Best hotels & accommodations in Varkala

This hotel is in a great location at the end of the stretch of restaurant, hotels and shops on the Varkala cliffs. It's easy to go out for a nice dinner but is really quiet as it's just tucked away. We stayed in the standard room which is a good size and arguably has a better sea view from the balcony then the wooden cottages. If you want to go to a quiet spot there ...

Loved.. Location on best part of beach in varkala. Next to best restaurant in varkala. Hotel restaurant is great also. View from rooms is absolutely stunning Breakfast... great Cleanliness.. room always cleaned and well stocked Staff.. lovely Price, excellent considering location I would not even look elsewhere if I return. This is a charming little resort located right on the beach with spacious rooms, scenic views and some lovely hamocks. Definitely a very safe place for female Travellers to stay. The owner Mr.Sujith was kind enough to get me a scooter get around the area since the resort is 6-7mins drive from the cliff. There pretty much no cons except that you need to have your own v...

Pros Location Room infrastructure Outside infrastructure Complementary breakfast Cons No AC What stood Inda from other hotels Most friendly staff behaviour and room maintainance was extraordinary, complimentary breakfast was excellent English style which you can't afford at any other Place than this in varkala. If they have AC it will be the best of all the hotels in...

The room was very spacious with a huge bathroom, and good sized balcony. 110% cleanliness throughout the hotel. All staff were very friendly and can’t do enough for you. The breakfast was very tasty and an amazing view of the beach!! You can’t help but relax here. After being in North India, this place was just what we needed. Complete value for money. It’s complete pa...

Stayed here for four nights, most enjoyable. Staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. Lovely breakfasts, room service was efficient and nicely prepared meals. Bed was super comfortable. only negative for me was dim lighting in the room. Would definately recommend for cilled out sty in the lovely little town of Varkala. Ideally located, only few min...

Strongly recommended. So charming hotel with friendly staff. Food is simply fresh and tasty and the ayurevdic facility simply great. The best massage of our trip was made here. Hotel has a direct access to Varkala Beach. We wanted to stay here for the entire week but unfortunately we had to leave. Amazing stay !

We have visited so many places during our stay in India but this place was far the best. Manager was genuinely helpful and the property was well kept. Good value for money and near the beach. Within walking distance from the Northern Cliff. Varkala town was within 15min drive with bike.

Very enjoyable. The staff were friendly and helpful and the kitchen staff were delightful. Well situated on the cliffs, with shops and restaurants a short walk away. Watched the fishermen bringing in their catch in the early morning and saw the fish on display in the evenings at some of the restaurants. You choose your own and they cook and serve it. Best dish was masa...

The place is good, but they need to maintain the property well. The staff are very good but lacks maintenance. There was a bad odour in the room. Maybe people come from the beach with wet clothes and not dried properly. Not sure. Otherwise the room is very spacious and the facilities are very good. The view is fantastic and though I was a solo traveler I enjoyed my sta...

Very nice location and excellent value in the premium room with balcony for around £30 a night. The food was fairly average but that was fine because there are so many nice restaurants close by. The pool was very dirty, so I didn’t use. That’s the only fault really. Excellent shower, bathroom and air conditioning.

Casa Eva Luna is by far the best place I have ever stayed anywhere in India. The property is immaculate with beautiful black marble floors throughout and a terrace on the first floor of the property overlooking the luscious garden and surroundings, which I loved sitting out on in the mornings and evenings. The greatest thing about the place is the hosts who could...

Excellent resort place if you want a quite laid back stay, Staff was extremely friendly and always there to help, Rateesh service was the best, We stayed there for 2 nights ..Rateesh arranged rides to and fro from the beaches and other locations. We wanted Kerala Home food and the Chef (Biju - hope I got the name right) was exceptional in his cooking ..Thanks to every...

It's very affordable. My room had a large bed. Not a thick modern mattress, but perfectly comfortable. This is not a place where you should expect a fridge or air-conditioning. It has a ceiling fan, and I found that perfectly satisfactory. Western travellers may be taken about by the toilet arrangements. The toilet is the European "throne", but there's no toilet pa...

Very friendly staff and a good breakfast provided. Quiet location a little way out of town but you can walk along the beach to the cliffs in about 25-30 minutes. Otherwise they can call rickshaws or rent scooters 350/day. Good AC in the room, refreshing pool and patchy wifi.

Varkala suffers from frequent power cuts and the room/ facilities were not as described on agoda. WiFi access was limited. However, the staff were friendly and most helpful, which made up for the initial surprise of actual hotel compared to what I thought we had booked. Location is good for all beaches and cliff top. Varkala beach is very dirty with litter and dog mess...

The property needs pest control. A frog jumped out of the toilet seat and a house lizard ate a mid sized spider on the wall adjoining the bed. The entrance needs more lighting. The breakfast was very basic. The bread that was served had fungus. Frooti is not a breakfast drink. It is a task to communicate with the caretaker/watch man due to language constraints. The...

I booked Lost Hostel for 2 days and ended up staying for 14. The place is a great location, a 5 minute walk to enjoy Varkala Cliff/Beach. Goodwin, the manager, is extremely friendly and helpful. He would always pass through the common areas and converse with you and make sure you're having a good time. The rest of the staff was also pleasant; just a joy to be around. ...

First, the bad! Just to mention that there is no hot water in this whole hostel. Zero. Nothing. NADA. When a place mentions it has a shower then I'm expecting "some" hot water or even tepid. If we had known this we would have stayed elsewhere for the 5 nights. They did have a kitchen with a kettle BUT it's the first place we've stayed in India where they don't have a...

We had a great time at Varkala. Hotel is close to the beach and local Restaurants. The Backpacker Area with the little village, Bars, Shops and more Restaurant is only 20 Minutes walk away ore 4 Minutes by Tuk Tuk. The Hotel is not new but still in good condition and we had a suite with 2 Rooms. Wireless every where. Breakfast good every day new kind of food, so you c...

Spacious room and bathroom (Deluxe AC), very basic decoration, could be cleaner and need some minor renovation. The bed wasnt very comfortable but that's standard in Varkala. That said the price is right, the location is OK (less than 5 minutes walk from the beach), the staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is extremely basic.

Room ok. Good bed, working and quiet ac, warm water shower, nice chairs on little terrace (I had a cottage). But then....no cleaning of room in 4 days! And I paid a solid price (around 4000 roupies a day, and for 1000 you get nearby a room with direct seaview). No seaview, because hotel lies 400 meter landinward. The name beachhotel is a little exaggerated. Cause the ...

We book Kshetra based on good reviews but were a bit worried as we were visiting India for the first time. However everything went very smooth and our stay here was quire pleasant. Easy to check in, friendly staff, beautiful courtyard/garden, peaceful and quiet, close to beach, and pretty affordable -- these all make this hotel a good choice. Don't expect a luxurious h...

First things first. I had planned to spend just one night here and it was so amazing that I had to extend my stay for 2 more nights. The property is awesome and offers 3 different types of rooms and settings. Location is fab with only a stone throw's distance to the cliff beach behind it. Anish, the hotel manager is a true professional and really aims to make your stay...

Magnolia guesthouse is a really lovely peaceful place away from the hustle of Varkala. Set in a really gorgeous garden. A couple of the cottages have sea views from the verandahs. We stayed for three nights in February 2018. Probably a 20 min walk away from the cliff and very hot to do in the middle of the day. There are a couple of beaches that are suitable for swim...

We really enjoyed our stay. The room was really nice, the staff is helpful and kind and there is an amazing rooftop where you can practice yoga or just relax. Close to the beach, restaurant and shops, but the building and space around feels very peaceful and calm. Hope to come back!

Originally only booked for 3 nights but ended up staying a week! We had a non ac room facing away from the main road/track with a private terrace. This gave us more privacy than most other places in the area. There is a shared kitchen with a fridge, which was very handy for storing drinks & snacks. It also has cooking facilities. Be warned, you are not allowed to store...

We found Divine Bliss to be good value - very clean, good plumbing, nice airy rooms with private balconies. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. There are no views to speak of, but the gardens are nice and green, and the north cliff pathway is a two minute walk away. The included breakfast was decent (tea or juice, fruit salad, omelette with toast) and it was nice...

Very nice and quiet place to spend wonderful days in Varkala. My room was huge, had everything needed, big bathroom incl. warm water, was clean and bright. Nice and comfortable bed. We spent there some days during the breaking of 2016/2017. + The location is good right in the touristic bubble, pretty near the main Varkala beach, restaurants, and many touristic shops. + The young member of staff was nice and helpful. - We made a booking and payment in advance via Agoda and chose a deluxe room. When we arrived and the room was given to us w...

I hardly comment how good is the accommodation, because some mistake occur on the booking system, they have no room reserve for me even though I had successfully booked from Agoda.com. Beach is just a walkable distance. Interiors are wooden like traditional kerala houses. Clean and hygiene. Except you need to rely on restaurants for good food. Hindustan Hotel is just 100 meters away and they have amazing breakfast buffet. North Cliff is also just walkable distance from the beach. Evenings are best.

The staff, the location, the cleanliness were ALL VERY good. The only thing that could be improved was the air conditioner, because it was not cool enough, but other than this, everything else was superb. They also reserved a cab for us to go back to the airport. I was with two friends for one day, and I really was satisfied with it.

Excellent location close to the beach. The room was clean with basic facilities but enough for holiday: a clean comfortable bed and hot shower. Staff very friendly and helpful. There were no mosquitos in the room. Only negative things were very slow wifi and a lot of power cuts. Overall I would recommend this place.

That said the price is right, the location is OK (less than 5 minutes walk from the beach), the staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is extremely basic.

This place is a bit more expensive than others in the area but the rooms are all really nice and from reading previous reviews I think they must have all been refurbished recently. The area is nice and quiet and the beach is generally nicer than the cliff beach. At the restaurant I was 100% sure I did not get the fish I asked/paid for. I did not bother to make a fuss b...

We as a couple (25-30) were as usual looking for a place not far away from where the hot spot is, but also like to have a most quite place as well. We loved the environment and room. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. It is a leisurely walk (10 mins) to the main Varkala Beach and restaurants- we loved this aspect of being off the beaten track a little. Water is warmish, we had aircon but found we only used it once or twice for short bursts (visited in early Jan). One minor word of warning: grab your pas...

The location is excellent, only a few meters walk to the beach and to many places to eat. The room is very comfortable and breakfast is very good. But the best of all is the attention of Nassar. Traveler impressions of Varkala
We really enjoyed our stay in Varkala the beach was great with huge stretches of white sand and large waves.
Its a small town. Tips for visitors * Having an umbrella will always be handy * Sunday is not the day for shopping.
the beach is at the bottom of the cliffs which is lined with resturants and spas and touristist shops.
Great Beach resort in India for the backpacker type and more. Greta Surf, beaches and a relaxed environment compared to other places in India.
Great beachside place to vacation. Enjoy the natural greens and blues of nature at less than half the price of Italy.
Lovely beach at one end of a cliff top walk with non stop bars and restaurants, walk along a just pick anyone for a cool drink after a day on the beach.
The temple is fascinating. Pilgrims believe that the sea near the temple washed away all your sins. For us Western sinners good to try! Beaches are fantastic and waves good to ride.

There was thousands of people outside the hotel gates dancing to the drummers that were a part of the NYE entertainment it seems this hotel was the place to be :-) The staff are so helpful and friendly. I'm staying for another week while doing a panchakarma treatment nearby. Really beautiful gardens. The staff here has been the best, room service from the restaurant when needed. The Varkala weather is great this time of year and very few tourest.
