More about Boston (MA)

Boston's history dates back to the 1600s when colonists first settled in America. The town was founded by English Purists and has featured strongly throughout American history. Today, it's a cosmopolitan city with scores of colleges in the Greater Boston area, including the world famous Harvard and MIT. Perhaps due to its identity as a city of higher learning, Boston has played and continues to play a major role in modern politics, with many of the country's leading figures either hailing from, or educated in, Boston.

Boston is served by Logan International Airport, which is located just over the bridge from the city center.

Downtown Boston is comprised of many historic buildings, the most prolific of which can be discovered on foot by following a path called the Freedom Trail, intersecting with the Black Heritage Trail, which passes through various pre-Civil War sites. Understandably, Boston city center hotels are frequently booked throughout the year, due to their proximity to many of these historic sites and Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox.

The economic and cultural center of New England, Boston is a wonderfully diverse city.
