Basically it a big city with lots of nature attraction nearby. We would highly recommend tourist to go to Mt Rigi.
If you are into shopping, there are many luxury brand shop and local shops within walking distance from the Chapel Bridge.
Beautiful city with Mount Pilatus looming behind the picturesque Chapel Bridge. Would take a day trip out to Mount Pilatus as well as the Swiss Museum of Transportation.
A really small old town with good shopping and dining options. Being a Swiss city, the dining could be a little steep.
All must visit places will be brief by tourist information counter in Train station. They did a good job on it.
Nice map will be provided, train information, schedule well printed. I need to compliment the local.
Very toursity town. Probably too much has been said by everyone else about Luzern as it is rather well known city.
You have tourists from all over the world congregating here. Mount Pilatus is worth a visit for those interested in hiking and taking in the views. The strength of the Chinese economy is very obvious. Most retailers have hired Chinese staff to cater to the Chinese tourists.
Area around the train station seems to be a bit messy with some gangsters. Anyway, it is a good place for relaxation.
Luzern was beautiful. Best way to get around is by the bus (or foot if your hotel is around the lake area).
One single trip by the bus is expensive. Best way is to get the day pass, it would save you a lot of francs especially if you intend to use the bus frequently. Please visit Mount Pilatus, Mount Rigi if possible.
Beautiful city, the lake is amazing. You can see mountains from your hotel window. Fresh air, amazing city!
As tourists with heavy luggage on our first trip by train, we were impressed with the train station facilities and the tourist information centre located within the train station.
I regret not to ask for the lady at the Tourist information centre. She was very helpful with her suggestions on the many places to visit not only in Luzern but also in Zurich when she found out that we will be visiting Zurich after Luzern. She gave us the Zurich tour guide to plan for our visit. Her knowledge and recommendation about the Rosengart Collection convinces us to drop by to the museum and we were not disappointed with our visit to the museum. We highly recommend to art lovers to drop by and see the Rosengart Collection. The Picasso paintings and Klee paintings provide you a different perspective of the painters' collection as they are collected by a friend and art collector rather than from a commercial point of view of a museum.
It is not bad at all i have been stayed in this hotel many time i visit luzern All you need it around you and close
Beautiful view for sightseeing, amazing mountain view. food wise, if u like pizza and kebab, congrats, roadside full of pizz and kebab restaurant.
I guess May is the best season to go.
In general, everything was fine. If you want to buy the pocket knives, buy them in Lucerne. Many shops provide engraving service.
We had a great dinner at Stadkeller which provided folk shows. You need to pay for the shows or you order the meals with fee included. It cost about chf40 per person. But we had a bad experience at the snack stall near the lake. We were there to buy ice-cream. There was no queue that we let two pairs of couples who arrived later than us to buy things. When they finished their order and paid, my friend said, "Excuse me, may I...". The female staff stopped her and said, "They came first." We were very angry because we actually arrived there first and waited patiently after the late comers. How come we were treated that way? Is it racism?
Very lively city with lots of nice bridges and houses. Great city view is possible from the city wall.
Suitable to explore on foot.
Beautiful city but also the most expensive that we visited in Switzerland. Restaurants are really overpriced and some staff were not especially friendly to tourists.
Bike rental was also much more expensive than anywhere else in switzerland. The scenery is fantastic.
Go to Titlis mountain via Engelberg. Also go to take Glacier Express by changing train in Andermatt.
unfortunately we could stay but one night and Lucerne. While that gave us sufficient time to experience the old city, on our return we will stay longer to allow us to do several sidetrips.
I've had the pleasure to visit Luzern twice. It is a beautiful, relaxing city as all of switzerland are.
The cities of switzerland are not as quaint, magical, as when you get to drive through its many highways, country roads and stop by its out-of-way restaurants in the mountain top. Thus I recommend Luzern in the way I do for Geneva, Zurich etc. - Treat them as a point to point stop as you rent a car and travel around the country. See the touristy sights (I don't usually recommend tourist attractions, but in switzerland the attractions are usually historic with very few elbow to elbow crowds. And they are usually cheap and allow you to time travel in your mind, not with information tour guides seemed to have memorised), lose yourself for an hour or two and stay for a day but not more because as a rule each city isnt that filled with different culture. Then move on with your road trip and enjoy the countryside/
Luzern is a must come city of Switzerland. If you want to buy Rolex watches in Switzerland, Luzern is the must place for you as Bucherer's headquarter is here where you can get the rare models that you cannot buy from other cities in Switzerland.
