4 of us came on a family vacation, including a 94-year-old Grandpa. We particularly enjoyed the spacious rooms, comfortable beds, climate control, and helpful staff. We especially enjoyed the Imperial Palace Park next door and the delicious Japanese breakfasts.

Great location, kind staff and very comfortable beds”
I stayed with my mom at this hotel for two days during our trip to Kansai for the maple season. The staff has been very helpful when I needed taxi and helped me call the restaurants for reservation time change. The beds are very comfortable and the decor is great. Super close to the metro station, clean, quiet. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who travels to Kyoto. By the way, they all speak good English and emails are speedily replied if you have any query before the stay.

An experience of Japan with a very traditional non private Onsen Bath. ”
The staff is excellent friendly. Very kind people. They made some gadget upgrades like wireless lighting in different atmosphere light in the room. The room is more like a small flat. Very spacious. It’s not easy to sleep on the Futon if you don’t like to sleep on the floor on a thin mattress. Inside the ryokan you have to forget about your shoes and your own clothes. You are at home! So behave like a Japanese 😎

I stayed in two hotels in Kyoto- the other one being far more expensive and I much preferred Noku. Bright, modern, comfortable and elegant. I was very pleased. The location is great- right next to subway and bus and the Imperial Garden.

Great place to stay in Kyoto with SPACIOUS rooms”
It has very good location what with the Subway exit just beside the hotel. If you're travelling with sizable (heavy) luggage, there is an elevator going down to the subway just across the street corner from the hotel (Marutamachi line). Breakfast served in set menu with a choice of American & Japanese menu. Great amenities for sleeping & bath. Loved the bath salts! Made the late evening soak in the tub feel wonderful for our tired legs. Very accessible to places of interest: Nijojo Castle, Imperial Palace & gardens, International Manga Museum; short bus ride away from Nishiki market & Sanjo-Dori shopping & dining area.

I stayed at NOKU just one night, but it was enough time to fall in love with the hotel. There is not any point to be disappointed; room was super clean and neat and cozy, the bed was the best one I've ever slept! Every staffs were very kind and tried to help us. I and my gf were so sorry that we had only one night to stay. Next time I go to Kyoto, I'll stay at NOKU :)

Good Comfort & Cultural”
Loved this boutique hotel situated next to subway station, across street from Imperial Palace, don't forget to visit the famous State Guest House inside its compound. Hotel is decorated tastefully, room is spacious and comfortable, breakfast is delicious, loved the chestnut cake and coffee in the afternoon. Do not miss the 90 min.Kyoto Neighborhood Tour on Tues and Fri morning guided by Don, a Kyoto native who has lived in Canada and speaks excellent English; he took us through the old neighborhood, pointed out local customs, & their symbolic significance, etc.; we saw an 'old school' tofu maker; an expert Kyoto bamboo craftsperson whose pieces both traditional and modern, were acquired by large Japanese companies for their corporate office; an exquisite doll making company ran by a family which has been making dolls for the Imperial Palace hundreds of years, the matriarch explained in details the importance of doll gifting in Japanese culture... Many good restaurants nearby.

Good hotel, away from centre”
Good hotel away from the centre about 15 mins walk close to the imperial palace. Breakfast 1000 yen was not worth it and not exactly Japanese eat breakfast else where. Room was are clean kink bedroom was a really - good size tea / coffee facilities. I thought the bathroom amenities were really good. There was no hand wash or soap though near the sink. Shower gel , etc was good.

Very nice”
The Noku hotel is a very nice, clean, modern hotel conveniently located in the center of Kyoto. We stayed in a deluxe twin room that was easily the largest room of the hotels we stayed in while visiting Japan. The included breakfast (courtesy of the staff at checkin) was very good. My one complaint is that I booked the room through Agoda and, when I had to check out early, the staff at the desk told me I needed to call Agoda - after 30 minutes on hold with Agoda, I got someone who told me it was the hotel's decision, so they called the Noku on my behalf, whereupon the staff said they wouldn't forgo my 3rd night's stay. Very, very irritating - they should've just told me they don't allow early checkout.

Fantastic hotel in perfect location”
Very nice hotel, fantastic location. The only down side is that even though we paid for kids and breakfast in the end only adults get breakfast and kids have to pay. This is not right as long as the price per night is quite high for room for 4 persons.

Excellent hotel for a few days in Kyoto”
My husband and I loved staying at Noku Kyoto. The rooms are modern and clean, not too small, the beds were decent and the concierge and staff very helpful and professional. They helped us make a few dinner reservations during and before our stay. I wish the bathrooms were a bit nicer, as the rest of the hotel is quite lovely but the bathrooms in the rooms feel a bit cheap and boat-like. We stayed in two different rooms during our stay and they were both less nice than expected compared to the quality of the hotel overall. The breakfast that was included was very good for Japan (other hotels had awful western breakfasts) so that was a nice plus as well.

This small hotel is very clean, very nice staff, next to subway.”
This is a nice hotel for budget travelers. You can choose Japanese or western style breakfast, but only a couple options for each style. We tried the waygu beef shabu shabu one night, and it was surprisingly good! Staff are very nice, provided us bus routes to all the tourist spots we wanted to visit. The hotel is next to the subway station, and bus stops, so it is convenient to go anywhere. Overall, we enjoyed our stay there.

Great Stay”
Despite its distance from the Kyoto train station. The hotel is very convenient to get to with just one train ride on the Karasuma line. Exit from Exit 4 of the subway station and the hotel entrance is just on the left. To our surprise we were offered a complementary upgrade from a House Twin Room to their Premium Luxury Twin Room. The room is huge with a day bed for you to lounge. The view isn’t much, and depends on which side of the hotel are you staying at. From our room we could see a bit of the Palace Park. The room was immaculate, from every details. The bathroom itself was spacious with a full set of amenities. They even offer complimentary drinks in the fridge. Breakfast was at the restaurant. They offer both western and Japanese breakfast at two of their restaurants. Western would have more options to choose from and you get to enjoy Maeda’s coffee offered by the restaurant.

Very good”
We are a family of 4, the rooms are spacious and beautiful and we have a good stay. The subway station is right next to the hotel and we walk from there to Nishiki Market, Gion Corner and Kiyomizu-dera. Bus 93 opposite the hotel will bring you directly to Tenyuji Temple without the hassle of having to change trains. Good location. Will stay there again.

Overall, a clean and pleasant looking hotel with good services and breakfast ”
Location wise, it is just next to exit 4 of marutamachi station. However, there is no elevator for this exit. If you have lugguages with you, take the exit that is just opposite the hotel. Eateries around the hotel is quite limited hence would strongly suggest that you have your dinner elsewhere. Services from the reception is great, they will greet you each time you walk past the reception area. Services from staff manning the breakfast area is awesome too. They are very courteous and friendly. Not forgetting to mention that their breakfast is great. It is a full western breakfast with mains, yogurt, coffee, juice etc. However, the breakfast menu is quite limited. Suggest hotel to have more variety especially for guest who are staying for more than 3 nights. Check in an check out process is very smooth. Overall, I may return to this hotel when I'm back to Kyoto again.

Location ”
Location is good and the room was large with beautiful decor ... next to subway so easy access to all Kyoto without being in the very busy JR station area. Only slight criticism would be the breakfast ,, after 4 nights was needing more choice than the set breakfasts offered ,, A buffet would be far better ..

Best hotel of the holiday”
Of the three hotels we stayed at in Japan, this was our favourite. We spent 4 nights at this hotel and were very happy. We regularly asked the desk staff for advice on where to eat (non-smoking requirement) and for them to book the restaurants for us. The hotel is close to an intersection and there's lots of bus routes to choose from to get around Kyoto, as well as the underground. The rooms (2 people/room) were a good size, in fact they were more European size than the expected smaller Japanese size. This was a criterion we'd used when choosing where to stay and so were not disappointed. In the morning you can choose from either English breakfast in the cafe beside Reception, or Japanese breakfast from the adjacent restaurant. All staff were very friendly and helpful. My main piece of advice is that if you have a heavy suitcase, then use the elevator for the underground exit opposite the hotel, as the one beside the hotel is steps only.
