The Holland Hotel
Downtown,Jersey City (NJ) - View on map
"Holland Hotel will be our place to stay when we visit our families and friends living in Jersey City and Queens New York. We did not break the bank staying here for 3 nights on Thanksgiving weekend. The location is perfect close to Jersey city and New York city. A lot of free parking. The room was spacious enough and very clean. It has two double beds. The bed was big enough for two people. Room also have small refrigerator, small microwave, flat screen tv, a safe, a hair dryer, a small desk and an office chair and a lounge chair. In the morning the hotel offers free coffee, cereal, doughnuts, croissants, fruits, and newspaper. The only one thing I was concern about was the room we stayed was next to 12th street traffic going in thru the tunnel. But the noise was not a factor at all because there was hardly any traffic at night. Overall I will rate our stay a ***** five stars. I will definitely return and recommend it to our friends. "

Sonesta Simply Suites Jersey City
The Waterfront,Jersey City (NJ) - View on map
"Pluses: (1) Parking is $25 per day with in and out privileges as a self park (no valet like Manhattan). (2) Rooms are large for NYC. Even though it's in Jersey City, it is a 10 minute walk to Exchange place train where it takes you to the World Trade Center., so it's an extension of the city. (3) Bicycle friendly, great for the 5 boro ride or anytime noting the large rooms makes bike storage easy. I have stayed at different hotels on Manhattan and bike storage is a struggle in small rooms. (4) Location: Even though it's not located in Manhattan, it has a cool little area nearby. It's easier to access if approaching the city than the west (no bridge or tunnel lines) than Manhattan. (5) The kitchen and Lots of towels. Service is weekly, but there is a kitchen with supplies and lots of towels for rooms with a pull out bed. The bedroom is a separate room too. it's like a small apartment. (6) Views: You can see the skyline . You cant when in Manhattan. "

"The bed is comfortable and it's quiet in the night. I like Jersey City, it's close to New York but there are fewer people. What's most, there is free shuttle to Newark airport."

Hyatt House Jersey City
The Waterfront,Jersey City (NJ) - View on map
"This hotel is great value for money if you are considering New York offering better value room rates than Manhattan. You can take the ferry across the Hudson river from outside the hotel to visit the sights and return to the hotel in the evening for memorable views of the Manhattan skyline. Outside the hotel Jersey City have pedestrianised and decked out the waterfront area with seating and were offering free outdoor jazz with the skyline as the backdrop. There is also a 9/11 memorial made from the twisted remains of the twin towers ironwork. The hotel was clean, the bed was comfortable and the large walk in shower was good. Breakfast is on the 11th floor with views over the Hudson river and New York harbour. The close by 'City Diner' is a good option for evening food and drinks with the locals. Parking is available through the hotel and with local providers."

"My stay was great however I wish there's more flexibility as far as early check in. I arrived @ 11am since I flew in red eye. I was advised that I have to wait since the check in is not till 3pm. No offer of "let's see what we can do..." or "how about we call you when a room is ready much earlier than 3pm....". I would have greatly appreciated that especially been on the plane for 10 hours from two different cities. It felt like "it is what is" you're just gonna have to wait..." The restaurant was great including the staff. The valet staff seemed disinterested in assisting. The room is great. "

Doubletree Jersey City Hotel
The Waterfront,Jersey City (NJ) - View on map
"the doubletree jersey city hotel is a nice hotel with big comfortable rooms. the riverside is a 5 minute walk and you get excellent views of the ny skyline. the area is also very nice with all the exclusive hotels and restaurants in close proximity. there is also a shopping mall right across the hotel with macys and other departmental stores and a movie theater as well. the only thing you need to remember is that every time you will go to ny, you have to pay $12 for the lincoln tunnel. in addition to that, there is no free parking, for 24 hours, you have to pay for self park or 28 for valet. i stayed there for 3 nights and for every night you have to add plus $12, which is extra per night of stay if you will be going to ny, and i presume most people will. so make sure to calculate that in addition to the room tariff. More about Jersey City (NJ)

Sitting across the Hudson River from New York City, Jersey City is the state of New Jersey’s second largest city. It serves as an ideal destination for both leisure and business travelers. Something of a little cousin to The Big Apple, Jersey City offers museums, parks, and convenient access to iconic sites. The city can be reached via the Newark Liberty International Airport.

Jersey City is split into several unique districts. The historic downtown features restored brownstones and the historic neighborhoods of Hamilton Park, Harsimus Cove, and Van Vorst Park. The waterfront is considered by the locals to be a part of the downtown area, but it is usually categorized as its own neighborhood due to its remarkable difference from the historic downtown. The Heights is where to be for excellent views of the Manhattan skyline and well-preserved Victorian mansions. Liberty State Park can be found in the district of the same name and is as large as New York’s Central Park, offering great views of Manhattan, Ellis Island, and the Statue of Liberty. More parks can be found in West Side, and the commercial heart of the city is nestled in Journal Square.
