Traveler impressions of Yogyakarta
Lots of sites to see in the city and the general area. It is an inexpensive place to take a holiday, it wasn't very busy when we were there.
Most restaurants that hostels recommend serve international food, and therefore cost more than other stalls that serves just local food, but they usually look cleaner.
Compare to Jakarta it is a real pleasure to stay in Yogyakarta. More clean, less polluted, more affordable and nice people! :)
This place is a great city for culture. The city center offers a chilled out Indonesian city. There are plenty of cultural attractions to fill up 2 full days.
Yogyakarta is a unique and interesting place. The close proximity of both Borobodur and Prambanan make this a must see for anyone interested in culture/history.
Yogyakarta is one of the beautiful place, we can get flavor of essentials for a tourist. Good hotels, transport facility.
Yogyakarta is a city of strong java tradition, where polite people greet you with their smile and bow.
A great city to experience sightseeing, shopping and relaxation. Mirota Batik has a wide variety of cheap batik, souvenirs and handy crafts.
Yogyakarta is the centre of Javanese culture. It is interesting to discover about their unique culture in some specific sightseeing spots and by the city structure itself.
Yogyakarta is a city full of history, very good for education trip for kids or general interest over the javanese culture.
We don't care much for the city center which is too crowded. But other attractions outside of Yogyakarta (for us during this trip, Borobudur and Mt Merapi) are highly recommended.
Yogyakarta is one of Indonesia's city full with culture and history, such as Borobodur, Prambanan and Kraton (Palace).
Do Prambanan before Borobudur, and try not to compare the two. They're both beautiful and full of history, but in very different ways.
Superb city with a lots of historic places. Wonderful people with great shopping place with very cheap prices.
You can not find the place like Yogyakarta. It's the best place for education, traveling, and relaxing.
If you are looking for budget travel with cheap food, this is the place to go. Be prepared to be amaze by the charming people of Jogja.
The city is nice but the traffic are bit crowd. There so many careless motorbike user, you must be patient on their behavior.
Visiting Candi Borobudur and Candi Prambanan are the two only reasons why I need to stay in Yogyakarta.
A must place to go when you visit Yogyakarta, Candi Borobudur, Candi Prambanan, Istana Keraton, Malioboro, Goa Pindul
Yogyakarta is a very pleasant city. Quite large but with the feel of a collection of villages. It is safe but for the tourist touts (Easy to get rid of) Plenty of attractions around (sea, mountains, volcanoes, monuments, batik, dancing.
Love the night life especially when I come to weekend night could view many teenagers hang out by the roadside with the activities.
Vibrant and interesting place. So much culture and architecture to take in, in the surrounding area. Lots of lovely hotels to stay in.
Jogja istimewa... Very nice and beautiful city. Nice foods and very friendly people. World heritage sites to visits.

Yogyakarta is magical place beside Bali you can find a lot of interesting place in here, and Yogyakarta has a lot of beaches, you can learn history, how to make batik, the food great, and you can go to religious place also such as BOROBUDUR temple and SINDANGSONO church.
not much to visit but can go there for 2days and can enjoy market near to railway station and 2 hindu temples which are 50-60kms far from city centrl
i love this city. full of cultures and very much still preserved. its a mixture of modern and ancient culture.
No wonder Yogyakarta is the second most visitied place in Indonesia after Bali. In terms of nature, mountains, world heritage monuments, old buildings, etc.
Love the culture and traditional performances, the food and the cafes were great and were reasonably priced too! We went on a jeep ride to Mt.
After many cities I've been (in Indonesia) I felt Yogya gave a different kind of perspective in terms of, people, food and cultural.

More about Yogyakarta
Yogyakarta has all of the attractions and trappings of a major tourist city, all while maintaining its fascinating culture. Traditional Javanese life is almost a step away. The city briefly served as the archipelago’s capital and is host the Yogyakarta Palace, the residence of the sultan. Walking tours through this area and its colonial-era houses is certainly a must.
For the shopping experience, the Main Market is where locals go for clothing, spices, and produce, so good bargains can be found here. The city also is known as the best place for high-quality handicrafts. Dining is an experience with authentic tastes being provided from street stalls in the city center.
Visitors to the city will enter via Adisucipto International Airport, immediately outside the city center and close to accommodation. Flights mainly connect to cities on Java and elsewhere in the archipelago.
Be sure to check out the interactive map of Yogyakarta for information on hotel locations, attractions, and must-see destinations.
