As a Heritage hotel, the pleasure of staying is to see the original structure and architecture of historical significance so this is always a treat. In fact, the pervious royal family still live in part of this hotel. It has all the facilities of a good hotel: restaurant, gift shop, pool, game room, massage facilities, bar, etc. The place, however, was a bit run down in need of significant maintenance and restoration. That said, it was clean and the room was fine. Everything worked. Service was a bit slow but ok. Food was mostly Indian but fine. Value was high due to the low cost of most things. I'd recommend it - especially if going the the bird sanctuary since only about 10 minutes away.

It's a really great heritage hotel. There are photos and things of the aristocrats who lived here. There are many picture of duck, elephant, and tiger hunts (Depends on you if you will be happy/sad with them.) Room is really really great, with columns and old but classy and well kept furniture. Hot water is available only from 5:30AM-10AM, and 5:30PM-10PM, so this will be a consideration if you have an early train or bus ride. Restaurant is huge because tour groups often stop in this town to have lunch. Food is okay. Service is impeccable. Staff is very friendly. Travelers go to Bharatpur for the Keolodeo Ghana National Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Aside from this, and the city's fort, there's little to do so a great hotel is a plus. They have a car service, but it charged us too high. Rs 1,800 to go back and forth to the Park, then a ride to the train station. I think they included the waiting time during our 3-hour tour of the Park but they didn't inform us. (The Park is just 5 minutes from the hotel so waiting is unnecessary.)

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights on a birding trip to Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary. The place is a 2-3 minute walk from the Sanctuary entrance, and is very convenient for birders to stay in. However, as has been mentioned earlier, the hotel can get very noisy if there are weddings happening. The room was big, spacious and very comfortable. The bathroom was clean and well lit. Hot water was available. The food was very tasty, albeit a bit pricey. We had a few observations, which, if sorted out, would make this place ideal for birding trips. 1. The kitchen only opens after 7:00am. We wanted an early start, so we had ordered packed breakfast to be delivered the night before. However, due to lack of communication between the front desk and the kitchen staff, our breakfast wasn't ready and we had to wait a long time. 2. There were stains on the bedsheets. 3. No hand towels were provided. 4. No tea/coffee/milk sachets were provided. All in all, a decent place to stay for birders.

Udai Vilas is a well rated place to put up when planning to visit Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary. Hotel staff is very warm, liked the hospitality. Breakfast was very good. Me n wife also enjoyed the evening puppet show. few cons which can be taken care by the hotel that will make it even more awesome place to stay for my next visit: found the bed matresses hard same may be upgraded. Couldnt connect to the complimentary Wi-Fi. Washroom may have better ventilation, also there can be a soap tray placed near the bath area. Overall experience very good, would definitely recommend this to all travellers as this is one of the best known place in Bharatpur to stay with family.

at this price range, this is the best hotel i have stayed for my 2 weeks trip around india. the room is big and clean and furnitures seem new and in good condition. lovely courtyard in the center. the staff was helpful in arranging an early morning auto for my transport to the train station. the restaraunt food is really nice, a little bit more expensive but nice portion. i love the kiran special curry, a bit sweet and not spicy at all. 2 mins walk to the national park entrance

The place had a friendly, personal touch. I could rent bicycles to ride in the park, hire a cycle rickshaw, and book my travel plans to my next destination with the help of the staff. The restaurant staff were flexible in their timings so that we did not have to rush our plans. It was a lovely experience.

This was my first trip to bharatpur. The best season to visit the place either in November or in February so that there is no fog in early morning or in evening. Keoladeo national park is a must visit for people who love photography or who wants to know what photography is and the atmosphere, birds in the sanctuary will make you lost in their own world. About the hotel: Not value for money. Breakfast ok , dinner terrible. Stinking restaurant. The only one good reason which makes this hotel expensive is that it is located inside the national park.

swaraj resort just the best hotel for us during our stay in bharatpur when visiting keoladeo national park. it is walking distance along the road side to the national park. anywhere you can hire a rickshaw if you want. you will feel like home when you stay at this hotel.

1. Food: They cook good food, deliver at rooms at no extra charges and in a fairly quick manner. No non-veg was a turn down for us though. 2. Rooms: Big spacious rooms. Decent in-room facilities (considering the room rates) 3. Hospitality: Well behaved hotel staff (all of them we interacted with) 4. Distance from Bird sanctuary: Stone throw distance. By car not more than 5-7 min (I usually drive quick) 5. Checkin/check out - pretty smooth.

The hotel was close to Keoladeo national park which is why we chose it and the food was great and large portions with reasonable prices .The only down side was out of date beer but in my experience that is a common problem in india

Location is very poor bang on the noisy main road without balcony. You cant sleep peacefully even in night. Hot water is available only in morning hours, so u can't take bath if you have checked in late afternoon. You will find ample mosquito in the room to give them a good feeding of your precious blood. Room service is good but quality of food is bad. Would not recommend it to friends.

A basic but well run guesthouse ideal for budget travellers visiting the nearby bird park. Owned by a photographer with amazing photos. Veg only food (unless you ring in advance)and will allow (but not provide)beer if discrete. Hot water by individual boiler. A good, clean place.

The room was facing the road and garden with multiple windows and good clean toilets with hot water. The food was delicious and clean and staff were very helpful. The hotel is walking distance to the bird sanctuary. Has good facilities for car parking and restaurant. Since it was 31st night the party noise was relentless and we were disturbed deep into the morning with people talking in front of our door. There was a car horning at 4 am relentlessly. The room was very cold and additional heating was to be charged another 400 Rs which we assumed should come with basic facilities for 21$ a night.

We have been at Bharatpur in the 1st week of Oct 2014, Geetanjali Hotel is just 3 km away from the Bird Sanctuary, the hotel is new so there would be less guest the rooms are spacious Staff courteous and the food we had was just awesome and the price reasonable, The breakfast provided was also excellent.. The service provided by the hotel was excellent be it Room Service or travel need they were very co-operative. Overall our experience was very good with this Hotel and it was worth the value... The hotel is very close to the bird sanctuary but a bit impersonal. Rooms are large and do the job. Tea and coffee making facilities and fridge in the room. Bathroom smelt a bit but the shower was good. As other reviewers said the restaurant was decorated in a tacky style and the waiters were a bit over zealous as there was only us and one other group there. Dinner food was fine and a good vegetarian choice. Breakfast was a bit disappointing.
