miri is one of the good state in sarawak to do shopping,but they are still having gangsterism around which could frightened the visitors
The environment in Miri are very calm and peacefull. the population here are multi races but in harmony living
Miri is a small town which we would go and have a short holidays for shopping and food. There are clubs like the celebrity which you enjoy some hard drinks and listen to some nice live band.
Miri may be a city, but I feel that it still has a long way to go to actually be able to label itself as one.
Miri is not a big city. If you just walk around the city, you can do it within 2 days. But if you want to feel the nature, extend you holiday to 5 days.
Pretty good for shopping. So far it has been safe for me. I did hear stories about crimes and car-thefts in the past.
Please get miri friend to tell you the good and interesting place to tour around, not need agent. you go by free and easy, but more fun if you know the local people to share around
The Miri city is one of the biggest city of teh Sarawak district with continuous development and growth yet still preserving the natrual touch around it for nature lovers and sightseeing.
You can find a reasonable amount of things to keep you busy both in and around the exterior of Miri. It's a weekend break for most Expats from Brunei and has a selection of eateries and drinking places.
This city may not offer a lot of things unless you wanted to explore some caves which were require to travel by car or join some tour around.

Its a small young city. People are friendly and warm in general. Inexpensive to get around. It will still take time to mature as a city but its a great experience to see a new city grow.

Miri grew from a fishing village to an oil town due to the discovery of oil & the town prosper together with the Oil & Gas industry.
