    “Clean & welcoming”

Stayed a night here during a stopover in Tokyo. Hotel is new, clean and welcoming especially after a long haul flight. It's less than a 5min walk from Ueno station (Asakusa exit). I landed in Narita and caught the Keisei Skyliner directly into Keisei Ueno station. After exiting the gates, follow the signs to get to exit 9 and then to locate the Asakusa exit. Upon entering the hotel I was greeted by Sakura the cute little bot roaming around the lobby. Checkin was quick as I had already prepaid for my room. Rooms are small but well furnished and clean, no musty smell. There's a room and fabric freshener spray provided in the room as well. Due to the space, it may be a slight challenge to open more than one luggage. Bed was firm with comfy pillows - had the best sleep in the entire week considering I was jet lagged. Bathroom came with a bathtub shower combo and the full set of shower toiletries. At the lobby area, you'd be able to help yourself to additional toiletries from toothbrushes, bath salts to face masks. The hotel also offer guests complimentary beverage and refreshments on the 1st floor and ample seating to enjoy your snack. Lovely place and I would definitely be back. Paid around *** for the night, prices seem higher due to the busy Nov period. Plenty of good eats within a short stroll from the hotel.

    “Highly Recommended!”

I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Resol Ueno! The location is absolutely strategic — right next to JR Ueno Station and just about a 5-minute walk to the lively Ameyoko market. It’s also very convenient to access the Keisei Skyliner, Ginza Line and Hibiya Line, making it a perfect hub for exploring Tokyo. The hotel itself is very clean, neat and comfortable. I loved how refreshing the shower spray felt, especially in the hot weather. They also provide laundry facilities to wash and dry clothes, which was a huge plus for travelers. Another highlight is the cozy lobby area where guests can chill and enjoy complimentary pastries and soup — such a thoughtful touch! This year marks their 5th anniversary, and it’s easy to see why the hotel has earned such a strong reputation. With a perfect mix of comfort, convenience, and warm hospitality, Hotel Resol Ueno truly made my Tokyo trip memorable. Highly recommended!

    “Modern, Clean and Excellent location”

The lack of photos on Ueno Resol Hotel's profile page is a disservice to the wonderful character of the hotel! Rooms are typical Tokyo sizes but spacious bathroom, tastefully decorated and thoughtful room layout made this a great stay. The staff was always present and willing to help - all spoke good English the week we stayed there. The common area on the ground floor was beautifully decorated Halloween theme during our early October stay. Additionally, they had well organised guide books with very good recommendations of food and attraction. We had the breakfast too one morning and was delicious. I love how they had ample choice or tea and soups throughout the day. Lastly, location is superb. Just 3mins walk from Ueno station (metro and JR lines) and a lots of food and bars in the area! Definitely worth returning!

    “Comfort in a small space”

Lobby service: There's dried soup cubes from Soup Tokyo, pastries/muffins, coffee and tea options for guests to consume between 10.30am to 9pm. We just need to self-service. Wide range of amenities are also available for you to pick up at the lobby (toothbrush, toothpaste, face mask, bath salts, etc.,). Room: Space is rather small and requires skilful arrangement and placement of luggage (if you have large or more than 1). Most of the time, my luggage is kept closed and standing. Toilet is of typical Japan hotel size with good water flow and temperature control. Bed was comfortable. Wished I could have stayed a few more days rather than just 1 night on two occasions. They allowed me to keep one of my luggage with them over a few days as I will be returning to the same hotel again for another stay. Neighbourhood: Close proximity to JR Ueno Station and a slightly further walk to the Skyliner station. If coming from Skyliner station, just keep to the pavement walk along the outside of the JR Ueno station. Unsure: Can't remember if self-service laundry is available here, but I did not find any indications of where the laundry room is located. Guess there isn't one.

“Great stay, near Ueno Station and Keisei Skyliner”

We had a great 5 night stay in Resol Ueno. We had previously stayed in Shinjuku and Asakusa during our visits to Tokyo and this was our first time choosing to stay in Ueno. Area was good and access to the Ueno Station was flat and easy. Once we discover the Iriya Exit from the station made it all the easier and quicker to get to the hotel. Staff was wonderful and helpful. Check in was fast and breezy and we got the connecting rooms we asked for. Hotel had a soup and coffee bar at the lobby with comfortable seating area. Frozen pastries were also available for those who might want fresh bakes for breakfast or tea. Hotel interior was new and modern and I would stay here again during my next visits to Tokyo. 10/10!

“The location is good, but the room is a bit cramped compared to the price.”

Location: Convenient, just a bit of a walk out of Central Gate - Asakusa exit; it's really not far from the station, but because Ueno station is very large, it feels like a long walk. Not many people, very comfortable. *For those who like barbecue, I recommend the Fundes building, on the 10th floor, there is a yakiniku restaurant called Ushihachi; good quality meat, reasonable prices. Cleanliness: Very clean, strong water pressure, the restroom has a heated mirror to prevent fogging. Staff service: The staff can communicate in English, very nice and willing to help. Facilities: Excellent, really recommend it. Almost everything is available in the lobby, you can help yourself to what you need, it's all by DHC. There is tea (various flavors, very good), coffee, soup, and croissants (delicious, don't miss this) available for free in the lobby. The hotel is considered new, the restroom is spacious enough, but it seems to encroach on the room space, making it look small. The only downside to this hotel is the room size. For a 15 square meter room, in a Japanese style, it’s considered normal; suitable for no more than 2 people, it’s manageable to turn and walk around, haha. But it's really too cramped for tall people, more than 2 members, or if you have a lot of belongings, it’s quite difficult. Compared to the price, if we don't count the facilities, it feels a bit too expensive.

“Good Stay with Some Minor Frustrations”

The hotel facilities are very new and clean, and I found the staff to be attentive. The location is ideal — the Ueno area feels genuinely authentic, giving you the sense that you're truly experiencing Japan. You can easily walk to the station, where there are plenty of shops that stay open late, which is very convenient. The breakfast offered is good, but it's not the traditional hotel breakfast some travelers might expect. After a few days, it starts to feel a bit repetitive, and I think this is definitely a downside. The room itself was different from the one shown in the booking photos — it was smaller and didn’t have the chair next to the bed that was pictured. That said, the room was comfortable overall. The bed was great, and the air conditioning was fully adjustable. However, I did notice a persistent damp, smoky smell in the bathroom, which seemed to stem from a humidity and ventilation issue. Another small inconvenience was the laundry area: there are only two machines, and they are washer-dryer combos. Drying clothes took much longer than expected — I had to run several cycles and it still took almost two hours to dry just a few garments. Plus, the laundry room was often very busy. I would probably stay at this hotel again, but considering the price, I might explore other options in the area that could offer a similar experience.

“A pleasant and convenient place to base yourself while exploring Tokyo”

We stayed at the Hotel RESOL Ueno for five nights in April ‘25. It is in a fabulous location, right across the road from the Ueno station (which connects to most of Tokyo) and a short walk from the gorgeous Ueno park and a great shopping/restaurant hub. The room was clean and nicely decorated, but small. Very typical for Japan/Tokyo, but we did struggle to fit our luggage (two medium suitcases and carry on - it was the end of a five week trip and we’d bought a lot of souvenirs by then). My husband at 6ft2 was also slightly too long for the bed, but the bed itself was comfortable. I enjoyed the deep bath and the free bath salts. The staff were nice and there was an extensive collection of amenities to help yourself to/hire in reception. The lobby also has a great seating area with unlimited tea & coffee, which was a plus considering there wasn’t really space to hang out inside the room other than the bed. Overall, it was good value for money in an expensive city.

    “Impressed and absolutely recommended”

The hotel is very clean from the lobby to the room . Even though the room is pretty much irregular size, but the bathroom is quite spacious. Train station is within a few minutes walk. One of the best location I'd say as it's near everything we need but peaceful and quiet enough for us to rest. Besides hairdryer, a coffee maker machine, and phone charger cable are provided in the room. They're also tea, bread and soup free of charge in the lobby from 10 to 9 which are surprisingly tasty. We surely be back again. I'm impressed.

    “Comfortable Stay”

As a solo traveler, I thought the size of the room was just nice for me. I didn't need a huge space. I was carrying two luggages and the room has enough space for me also. It was a cozy stay, clean, bed was comfortable, shower was decent. The hotel provides breakfast too and it's individual portion, which I think was really cute. The location was really convenient as well, pretty near the train station and also the airport train station (walking distance). Overall I think this is a good choice for solo traveller! Very convenient.

    “Great location good price”

Great property that’s located right next to Ueno Station and several convenience stores within walking distance. Although the room was small, it was enough for a solo traveler to be comfortable enough for relaxation and sleep. May be difficult with 2 in a room, may have to move luggages around. Wifi was good enough for browsing. Amenities are self served on the first floor near the front desk which was convenient as you walked back in from your daily adventure in Ueno. Liked that I had a small fridge in room. Their house keeping style is different than what myself and probably many others are used to; but it worked out fine for me. They clean every 3 or 4 days if you are staying long term but they replace towels daily and empty your waste bin by having you leave it outside of room. Had no issues with this as my room stayed clean throughout my stay. They do have self service washer/dryer units on certain floor, believe it was the 2nd. They only had 2 units so it could pose a problem if you wait to do laundry at the last minute and someone beat you to it. Convenient to have them available at a hotel though. Overall, I’d highly recommend this hotel for those who want the convenience of a public transport system being a few minutes walk away, especially solo travelers.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and it was a very nice with simple and straight forward services. The space was a little tight for the both of us and our luggage, but we managed to make space. They provided new towels and daily trash take-out. It was easy to find as the hotel was right next to Ueno Station; making travelling from place to place very convenient. They don't have larger rooms, so not ideal for families, but great for single or coupled travellers.

“Best hotel during our entire stay in japan”

The hotel was the closest to the jr ueno train station as claimed. In comparison to other hotels I had considered prior to selecting the hotel. When I was at ueno station. I was extremely happy for selecting the hotel as all the other hotels which I contemplated on, was a far walk and very troublesome if travelling with big luggages as there is a lot of stairs with no elevator nearby. The hotel was calm and quiet despite us arriving within the golden week. The staff was very helpful and could converse in English. The rooms were small but bigger than a typical standard japanese hotel. The best part of the room was the toilet. The toilet was clean and very very spacious. The air-condition was cold despite the blazing heat outside. However you will need to adjust the controls on the air-condition unit. Not to mentioned, this is the only hotel that had a working refrigerator and provided drinking water daily. The staff was very helpful in our queries. They are very quick to help store luggages when you arrive earlier than the expected chech in time and also after check out . I hope they keep up the good work in managing the hotel and will definitely stay in this hotel again.

    “Perfect for our stay”

For starters the staff is very friendly and respectful. The room was small but had all the amenities we needed. The breakfast was simple but just enough and they also provided toiletries amenities for free. There’s even a free umbrella rental so you don’t have to go and buy one. Ueno location was perfect as it’s so close to the metro station and tons of dining and shopping. Ueno park isn’t far either. Very quiet snd relaxing stay, would definitely come back.

    “Great amenities ”

Location is good as it is close to the Ueno station. Exit out of Asakusa exit and turn right where you can find the lift. We didn’t go far enough to the right so thought that there was no lift and ended up carrying our luggages down a few flight of steps. Room was small but bathroom atea was bigger than the other hotels we have stayed in. Our bed was small but was comfortable in a way that the movement of the person does not really affect the person on the other side of the bed. The standout is the amenities provided. Pyjamas was provided as usual but was really soft. They even provide face masks which I greatly appreciated. The only negative is the lights are really dim for our liking. Other than that, this is a nice, chic hotel in a good location.

“Liked it so much, we are coming back!”

It’s our first time in Japan and we chose the Hotel Resol Ueno because of the positive reviews and location. It is a direct connection via the KEISEI Skyliner from Narita. The location is excellent, with access to many of Tokyo’s metro lines, close to museums in Ueno Park and Tokyo Skytree. The hotel is about 300 meters from Ueno Station once you learn which exit to use. The rooms are small, but adequate, staff are excellent and very helpful and most speak some English. We especially enjoyed the breakfast, soup, tea, and croissants on demand. Tons of shops and restaurants nearby too. We are returning to Tokyo at the end of our trip and were planning to stay in a different area and hotel, but changed our reservation to return to Hotel Resol Ueno. Because we are flying out of Narita and there’s something about having familiarity with the area. The only thing to mention is that some of the 7-11’s and convenience stores on the edge of the Ameyoko shopping street are a bit sketchy, but if you walk a bit further the other ones are better.

    “Near Train Station”

Easy access to Narita Airport using the Keisei Skyliner train in an hour. Also within walking distance to Ueno train station which has multiple subway lines as well as the Shinkansen. Rooms are tiny but for the price paid, we felt it was value-for-money. The pillows were awful though. The hotel provides amenities in the lobby - water dispenser, packet instant soup, croissants, many tea varieties and coffee. Also single-use facial oil, cleanser, face masks, etc. i.e. a lot of products that ladies would appreciate. There’s a tie-up with the gym opposite and my husband used it with a fee (most gyms in Tokyo do not allow foreigners). He said it was quite a large facility with different weights and sports machines. We spent time walking in Ueno Park and checking out the dated gashapon machines in the neighbourhood.

    “A small but new hotel.”

Book by selecting the hotel with the highest review ratings at a moderate price. Upon staying, the result is convenience in accessing the subway; however, it is quite far from the city center and a good distance from Ueno Park, although it is walkable if a bit tiring. The room upon checking in was very clean, but the hotel's policy is that they won't clean if you stay less than four nights, which means it can get dirty depending on your care; however, fresh towels and drinking water are provided daily without skimping. The bedroom is very small and has only a tiny window, but there is a wide walkway outside the room to unpack your bags, which is nice. The bedside table is very small and narrow, and the walkway at the end of the bed is extremely narrow; they could have done better there. The bathroom is excellent, providing high-quality amenities that are easy to use, with really strong water pressure that feels satisfying when showering. Amenities can be freely picked up in the lobby; the quality is fairly good. I tried the face cream and had great results; the mouthwash is also good, and the drip coffee is quite nice. Checking out is very easy; they don’t check anything. They also offer to store your bags, and when returning to pick up your bags, you can still access the restroom in the lobby, which is clean and convenient, fully equipped. In summary, the hotel is very generous, providing everything without holding back, except for the cleaning of the room, which is the only issue.

The room is compact, but it feels clean and the interior is stylish, allowing for a comfortable stay. The amenities are set up in front of the reception, and it was nice to have a style where you can freely choose the items you need. The only concern I had was that the response from the Japanese male staff at the front desk felt a bit unfriendly. In contrast, the foreign staff and female staff were kind and attentive, which provided a reassuring feeling. This hotel is excellently located near station and restaurants and other sights in Ueno. Although the rooms are very small and there is no closet to speak of, you have everything yo need. I would suggest getting rid of the chair, it is a cumbersome design and takes up too much precious floor space. I flew in from Australia and stayed for one night, prior to catching the Shinkansen to Sendai. After having some issues at Narita airport with baggage and a cancelled Skyliner train, it was wonderful to finally arrive at Hotel Resol Ueno. Knowing they had 24 hour reception really helped make the situation less stressful. The hotel is a short walk from Keisi Ueno station and basically across the street from Ueno station. The rooms are small but standard size for Japan and are clean and well appointed. I appreciated the lighting controls embedded into the bedside table, and the full size bath in the bathroom. I am 6ft tall and it was wonderful not to have to crouch in the bath/shower area. There is a Family Mart very close by, alongside a range of other small bars and restaurants. It is a short walk from Ueno Park and the Shinobazu no Ike Pond, which is great to visit this time of year (spring). The staff were incredibly kind and friendly. I thoroughly recommend the hotel and hope to stay again soon.

This hotel felt like a relaxing spa retreat from the city. The location is great - super close to Ueno station, which is very central. The room itself is a bit small (like all other hotels in Tokyo) but thoughtfully designed. The bidet in the bathroom is great and the mirror has an anti-fog section in front of the sink. “There are shortcomings, but I was satisfied.”

Fortunately, I received a room with a view of Ueno Station instead of the building wall and had a good stay. As expected from a Japanese hotel, it was narrow but made excellent use of space, and the interior had a modern hotel feel, which was satisfying. However, as some reviews mentioned, there was a strong smell similar to foot odor coming from the bathroom drain, which definitely needs improvement. I managed to stay comfortably by just closing the door. Aside from the mentioned downside, if you're looking to experience the cleanliness of a modern hotel at a Japanese business hotel level, I don't think there's a better place than this.

The accommodation is very close to JR Ueno Station, making it very convenient for travel. You can easily travel back to the airport without having to drag your luggage far, as the Keisei Skyliner train can be boarded at JR Ueno Station. As for the hotel, it is very beautiful. The reception staff provide excellent service, are friendly, and communicate well in English. There is a luggage storage service before check-in at 3:00 PM and after check-out at 11:00 AM, and you must pick it up on the same day. The rooms are spacious to a certain extent—not too small, not too big. The bathroom is very spacious, and the bathtub is larger than in other hotels. The bed is comfortable, and the room smells like a spa. At the lobby, there are various personal care items available for guests to take, such as creams, cleansers, bath salts, toiletries, tea bags, and drip coffee, which are great. Overall, I really liked it. It's close to tourist attractions, shopping areas, and places to eat, just a short walk of less than 5 minutes makes it very easy to go back and forth. There is a fried chicken shop at the accommodation, but I can't remember the name; it has a logo of a girl with red pigtails. The fried chicken and French fries are very delicious. “Good location, facilities.”

I stayed with a friend. It is located just a 10-minute walk from Keisei Ueno, which is a great location. If you walk fast, it is even closer. The JR exit is nearer, making it convenient to travel by subway. Since it's near Ueno Station, it's also great for visiting Ameyoko, and the location is really good. The room isn’t large, but the bathtub is excellent, making it nice for a half-body soak. It’s fine for two women, but it would be a tight fit for two men. The cleanliness and facilities were impeccable. Perhaps due to Japanese characteristics, the heating is a bit awkwardly cold ㅎㅎ. If you’re staying during this season, warmer pajamas would be advisable. The staff's responses and service were also good. I requested something to print, and even though it took some time, they did their best to help. When calling a taxi, they double-checked our location and discussed our destination, ensuring the driver was clearly informed, and overall the staff was very friendly. As mentioned in other reviews, there was just one unfriendly female staff member. Despite the language and cultural differences, a friendlier attitude is needed, especially in a service position. If the unfriendly attitude continues, one might wonder why they are in a service role at all. Therefore, I deducted one star for staff attitude. Really, everything else was perfect, and it was a pleasant stay.

I also liked that I could open the door~~ In terms of size, I liked Shinjuku, but since it is in Kabukicho... “High cost-performance ratio.”

The hotel location is convenient, it's a 7-8 minute walk from the Skyliner Keisei Ueno station, and both JR and Metro are just 3-5 minutes away, very convenient. Nearby the hotel is Ameyoko Market, and there are many large shopping malls, such as 0101. If you walk to the back streets, there's also a Don Quijote supermarket that is open until 1:00 AM. Ueno Station already has many great shopping places. Regarding the hotel, although the room is not very large, it can accommodate two medium-sized luggage cases, and the room is relatively clean, with fresh towels, garbage bags, water, and tea bags placed at the door every day. The only downside is that the space for placing items is somewhat insufficient, with too few surfaces and hooks. The hotel lobby has self-service supplies, with all daily necessities available, and you can also borrow adapters and hair straighteners. There is also a hot and cold water dispenser for tea or coffee, and free croissants are available during breakfast time. I am very satisfied with the overall hotel, and it offers great value for money. Highly recommended!

Convenient location with close proximity to Ueno Station, main connecting stations. Nearby shopping and eateries, less busy than main tourist spots like Shibuya and Shinjuku. Room slightly small and crampy which is pretty normal for business hotel in Tokyo.
