historical is no excuse”
If you want a bed and nothing more, then the Grand Hotel is ideal. It is located very close to the station, and an easy walk from the town centre and blowhole/lighthouse precinct. The bedding and towels were clean, bed comfortable. The hotel is old - the carpet is worn, there are chips and stains in the bathroom, no powerpoints in the room, and no lifts. That is all expected in an old building, and didn't cause me concern. What there is no excuse for is the lack of maintenance and basic cleaning. The bathroom floor was not swept for the 3 days I was there, a tap was leaking so badly that there was water all over the floor. The fridge in the hall lounge area was so iced up it barely closed, coffee/tea making facilities had no cups, the cupboard was falling apart. These are care and maintenance issues.

A disgusting dump”
For $69/night I wasn't expecting much - but what I actually got was ridiculous. Pros: Location is 2 blocks from the beach Cons: - Room door did not close properly - Room window held open by a long steel nail, and a hole drilled through the window frame. Glass pane of window had a hole in it, letting in mosquitos that bit me repeatedly during the night. - Room light did not work. - Bedside table missing one drawer, and timber was splintered. - Faucets in room had the taps removed, hence rendered inoperable. - Sink in room had a disgusting smell/large stains. - Bed linen dirty and melly. - Room smelt mouldy in general. - Communal toilet light on a 30sec timer - ridiculous if you're sitting on the loo. - Communal toilet had no sink, so nowhere to wash hands after using the toilet. - Communal shower had the shower head missing. - Communal shower had no hot water. STRONGLY not recommended for couples or female travellers - my wife was harrassed by drunk men sitting on the floor in the corridor outside the communal female bathrooms - one guy tried to grab her as she was returning to our room from a shower. Room is very very noisy, due to drynken shouting and swearing in the corridors till after midnight. Best advice would be to go elsewhere. In hindsight, sleeping in the car would've been more pleasant..

The whole place was dirty and the building was very old with an odd smell. There was very very loud music throughout the whole night until about 2am. Worst place to stay over..

Very basic accomadation ”
Very basic accomadation but worth it for price per night. No air con but nice breeze at night with windows open. The staircase to top rooms are steep and an effort to take suitcases etc up. We never had a single staff member speak to us after we picked up room key. Music loud at night Appears to be a very busy venue on weekends We would still stay here again as cheap close to beach and comfy beds

NOT A HOTEL”
If i could rate this as a 0-star hotel I would. Couldn't even say this is a hotel because it seems even lesser than a dormitory. This place offers no toilet in rooms, no power outlet. Only beds to sleep in, plus you have to endure at night the noise from the bar just downstairs. Staff weren't accommodating because they focused solely on customers in the pub.

Terrible ”
Disgusting toilets, people smoking in toilets ash all over the floor, room stunk of cigarettes. Suppose to stay 2 nights left at 5am on the first night! Didn't feel safe at all sleeping whilst someone is flicking cigarettes outside the window next to where u sleep!

3mins walk to Kiama Blowhole & Kiama village”
Location is good. Kiama train station is located behind of the hotel. Hotel is pretty old but the staff is friendly. The famous Kiama Blowhole & light house just 2mins by car. Is walkable. Parking at night is free. Sharing bathroom. Shower is the best point of the hotel. Self check out before 10am by dropping room key at the old wooden box beside the staircase.

Character building”
Pros: location, reasonably priced beer. Cons: only really cons if you are a stickler for things like electricity, sofas that don't smell like old sausages, curtains securely attached to walls, and basins in bathrooms. Otherwise it was a wonderful voyage of discovery, with a real frisson of excitement at the potential risk of contracting flesh eating diseases from the furniture.

Communal toilets were not good. No toilet paper and unclean. Rooms could really benefit from new carpet, curtain and quilt cover to bring it up to scratch. Had a great night at the pub and staff were great. Great location.

facilities very old, and the reception close quite early in the weekdays, you can't check in late. I left a note mentioned that i will be late check in when I did the booking (my flight arrive at 7.30 pm, by the time i get to the hotel already around 10 pm), but they didn't inform me if I can late check in. So i was forced to sleep inside my car (luckily i was driving) for that night. But then it's very nice of them, they compensate me with a free night stay.

The hotel is really old and basically falling apart. Its main residents appear to be homeless people. My room was small and windowless. It was noisy from the bar downstairs.

Filthy, trashy place ,,wonder how they pass for operation..Agoda it's not for kids please”
Arrived early for check in ,no reception, had to stay in the garden where patrons where coming in and some smoking regardless of no smoking signs.Could not get our luggage up the two flights of stairs, thank God l asked a staff to help. The upstairs was filthy, stinky, accumulated dirt everywhere .l just could not stop my 2 year old from touching anything. Our room unbelievable filthy, dirt(not dust) over chest of drawers, sink, fridge, floor(carpet)filthy ,can could see accumulated dirt along the edges.TI could not help but kick myself how could l bring my child to such filthy dwellings.l had to wipe everything down but had to keep my child from touching here and there. An area outside the rooms with TV ,microwave, electric kettle it's so filthy, too old falling apart lounge chairs .On check out staff could no help me with luggage despite asking and waiting for 2 hours.l had to bring luggage down and had my child fall in the process. No wonder it was no refund basis .The kitchen and food was okay.
