“Confused Staff. ”
Here is my experience at Andamantra- 1. Check in- It was a terrible experience. We reached the hotel before time at around 11 am. Check in time is 2 pm. The reception desk staff asked us to fill up the form for check in and do the prerequisites. We got everything done within 15-20 minutes. We had booked 3 rooms. I understand since it was the 30th of December and pretty busy. At 2:30/2:45 they gave us key to one room and asked us to wait in that room until cleaning was completed for the other rooms. We were very tired and after crazy amount of pestering the front desk we received the key to other rooms by 5:30 pm. Will they be this accommodating during check out? I am pretty sure they won’t. Extra bed- we paid for an extra bed in one of the rooms, and after pestering the staff for 2/3 hours they left a bed with mattress but no bed linens. In the evening, they set it up after speaking rudely to them around 7 pm. We are not a rude lot but we were forced to by then. Rooms- rooms were clean and huge, view of the sea was beautiful as well. The carts carrying us from rooms to reception was pretty much frequent, we didnot face any issues with it. But you do have to a flexi time of 5 mins in hand for them to come by. Gala dinner- it was compulsory to pay 4,700 baht per person. We had returned from island hopping day trip by 7 evening, and that’s when the gala dinner had started. We wanted to freshen up so we asked at the front desk until what time would the dinner be open so that we had enough time. They said it was until 12 am. So we reached the dinner area by 9 pm. First- they asked us for a coupon and would not let us enter without that. If the reception didnot give us any coupon during payment, then how are we supposed to assume there was one? I showed them the payment bills and then had to wait a good 20 minutes or so for them to call up the reception and confirm. The lady was pretty rude to us during all this time- if it’s compulsory to pay for every guest staying at the hotel then, why do you require extra paperwork?! Second- we reached the buffet area by 9:35 and by then the food was cold, and within 5 minutes of reaching they let us know that they are winding up. 9:35/9:40 isn’t too late. I understand it was New Year’s Eve and the staff should be with their family as well, but then why couldn’t the reception let us know that and we would have made it earlier. Plus if I am supposed to have empathy then they should not make us feel as if we were trying to mooch off free food. The food was terrible, we all had upset stomach the next day, plus they didnot give us water. Charging 4700 baht per person and they could not provide us with water. We checked out the next day at 7:30 am and it took a decent time of 15-20 minutes and wasn’t a lot. I feel the staff and the hotel is overwhelmed and they need to rest, get better training, have better communication network amongst themselves. Oh, and the staff in the spa are amazing!
