Chiang Dao is a small town in the northern Thailand province of Chiang Mai, home to some of the most impressive peaks and picturesque natural landscapes in northern Thailand. The easiest way to reach Chiang Dao is through the city of Chiang Mai, either flying to the airport and taking a car up to Chiang Dao, or a local bus to make the approximately 70 kilometer journey from Chiang Mai. The bus ride is around an hour and a half from Chiang Mai, easy enough to do on a day trip if necessary.
Once in Chiang Dao, don’t miss a chance to explore the Doi Chiang Dao Mountain and Chiang Dao National Park. The city is nicknamed the “city of stars” because of the impressive limestones which seem to reach straight to the skies, very impressive at any time of the day, but even more so on a clear night.
