Hikkaduwa hotels & places to stay

I have been to Sri Lanka several times and experienced many beaches properties within different beach areas of Sri Lanka. I could say Chaaya Trinz Hotel at Hikkaduwa is the best beach Resort ever I tried. The hotel is totally newly refurbished with highly standards and facilities. All the public areas are open air, even the floors’ passages to the rooms in different floors. All the rooms at the property are sea facing rooms. The Standard Room is wide with specious balcony includes cushion bench and dining table overlooking nice view of the hotel swimming pool, garden and the ocean. The rooms of the left wing of the hotel when facing the ocean got more enjoyable view and the higher the better. The Resort has nice swimming pool which is open till late night, wonderful garden area and enjoyable sandy beach. The Resort has four outlets of restaurants, bars and lounges. The main restaurant is air conditioned, superb and serving three meals a day in buffet style with high standard and luxury. The food at the buffet got different types of varieties, such as Sri Lankan, Asian and Continental, nice salad bar and dessert buffet. Also the restaurant has two outside permanent live cooking stations, one for the grills and the other for baking local favorites. The Hotel is offering different types of meal plan, Bed & Breakfast, Half Board and Full Board.

Fantastic we ended up extending and stayed four nights this hotel is nothing short of awesome . The staff are unbelievable friendly they would do anything for you. Restaurants fantastic we are every meal there , are by the pool drinks and food so cheap . Rooms was lively views spectacular we did not want to leave , in fact wish we didn't went to citrus waskaduwa sadly disappointed after Hikkaduwa. Seriously the staff should be commended best in whole of Sri Lanka we will come back for sure

This Hotel is stunning and right on the beach and the main road (other side). Staff is friendly and helpfull the even printed my boardingpasses for me when i asked and gave i booked an extra night with the same condition as booked on Agoda at the reception. Everything is well organized maybe best hotel i have been in Sri Lanka. I recommend this hotel if you go to Hikkaduwa ;)

I stayed at 5 different hotels/resort during my trip to Sri Lanka, and this was the only one that I have no recommendation/complaints about, everything was perfect. Staff where very friendly and helpful, and are able to anticipate your needs very well. Rooms are very neat and clean. Food was excellent and a good variety was offered during breakfast, lunch and dinner Main town of Hikkaduwa is a quick 5 min tuk tuk ride away. Overall i would highly recommend this resort

We were staying there with our family, little son of 3 years old and he loved to jump in the pool and run on the beach which is very easy excess. He has his birthday on the 27th of December and the Hotel management arranged a complementary birthday cake for him, that was a real happening for him! Thanks again Hotel management for arranging the cake. The staff is very attend and cooperative something you don't see in other Hotels in Sri Lanka. It's very good located, close to the center of Hikkaduwa and walking distance from the surfing area.

There wasn’t one single faculty at this hotel that wasn’t perfect. The staff, cleanliness and the property itself were all excellent. It’s set back from the ocean and gives the feel it’s much more secluded (but actually near several good restaurants and other amenities if you wanted surf lessons or a cocktail and a dance further down the beach). The food was the best I’d eaten in Sri Lanka with particular credit due for the seafood. We stayed in the Vanilla Suite which had the luxury of a hot tub on the balcony overlooking the ocean, and it was absolutely superb. I wouldn’t change a single thing about this hotel. We spent most days in the pool or lying on the beachside waiting for 4pm (where the staff put out fresh tea and coffee and a slice of cake) lying down on the various sun loungers. We spent ten days in Sri Lanka and lucky enough to see a lot of nice hotels - this was the nicest of every hotel we’ve ever stayed in, perhaps ever. Thank you Villa Saffron!

We stayed at the Asian Jewel for 5 nights at the end of our 3 week stay in Sri Lanka. What a high note to end on! We stayed in the Kingfisher room overlooking the pool and with access to a large verandah. Dale & Tanya have invested their hearts into their "home from home" and obviously take pleasure in hosting a luxurious, select stay for their guests. They are attentive to their clients needs always asking if everything is OK and have definitely instilled a customer service focus to their staff who are all a delight to meet and talk to. The room was very comfortable with a personal safe & Sat fed TV. Ensuite bathroom was embellished and enhanced by daily flowers and greenery. The poolside was a haven of tranquility. A regular evening pre-dinner cocktail set the scene for the following meal delights from the menu which offered a wide-choice. Breakfast was wonderful. Not hard to see why the Asian is such a Jewel and consistently receives high praise! Thankyou.

Clean comfortable rooms, good location. Chief manager is very friendly and always ready to help. To type of breakfast: lanka or continetal. There is "turtle point" not far from, near the hotel Hikka Tranz. Wild big turtles come here to feed and you can see its and touch. The ocean is good to swim but too many people.

I was the second time in Ramnal and was very pleased. As usual in Sri Lanka, not everything is perfect. You just have to tell it and it will be fixed in a short time (e.g. Toilet water, safe, air condition. The rooms arr worth the price. The good thing that the resort is managed by the Sri Lanka family Ranmal. The hotel is by far to low rated. It deserves 8 of 10 points.

I stayed at the Sapphire Seas Beachfront Villas for 4 days in March 2016. I found the place to be just great. Situated just a short tuk tuk ride from Hikkaduwa centre, it has just 10 rooms I think. This allows for a peaceful stay with a near perfect outlook onto the beach and the ocean just yards away. The rooms are a good size, spotlessly clean as are all the amenities there such as the swimming pool. The owners are kind and caring and nothing is too much trouble for them. Although I only ate there once (I think), the food is lovely, prepared well and tasty. Before I went tto Sri Lanka I read the reviews about this property which seemed excellent, and having experienced it myself I can safely say it is a lovely place to stay in Hikkaduwa without hesitation. Thank you for a great stay.

Relaxing new place with amazing staff and friendly owner, Dinesh. Eco friendly hotel. Rooms were spacious and clean. Ushan Dushyantha, the staff member at the bar/restaurant area was exceptional. We asked the kitchen staff if they were able to make some local seafood appetizers (deviled seafood) as it wasnt mentioned on the menu and without hestiation they prepared it for us. The hotel is far enough from the busy and loud Hikkaduwa area, but close enough to walk to the bars and restaurants in Hikkaduwa. Highly recommended for anyone who is looking for a place to relax as well as seeking the night life within a close proximity. Thank you for making our very short stay pleasant and memorable. I researched Villa 46 and looked at many reviews for many of the 4 & 5star hotels on Agoda. I have also stayed at quite a few 5 stars hotels and top reated AirBnB's in Sri Lanka already so my expectations were somewhat blown out of the water when I arrived at Villa 46. The first thing that shocekd me was why the establishment is not 5 star! The building is stunning and imaculate! Every aspect of the environment from front doow to the edge of the ocean was excellent. I have stayed at 3 star hotals all over SE Asia and this was a match for the best and easily out did the rest. Its a 4 Star that punches well above its weight. The Staff were also 5 star but with a 6 star Chef in Dhammika. He would put some of the worlds Michelin star holders to the test! His food is made with passion and flare and everything he made for me was sublime. If I had a restuarant, I would be head hunting this guy, he is a real talent and an absolute gentleman. I cannot forget Colin and the other guys who looked after me and treated me like Lord of the Manor. I cannot thank them enough. I had caught Dengue Fever in the Sri Lanka outbreak a month prior to the visit to Villa 46 and was in need of some relaxation after recuperating! I could not have found a better hotel, in fact, it was that good that I stayed an extra night. I cannot recomend Villa 46 highly enough, it is the best place I have stayed at in Sri Lanka by a mile. There are no suggestions that I would make on how they can improve! They have covered all the bases. The Internet is lightening fast, the rooms are lovely, roomy and very comfortable. The food is 11 out of 10, the staf are liek angels and the actual Villa itself is magical. I left Villa 46 with a desire to go back in November when I return to Sri Lanka. I will be staying here without a doubt. I am also inspired to buy land in the area and hopefully build my own dream home here. Then I can get more of Dhammika's amazing food. Final point, I have returned home to Brighton

We arrived here noon and were given fresh welcome drink so nice. Then they gave us the room quickly and we were surprised as they had decorated our bed on my partner's birthday Wow... Comfortable bed and amazing sea view. We had sri lankan Breakfast in their restaurant which was delicious. Spent rest of the times on sun beds and private beach on door step. did not like to leave this place. We'll definitely come back and would recommend for those who need a relaxing and comfortable stay..!

This small Hotel is a joy for heart and soul! the lovely german owner made a fantasic job in design, atmosphere and comfort for this lovely new Hotel. the beach is quite and beautyfull but the party beach hekkaduwa is just arround the corner if you want more action. the small city has everything you need and small restauranta and tuktuks are arround.But the problem is: you don't want to leave this beautyfull place. we booked 2 nights and stayed a week. the sound of the sea and breakfast in the sand is just magic. absolutely the best stay in Sri Lanka and for sure the best value for money. where can you wake up with the sound of the waves and have a look on the peacefull ocean for this price? Thank you!

5 star facilities with a boutique hotel hospitality. The beach is stunning, the pool is great, and the rooms are modern and spacious. It was our anniversary, and they heard it and made a special cake for us. Dinner was delicious and breakfast was very good and generous. I would definitely recommend.

From the minute we arrived the staff at Roman Beach Hotel were extremely accommodating there's not many hotels that will check you in at 5:00am! We stayed in the Caeser room which had incredible interior design, a massive spa bath and stunning views of the waves. It's a great novelty that the only sounds you hear are the crashing of the waves. The staff are very friendly and love to share information about the local area and cuisine. Hikkaduwa beach is a long coastline and Roman Beach have definitely situated themselves on the best part. The must try dinner dish is the Sri Lankan curry and rice, we had it almost every night and the chef gave us so much diversity it was delicious and cheap! The pool is lovely with deck chairs that look over the pool and ocean. If you are a surfer or learning to surf there are a lot of fun beach break waves and plenty of board and lesson hire guides along the beach. Outside the hotel on the beach there is a cheap massage shack. This hotel is the best hotel on Hikkaduwa beach enjoy!

nippon villa beach resort is a great mid-value hotel in hikkaduwa. using "resort" in its name is perhaps something of an exaggeration-- it feels more like a solid three-star hotel-- but you pay much less than the prices at the true resorts in the area. the hotel is right on the beach, between the good surfing beaches to the southeast and the good swimming/snorkeling beaches to the northwest, putting guests within easy access of either. the pool in view of the beach makes it a great place for kids, and the tables next to the pool with their relaxing ambiance make a great place to relax. you can stay cheaper in surfer/backpacker hostels and guesthouses, but you get the basic luxuries of hotel life (hot water, ac, breakfast, etc) here, and you'll probably miss out on at least one of those if you look for something cheaper.

a very pleasant stay experience in neela's, the location is right beside the hikkaduwa's beach, food in neela's is good, there also a lot other guest house and restaurant around there, enjoyed breakfast on the india ocean, leisure beach life is exactly ppl need from time to time, miss Sri Lanka already!

Stayed at several SL hotels during my wife and I recent 16 holiday. By far the best was Vesma- the staff are wonderful and the accommodation and food are 1st class. Many thanks, R & J Dundee, Scotland

The best thing about Turtles Rest is the friendly staff and how welcome they make you feel. We also met the owners, who were great. The hotel is situated right in between the two beaches so you have easy access to everything. Giant Sea Turtles are a two minute walk away from the large front garden. We fed them by hand with seaweed. An unforgettable experience and would 100% recommend this place to anyone travelling to Hikkaduwa.

We had a very good and comfortable stay for 4 days at the blue ocean villa. The staff answered us every question in fluent German or English. The rooms had a lot of space and are clean. I would recommend the place to my friends

We booked to stay at Vibration for 2 nights and ended up staying an extra night, as it was in a great location, we could walk to nice cafes, beach bars and the ocean was 1 minute walk across the road. It was low season during our stay so the hotel was very quiet, but it meant we got a very cheap rate on the room. We'd love to see the hotel in high season when it's bubbling, I expect there would be a really great atmosphere and their Friday night parties are famous for booking famous DJs, who sometimes play with a live band. We're hoping to return so we can experience a Friday night there. Finally, the pool has recently been completed and it gorgeous, it's set in well maintained gardens and is a really tranquil spot to relax and chill out. My only complaint is that the Wifi is only available in the bar area. We were in the room closest to the bar so could pick up the Wifi but with a very weak signal which made browsing the net frustrating. Adding wifi to the rooms would be my only improvement, as we have to continue working online whilst we travel, it's important for us.

My goodness... why did we not plan for more time in Hikkaduwa? Why did we not plan for more nights in Oasis Villa? Well, we will certainly plan better for any return to Sri Lanka. Hikkaduwa was our last full day of our 3 week trip, so we searched for a nice hotel and used the 'pool' filter, and this is how we found Oasis Villa. What a gorgeous hotel! The room was clean, AC, Wifi, nice shower. the pool was so relaxing and refreshing. Beautiful plants and trees on the grounds. Staff could have been a bit more attentive. They do not serve any meals. They are on opposite side of street to the beach, but only a 1 minute walk. Its a 1 km walk to the Cargills and to the good snorkeling spots of Hikkadua. Im writing this review after just returning home to winter and cold... and wishing I was back at Oasis Villa!

It's a great place. The pool was clean and fun but deep at 4.5ft where kids can't enjoy that much. The owner was very friendly and respectful of our privacy which we loved. His wife even prepared dinner on short notice which was great. The outdoor BBQ area is excellent but make sure you bring your own charcoal, meat and fire starters. There is a P&S restaurant close by where you can buy dinner and breakfast if needed. Beware of the rail crossing which is not monitored. My car almost got hit by a train if not for the locals who signalled and made me reverse. It is very hot at night with no ventilation in the bedrooms. Airconditioning is needed. I'll definitely ask for AC next time before I book. All in all we had an excellent time. It's a great place and good value for money.

I spent 4 days at Tamara Motels. Would love to spend more, but had to go. The owner of the motel met me with a huge smile and glass of chilled orange juice. The surrounding is full of green plants and flowers. As soon as I checked in and entered the room I was fully satisfied. The room was clean and looking good. Tamara (the owner) said that she could make a bfast for me every morning if I wanted. I agreed and didn't regret about that. She made a queens' bfast for me nicely served and delicious. Tamara and her family did everything possible to make my stay comfortable and pleasant. I was very sad to leave the place. For sure next time if I come back to Hikkaduwa I will book this motel again))))

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Blue Sky from the 28th Dec 2016 - 2nd Jan 2017. Upon arriving we where greeted by the Hotel Manager, he mentioned that he was waiting for us, which was very welcoming. He immediately gave us the key and showed us to our room. Our bag where bought up within a minute. The room was ok, nothing fancy had air conditioning in the room with a fan. No TV and No Internet. Good Points: Air Conditioning Fan Netting around the bed Ask to get your room cleaned Fresh towels Bad Points: Holes in the wall and ceiling No TV No WiFi Hot Water only available when the sun is out Bugs where coming in from the ceiling holes I would recommend this hotel for anyone who will not spend a lot of time in the room and will only use it for sleeping in. Cheap and Cheerful I would say. The Restaurant downstairs is not great, some of staff can not speak English, breakfast is ok, just make sure you get what you order. I ordered fried eggs sunny side up, instead I got an omelette, sent that back got a fried egg half cooked, sent that back and finally a more presentable fried egg came out. The staff are very slow and think that presentation is key, but the food gets cold by the time it comes out to you. The hotel is part of Ritas Hotel about 100m away where you can use the sun beds. The hotel has a Tuk Tuk at your disposal (Nice).

Nice clean hotel with spatious rooms, excellent beds and the best bathrooms I have seen in Sri Lanka. Quality of the shower can't be better. Some staff is too young and without experience, they don't offer drinks on the pool etc, my impression is that they can be easily better, but I rest very satisfied with our stay there. I recommend this hotel.
