Gansu Province hotels & places to stay

This clean mid-range hotel has an enviable location opposite Lanzhou Railway Station (not Lanzhou Xi) as well as a main bus station. The staff don't speak any English but were happy to help with translation apps. The room was clean and well apportioned, though did have a lingering smell of stale smoke. The shower was excellent. There are individual unsecured wifi routers in each room - ours didn't work but next doors was good enough for basic internet use. The staff kindly allowed us to leave our rucksacks in left luggage overnight whilst we visited Xiahe. There is a restaurant, spa and small convenience store in the hotel, the latter of which provided cheap food and drink supplies!

We were a group of three friends traveling low budget in Gansu, and we booked this hotel as a one-night-luxury- treatment for ourselves before and after riding long distances Chinese trains. The place is amazing, very close to the train station and airport, and to Dunhuang city, but even closer to Mingsha Shan sand dunes. Rooms are large and clean, very comfortable; staff is friendly and helpful, even though they barely speak English. We asked for a driver and he was a lovely local guy, he showed us around all day and bring us to eat la mian for a very fair price. The buffet breakfast is quite impressive, speaking about China, and the plus is that you eat on the terrace, in front of Mingsha Shan. I really couldn't ask more to this place, great value and highly recommended.

Special thanks to front desk staff Ms Melody to perform a speedy check in for us as we arrive 10 am from early morning flight. She is very attentive and kind. Our hotel rooms air-conditioning was not too cold and after the maintenance staff came, issue had been resolved. Front desk did follow up with calls to confirm on the issue and I'm impressed that next day front desk staff send us some hotel biscuit as courtesy.

I just stayed one night, because of the late arrival. The room was pretty big and clean. Staff was very attentive.

I booked three rooms for our group of six. We’re American students studying Mandarin over in Xi’an and came to Tianshui for the Maijishan grottoes. Great hotel! Very clean, fantastic water pressure, no hidden fees, relatively soft beds. Easy checkin and checkout. It’s about a 25 minute taxi ride from Tianshuinanzhan/Tianshui south station which cost us 35 kuai. About a 10 minute taxi to the Fuxi temple for 8 kuai. Buffet breakfast offered in the morning for 20 kuai. Everyone in our group was really pleased.

Arrived around 9:45 am and was checked into my room, which was comfortable. Slept well. Breakfast buffet was excellent, the best on my 2 week vacation, with food choices labelled in English and Chinese. Hotel is next to the river and there are nice views at night with the lights. I would stay here again.

Very nice hotel and clean. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. 2.2km away from west bus terminal which goes and back from colorful mountain. 6RMB by taxi from west bus terminal.

I reached the hotel passed mid night due to flight delay. But checked in to the room easily and my booking form was on the counter table. The staff are friendly and very helpful. After checkout on 28/10/19, I left my luggage with the hotel since my flight back is near mid night. On my way to the Lanmeixi Station to catch a train to airport, one young man (hometown in Zhangye) help me to get a private taxi and negotiated the price for me. He even help me to carry the luggage. Many thanks to him. One thing is local taxi drivers do not know the hotel well since there are 4 Lanmei Boutique Hotel in Lanzhou. Sometime is it confusing. The breakfast has a wide spread of varieties. Good experience with the hotel

A great place to stay, value for money. I was given a room upgrade, however the electricity at the hotel was down in the morning. It was only restored at night. The building runs on only 1 lift, thus there’s quite a bit of waiting at the lift lobby. Breakfast was too simple. They have white n couscous porridge , simple salad , 2 dishes of local veggies n 2 carbo dishes. There’s hard boiled egg n toast... there’s plenty of something else outside, so this is not a problem. Overall if I do visit Lanzhou again, I would stay a second time.

This is definitely the best place I stayed in China, people that work there are very nice and helpful!! Very clean, good bed and from my tent I could see the rainbow mountains 😊 The tents are next to the rainbow mountains only a short walk from the west entrance. I went there in the morning and in the afternoon, it closes about 8pm. In the evening the colors are brighter than in the morning. I would recommend to go there twice to have the different colors! They have a western toilet now!! They booked me a taxi for my day trips and was affordable and they can book that for you also pick ups they arranged! I would say a MUST stay!!

This is the best accommodation during my trip in GanSu & QingHai. My friend & I had dinner in their in-house restaurant. Food is nice and the staff is friendly.

Located near by east lake and food street. Staffs are very friendly. Took a bus from railway station.

Room is clean and nicely furnished and decorated, same as the photos shown in gallery. Strategically located in Dun Huang town, walking distance to night market, restaurants and shops . Host with superb hospitality! Free access to lounge, pool table, board games etc. Highly recommended.

The hotel is just across the street from the West bus station, from where buses to Danxia Geopark depart. The Big Buddha is a 15 minute walk away. Clean, bright with a good Szechuan resto, again across the street. Download Baidu Translate as only some of the receptionists speak English.

This place is nothing special but is cheap, clean and in the centre of town but a bit hard to find. someone spoke a little English which meant I did not need Google to translate. Good coffee shop 20m away and breakfast was also good from the food carts within 40m. Nothing special and just a place to sleep while you explore Lanzhou which was surprisingly interesting.

This place is fine for a budget traveler wanting to spend a night or two in Zhangye - easy to find, no issues. The road has some useful shops - you can book train tickets as the post office about 10 mins walk away and there is a market with lots of little eating places just north of that. No frills but no complaints either.

I booked this hotel for 2 nights . My first impression is the staffs serve welcome drink(tea) for us. I have booked promotion twin room but they gave us a double room. When I told them , they promptly changed and upgrade to family room for us ( it is a funny family room .. full of cute Peppa pig and cartoon decorations ). The room was so clean . The lobby and hallway have very good clean smell . The location is great. You can walk not over 10 mins to night market . There are many convenient stores, phamarcy and local restaurants near by as well. I was many hotels in china . Even this hotel is 3 stars but I would say Dunghuang hotel is like 5 stars hotel in budget price .. If I have a chance to go back Dunhuang again , I would stay there . Recommend

Slthough we fa e difficulty to heck in due Agoda dix not se t tbe confirmation and we forget to show tbe fouture. Staff did their best to find the reservation and provide tbe required room

We booked room (though it said "domestic residents only" because we live in Shanghai). When checking in here, manager initially refused to honour our booking. After much going back and forth explaining, within 1 hour we were in our room. All in all, it turned out in our favour but that said, be cautious of booking this room - you may have a similar problem. Overall, the hotel is nice, clean and the staff was really quite helpful.

The hotel is above average compared to regular local options but does not measure up to a 4-stars international brand. Conveniently located. Clean, simple rooms. Good value for money

I was received by a staff the moment i alighted from my railway transfer. She helped me with my luggage and ushered me to front desk. However, the front desk seemed to be unaware of my booking took awhile to process. Overall, the room is comfy and comes with a bath tub. Nice, will recommend!

It was nice to find a nice hotel with English speaking staff. The rooms are clean and provide computers, TV and nice robes ! The breakfast buffet is also enjoyable. A little bit far from the train stations, it is hard to negociate with the taxi drivers who tend to rise the prices by 10 for the ride...still cheap compared to other countries.

This is worth visiting. Xiahe is an amazing place and nowhere is better situated than this hotel. The owner, local, speaks perfect English and will organise things for you if you want, but will also leave you alone if you want that. We had a tour around Labrang Monastery and a wonderful tour in the grasslands both set up by the hotel. The hotel has amazing decor which is much beyond expected in something in this price range. All the staff are shy, but very helpful if you ask. They all do a good job and are happy. We had breakfast there every day which is basic but costs very little. Really recommend this place and the staff are great with kids.

This was a great place for my stay in Dunhuang. The hotel was a great value. The owner was extremely kind: set up tours for me, drove me some places, had meals whenever I wanted, let me have a really late check out (10pm) for a 23:30 flight. Even though my Chinese is lacking and her English was minimal, we communicated through apps and everything was great. I definitely recommend it to anyone.

Pros - front desk staff are good in providing service, advice of travel trips. Good location accessible to moukaoku. Cons - room has smoking smell. Hot water needs longer time to get in the morning.
