Best hotels & accommodations in Takamatsu

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We stayed in this hotel in mid August. The hotel is still very new, and the facilities were clean, the staff were very engaging and polite. (Kudos to outstanding service from one of the hotel staff, a Shanghainese lady who speaks fluent Japanese. She recommended a few locations to visit in Takamatsu and around the islands.) We stayed ...

Location is excellent, just nearby the "main street", or which is the only shopping area in Takamatsu. I stayed for a night with a double bed, room is clean, price is reasonable. The only thing that I feel a bit disappointed is that the hotel doesn't come with hotspring. I supposed Takamatsu is a place for travelers relaxing and enjoying hot spring, should be really di...

Location is very nice ,just in front of the Takamatsu JR station and Port, I can walk to Port and Takamatsu castle within 5 minutes. There are also a lots of good restaurant nearby. Room space is a little bit small as other commercial hotels are. But it also have a bathtub, so I think it's pretty nice hotel in Takamatsu

The airport limousine bus stop (Hyogomachi) is located right in front of the hotel. It is the second stop from the Takamatsu station. You can walk to takamatsu station/port/bus terminal which is really convenient. The shopping street is also beside the hotel, so you can do some shopping there. Room was clean and neat with free bottled water.

This hotel is one of the nest hotels I’ve stayed at while traveling around Japan. Rooms are beautiful with great amenities and perfect for 1-2 nights. Across from Takamatsu Station and Takamatsu Port and Takamatsu Castle ruins - the views are breathtaking if you are lucky to get a room that faces port side. Hotel had laundry facilities and vending machines. Lower floor...

This hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. The location is a short bus ride from the JR rail station and easy to find in a central location, with a bus stop 20 metres from the door. The reception staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. The room was more spacious than we had come to expect in Japan and the fittings and features clean, new and of a high stand...

The hotel offer breathtaking view overseeing Seto Inland Sea. Best to watch sunset from your hotel room, sea view facing. The staff is friendly and kind. The breakfast served traditional Japanese breakfast but what make it stand out is the three different color drinks red, green and orange in little glass. Really nice presentation. The room is super spacious as we...

I stayed one night at BJ station. Easy to find and Takamatsu station is just 5 mins to go. Staff is helpful and can speak English well. All the facilities are clean and well organized. Room is little small compared to rent fee. At night, voice from other room and outside can be heard and a little bit noisy. Anyway, if I visit to Takamatsu again, I will stay at BJ stati...

We are an American couple traveling to Takamatsu for the first time. The APA Hotel seems to be more designed for Japanese business travelers. However, we found the bed to be comfortable, the facilities to be good, and the location to be pretty good as well. There is an excellent coffee shop located within 5 minutes walking and plenty of restaurants/shopping around as w...

We stayed as wanted a cheap hotel on our way back into Takamatsu after driving around the Iya Valley. The price was excellent and just a 20 min drive back to the train station. Just make sure the room states non smoking. I booked a double which turned out to be a smoking room. Thankfully the room didn't smell of cigarettes. This issue was more a fault of Agoda tha...

Good location: 5-8min from takamatsu chikko (kotoden) station and 10-12 min from JR takamatsu station, good for those who take takamatsu as a transit spot. closest to kataharamachi station (2min walk) and you can spend your time shopping there. Cosy environment, wish to have a common area on the same floor as dormy but not. They offer breakfast at additional price.

It's a long walk from JR Takamatsu Station or Takamatsu-Chikko stations--at least 20-30 minutes. There is a bus that drops off at Lawson only 50 meters from the hotel. Room was bigger than usual for a business hotel. It's no chateau...it's an ordinary building! Good value for money.

I stayed for 2 nights. The capsule has no electric outlet, I need to go to public dining to resting area to charge cell phone. The spa facility is old but sufficient. Smoking in dining area is allowed, so if you are sensitive to the smell, this is probably not good for you. It's about 15-20 minutes walk from Takamatsu station, and 5 minutes walk Kawaramachi Statio...

This hotel is at a twenty minutes walk from the JR station of Yashima. To reach it, you have to walk in a zone with a lot of shops, but only designed for cars. Then you have to take a small road alongside a canal, very inconvenient on foot because it's narrow and cars come in both directions. Next to Yashima station you can climb up Yashima island and visit the Shikoku...

I initially booked this hotel because of the brand name Okura. I only found out later that this hotel has already been transferred to another group. The property will be renamed in Oct. If you are staying here before then, you needa be mindful of this fact. This hotel has been open for nearly half a century. There is no way to hide the age. However, except the ...

Good: Great hotel at an excellent location. Just 8-10 min walk to JR Takamatsu station, Kotoden Chikko station. bust stop and ferry terminal for nearby Islands (Teshima, Naoshima, Megijima, Ogijima and Shodoshima). Very close to popular shopping street in Takamatsu. Very supportive staff. Cons: 1. The Room didn't have a microwave. So we had to ask the front desk to w...

The hotel is just across the road from Takamatsu station. But it's difficult to find at first because the nameplate is only in Japanese. The trick is to cross the road at the 2nd zebra crossing (the first one is at the traffic light, in front of a convenient store), and the hotel is just right in front of you. The hotel is run by an old lady who cannot speak English bu...

The hotel is a few block from Takamatsu station. The owner and her staff are very pleasant. My Japanese is still very weak, but we manage to communicate as best as we could. The lady has some basic knowledge of English. My room was very clean, and very tiny as it is the norm, in Japan. overall I had a very pleasant stay. The only tiny problem was the pillow ( that felt...

The location is good in the sense that it lies on one of the main streets, although train stations are not as close as one might like (still very much walkable). Using the hotel as a base to explores other parts of Shikoku most likely involves starting your journey from Takamatsu JR station which requires (start from the hotel) a short walk, then the Kotoden trains, th...

Pros: excellent location (near airport bus station, train station, restaurant and supermarket) good service, public bath room available (very important to the hotel as you can see the cons below) Cons: -only warm conditioner is available, poor ventilation and you cannot adjust the room temperature, it makes you vey hot while you can only open the little window to have...

The owner offered to pick us up at the station, which was awesome. Luckily for us we had the whole house to ourselves. The house was really big and very homey the host was really nice and super helpful, he even drop us off at a shrine which we were planning to walk there. Yes its a bit far from the city but we didn't mind it, it was nice to get out of the city and see ...

The good: A new very large, modern and clean hostel / hotel located very close to the shotengai shopping areas. The dormitory is bright and has good air conditioning, large lockers and stalls to lock wheeled luggage. The bunks are comfortable too and there are showers and laundry machines close by. There is card pass security which works well but would be better if a l...

I had stayed here previously and I came back because I liked it so much. Well organized guesthouse. Check in is at 4pm but you can drop your bags before 12pm. Bed is comfy, the pod is roomy. Bathroom and kitchen are very clean. Staff are friendly and helpful. Free tea and coffee. Laundry available for 200 yen. It’s about a 25 mins walk from JR Takamatsu station which I...

This is the second time I stayed in this hostel. Very clean and comfy, only bad thing is that a bit far from kawaramachi station and takamatsu port, yet using the bus route is the best way to save walking time. I love the common area which is the cafe with many books and information abt travelling and art related programmes. I love the breakfast so much priced at 500ye...

1. Large room 2. Cheap price 3. Airconditioner/heater is good 4. Location is superb 1. Shared toilet 2. Not 24hour shower 6~9 facewash 16~24 shower 3. No freezer in the room Okay Compare with the price it is good Room is clean but floor carpet is bit dirty Supermarket is near and there are good restaurants around hotel Just think about price... you can't com...

Traveler impressions of Takamatsu
Go to Ritsurin Koen (beautiful and historical Japanese gardens). Eat lots of sanuki udon. Hire a bike and take it to some of the nearby smaller islands by ferry.
I was in Takamatsu for less than 24 hours so I can't give a full report but the gardens were great, and Naoshima was a fantastic experience.

More about Takamatsu
This former castle town was once controlled by the Matsudaira Clan during the Edo Period. One of their greatest contributions to the area is the Ritsurin Park, one of Japan’s most beautiful gardens. Although not ranked in amongst the top three gardens of the country, it is still considered a Japanese National Treasure. Other than the beautiful views of the landscape here, there are tea houses, a restaurant, and a folk craft museum. If reaching the city by train via Takamatsu Station, a convenient first stop would be Tamamo Park. Here is where the site of the Takamatsu Castle can be explored. To really delve into the history of the province, a stop at Kagawa Museum exhibits history, traditions, and the people of the past. And for those wanting incredible views, head to Takamatsu Symbol Tower. If looking to explore, a short train ride to the east leads to Yashima, a peninsula that was the site of a major battle and today hosts an open-air museum, Yashima Shrine, and Tamamo Breakwater.
