“The location was great, and I would like to use it again.”
I used this hotel in Kuala Lumpur, and the deciding factors for choosing the Furama Hotel were its location, the reasonable price allowing lounge access, and its proximity to Lalaport, which has toilets equipped with bidets. The location is convenient as you can smoothly access the hotel via a walking deck from the Monorail's Hentian station through the interior of Lalaport without any stairs. The LRT's Hentian station is also adjacent, and the MRT’s Merdeka station is accessible as well. I chose a room with a king-size bed, which was spacious enough that it felt excessive for one person. Being on a higher floor, I enjoyed the night view of the Petronas Twin Towers, Merdeka 118, and KL Tower from the window, which was fantastic. The room amenities included toothbrushes, cotton swabs, shampoo, and body soap, along with services like stick coffee. There was also a desk, chair, table, and kettle. The large closet included an iron. The air conditioning was adjustable, and there were no issues with the water pressure or temperature in the shower. Additionally, during my stay, I found the hotel’s free Wi-Fi to be sufficient without feeling slow. Being an older facility, there are no USB ports, but there were several Type A outlets available in the room, so a single charger would suffice for a smartphone. Since changing clothes can be arranged locally, it seems that almost no extra luggage is needed for this hotel. One downside was that the room's safety box had some issues and didn't operate easily, which required some frustrating attempts every morning for about five minutes to lock it. Breakfast had a wide variety of options, with a majority being chicken, but there were plenty of my favorite fruits, making the variety and quality acceptable for the price. The breakfast restaurant was quite spacious but rather crowded, with many guests dining at the tables by the poolside. I did not see many East Asians, including Japanese guests. On the other hand, for rooms providing lounge access, it was also possible to have breakfast in the lounge, which allowed for a very relaxed breakfast experience. Compared to the restaurant, the selection was somewhat limited, but the lounge offered services such as bottled fruit juices that were not available at the restaurant. The restaurant was quite busy from early hours, so for those who want a quieter and more relaxed time, or for guests planning an early checkout, utilizing a room with lounge access for breakfast could be a good choice. In the lounge, there are appetizers, light meals, desserts, and alcoholic beverages offered from 5 PM to 7 PM, allowing for a relaxing time while enjoying the night view. There were more fruits and sweets than appetizers, which sufficiently replaced dinner. The adjacent Lalaport also features restaurants and supermarkets, making it very convenient. The food court at the nearby Berjaya Times Square was nice too. While it is close distance-wise, trying to take a shortcut to Times Square involves crossing a road without traffic signals or crosswalks, which can be risky. However, compared to Thailand and Vietnam, drivers here stop, which is a reassuring factor. I became accustomed to crossing this road every night to visit the massage shops. The hotel is within walking distance to Chinatown and the Bukit Bintang city center, and using local pathways for shortcuts made it quite close. Although I was alone, I did not feel unsafe at night. While the aging facilities of the hotel are undeniable, the positive aspects were its location, the lounge, and above all, the friendliness of the staff. I would like to use this hotel again next time.
