If you like to stay near the Beach then Kovalam is the place but If you like to stay in the City Hotel near the Temples is a good choice.
Quiet city, with cultural sights and nearby Kovalam and its surrounding beaches to unwind and relax. Nothing more than that !!
Language is problem, people speaks malayalam. While travelling we had problem of language. Other than that travel, trip, people, and culture were excellent in Trivandrum.
Poovar beach and its food was very costly (not worth of money). Can choose only visit to Golden beach. Trivandrum People are very kind and very good in nature.
A very good base to use to explore the area, state bus stands have buses going to all coastal resorts, beaches etc for a very cheap fare, mostly under one pound.
The town itself is noisy and totally polluted by traffic fumes, lots of helpful eyurvedic pharmacies.
TRIVANDRUM is the capital of KERALA. Lot of people milling around; and traffic chaotic as in most parts of INDIA.
There are not many of places for sightseeing from the ASEAN point of view. The key tourist spots are the two temples. Unfortunately, none Hindi tourist are not allow to go inside the temple. One can only view the temple from the outside. Frankly speaking, there is not much to view from the outside!!! The zoo is being recommended as another top tourist spot. It is not impressive, but good walking trail for walking amongst greenery from the dusty city.
nice place with tradition and culture. excellent beaches with privacy and relaxation. we can get good sea food at all restaurants.
multilinguistic city with compatablity of all levels of people.
Trivandrum is not a very exciting city. The pavements are not good and hinders relaxed walking around.
There are not many attractions in the city, a couple of temples, a museum and a nice park, other than that not too much to see. Bars in hotels are ok but like most Indian bars they are so dark you need a torch to find your way to the a bar or the toilet. Shopping is ok some nice department stores now that are good for price, transport is plentiful but chaotic as few working the bus stations speak English and anything written down is incomprehensible other that to whosever wrote it. I have been in worse cities but TRV need a lot more work doing to it.
Though there are many places to see around in this city, the key attractions are the beaches, poovar island and the lord padmanabha swamy temple.
i have visited trivandrum three times in my life and my stay was usually short. i have been to big bazar one of the best shopping mall in trivandrum where we can get everything in one place.
kovalam beach is nearly 12 to 15km from city and really an awesome beach i had a great time there. padhmaswamy temple and lord ganesh temple was quite nearby our hotel. temples were located in east fort area which was about 5 to 10km from our place of stay i used to travel there frequently.
Trivanrum is the capital of Kerala state. It is very big city and has many places to visit. I will recommend to visit Maharaja castle.
It has its unique design and many interesting things. Moreover, there are a lot of temples in the city. One of the biggest is situated near to the Maharaja castle. Unfortunately foreigners are not allowed to visit it.
