Traveler impressions of Lampang
This city is very unique for old northern Thai life style. If you like this kind of Thai culture, you have to visit this city.
Lampang is a delightful provincial capital, famous for its horse drawn carriages which take tourists round the city.
Great place to stop and spend a night if you are heading north. Nice to get out walk around and see a few sights before getting to Chang Mai.
Lampang it a small charming city you should have time for travel and look at the old stuff and old building here.
Wat Phra Tat Lampang Luang (don't miss it), Wat Phra Kaew Don Tao, Wat Tah Ma-O and many Buddhist temples and monasteries.
Interesting for one night. As it is not so touristy there is the opportunity to really get into Thai culture.
Everywhere the problem was communication- In Lampang not many people can understand English, sometimes not even the simplest English.
Lampang is an ancient city, remain the beautiful old temples around the city, should have two or three days to visit all, also, there are national heritages around the interesting points.
Good province to visit and shopping Shopping Ceramic / Kitchenware Visit Elephant Foundation Center Visit Evening market Visit Mine Museum Wat Phra That Lampang Luang (Temple)
Little city, nice people, good surronding like north thai traditional urban area, cleane air, romance culture.
Lampang is a very friendly city and locals told me it is what Chiang Mia was like 20 years ago. It is still very traditionally Thai.
A lovely place to visit. Plenty of beautiful wats to see and historical ruins too. We took a short horse and cart ride round the town which the kids loved and a good way to find places you might want to visit.
A quaint city with horse drawn cart/carriage to get around. Old teak houses with a weekend walking market.
Please note: All of Northern Thailand will be very smoky in March & April due to farmers burning their fields.
I think I have said enough about the city of Lampang but don't forget to visit not just the government Elephant Conservation Centre between Chiang Mai and Lampang but ALSO the [private Elephant Hospital next door.
Charming quaint oldest town in Thai history which is suppose to be full of wealth. Lampang is a gem that is only known to locals
Beautiful forests and national parks with richest green mountain vegetation, perfect hidden temples in the heart of the hills and absolute quiet venues.
Northern Thailand at it's best. See it before it becomes another Sukhothai, Ayuthaya or the likes...
I canb recomend Lampand . It's a very interesting glimpse into the non tourist part of Thailand . The people are friendly and the the food is excellent value .
Charming, unspoilt, plenty to do, some of the temples are magnificent, as is the Baan [whatever], the wooden home that everyone talks about! It is a very relaxed place, perfect for cycling or motor-biking.
Lampang is another Northern province you shouldn't miss out if you travel by car. There are many historical places, temples which were built so grand in the past.
Nov/Dec/Jan is always best time to visit Thailand weather-wise, however off season that is to say long rainy season which lasts from May though October is a great bargain, plenty of availability, locals not stressed out by too many foreign visitors although rainy season not recommended for beach resorts because of the jellyfish, northern thailand is great

More about Lampang
The city is accessible by regular service via air, train, bus, and car from Bangkok and all other major cities in the north, especially Chiang Mai.
Lampang is famous for its old school charm, including the horse-drawn carriages that are all over the streets and serve as replacements for the ubiquitous tuk-tuks found in most other cities in Southeast Asia. The other thing for which Lampang is most famous is its extensive history which dates back to hundreds of years ago, and Ban Sao Nak Museum is a great place in which to explore the historic artifacts and exhibits that tell the history of this region and its people.
Besides Bangkok, Wat Phrakaewdontao, more commonly known as the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, is the only temple with this particular Buddha statue, and has earned its place as a popular destination.
