General Santos City is the most southern city in the province. The main mode of transport are the little blue trikes which are cheap but can be a bit bumpy and noisy but they are a fun way to get around the town.
Great place to visit gets very hot always very busy in the city great to sit down chill out and people watch great food lots of sea food which is very yummy, people are great and fun to be with
I have been to the Philippines seven times now, and three of those times have been spent in Gensan. It has become my home away from my home (Korea) which is away from my home (USA).
The crime rate is a lot lower then in Manila and close to that of Davao. This place has an airport and a regular bus service (2-3 hours) into Davao. If you have the time to spare, fly into Davao and then take a bus during the day...the scenery is amazing. I have to say that I am a bit biased, since my fiancee lives in Gensan so don't take my word for it; go check it out yourself!
Initially I was in two minds about visiting this region, but was glad we decided too. It is worth visiting the various resorts in Sarangani, even if just for an hour or so.
If you are into diving (which I am not) there is an excellent resort at Lemlunay Resort & South Point Divers. I doubt you will beat their rates elsewhere in Phils. General Santos City is good shopping and we had a fun night out at a nearby resto complete with live band.
The city is good for shopping but lacks cultural places of interest and other things to do. We went in May but later in the year the tuna festival is supposed to be good.
It will give you a chance to look back on time, not in any hurry, very smiple life with so much beauty, to see someone with little but has so much more in life.
A surprisingly easy place to visit. Good airport only a 20 minute ride from town, beautiful beaches east of town and plenty of accommodations for any visitor.
General Santos is a very nice place. People are very friendly. 2 days is enough to stay in General Santos City just to roam around and enjoy the city.
Try to visit their new mall, the Veranza mall where most of the high end stores are located. It is the Greenbelt counterpart of General Santos
the Tuna Capital of the Philippines. great place for tuna delicacy lovers. with certified quality for processed tuna delicacies for export.
from the Dole pineapple plantations, to the snorkeling on coral reefs in Sarangani Bay, to Lake Sebu, there is soo much to see and do here.
Although GenSan is a city, it is a bit laid back. When one wants to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, GenSan is a nice choice.
It offers a night life and local cuisine in very affordable prices.
Gensan per se is not so amazing, but is teh hub ingoing to Sarangani & Lake Sebu. These areas teem with a lot of sight seeings!
Its a good & quiet city. If youre a nature lover, this is your place. Lots of water activities & sightseeing / sports activity.
Don't come if you are from the U.S. EVERYONE ASSUMES YOU ARE RICH, and you feel more like a target than a guest
General Santos City has great beaches, more tourists destinations. Gumasa, Lake Sebu ( zipline) and many more.
I stayed in Phela Grande Hotel while im in the city! I really enjoyed my stay there.
