Traveler impressions of Wuhan

More about Wuhan

Made up of three smaller cities separated by a river, the city of Wuhan serves as the capital of the Hubei Province from its location on the Yangtse River. It is here where historical wonders such as the Yellow Crane Tower can be found and modern wonders such as the Three Gorges Dam can be easily explored. The gateway to Wuhan is via Tianhe International Airport.

One of the key attractions in Wuhan’s city center is Guiyuan Temple and its hall of 500 luohan - statues of Buddhist disciples. Changchun Temple and Hubei Provincial Museum are also well worth visiting. Despite its historic appeal, Wuhan can compete with any of China’s provincial capitals when it comes to modern, after-hours entertainment. Bars and clubs in the city center are popular with younger residents and expatriates, and they’re great venues for enjoying live bands, jazz quartets, and visiting DJs. Shopping is also a major pastime here. Jainghan Street, which is an excellent place to book accommodation in Wuhan, is closed to cars and features trendy shops that light up on evenings and weekends. Guests are within walking distance of department stores and the attractive foreign concessions.
