall a pleasant stay except for 2 things. they douse room freshener on the curtains to "aromatize" the room. and the smell is too strong and smells like they are trying to disguise something. another problem is the breakfast, which i generally good. but the coffee is at a self-service station with only one machine. i was there in may, not in the super hi-season and there was a huge line for the coffee. it took standing in line for 10 minutes in order to make a coffee for myself. they should have more machines or have their staff take orders.

The owner is warm & friendly. The breakfast is simple but rustic & local which I like. The location is relatively convenient as Ortiga is not that big but there are lots of restaurants nearby and one can hear lots of happy noises at night.

Near street, so very noisy in the midnight and 5:00 am in the next morning. The parking lot is out side of the old town, EUR10 for one day.

The staff was very friendly, the rooms clean, though there was no window in ours. The location is very convenient for those that want to do a sightseeing tour around the city. The best impression was breakfast. Nothing special in terms of food, but everything is fresh and tasty and one may eat outside on a spacious balcony overviewing an old street with church bells chiming in the distance. Unforgettable atmosphere)

This is a very comfortable hotel situated on the tip of a peninsula with a great view across the bay to Siracusa. Enjoy the service of drinks on the beach or by the pool and be prepared to spend some time there just relaxing. If you just want a base to visit Siracusa, then this is probably not the best place to stay.
