"Very pleasantly surprised to find a small kitchenette and a living room area in addition to the bedroom and bathroom. Would have been very adequate if we have needed it for several days. And the breakfast was fantastic. I had never seen oatmeal that was already made up. I really enjoyed that."

"We stayed at the Hotel Julien while visiting our family in Dubuque over Thanksgiving. The staff was friendly and helpful and the hotel was excellent. It is a beautiful, historic gem in this picturesque river town. I expected smaller rooms with less generous amenities, but I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the rooms and the modern touches. They made staying there a pleasure, while staying true to historic form."

The good thing was it had a good shower (hot water.). Breakfast was decent if you got there early enough after 8am forget it. "

"This hotel was excellent for the money. That being said, I will state that the rooms all face the pool atrium and while we were there, there was a family reunion happening, so the pool area was very noisy and busy with splashing children. I didn't lose any sleep, but I would hesitate to enthusiastically recommend this property if you are simply a couple traveling without children. The room was comfortable and the facilities were clean."

"This hotel is in serious need of repair, particularly the bathroom. Broken tiles, burned out lights, safety bars pulled out & missing. Very small counter. We paid $111.00 for this room. It was clean. The front desk/bartender Kim was pleasant. It is 4 miles from The Port of Dubuque. Next time I would plan ahead & pick a different hotel. "
