Hotel Abrego
Monterey City Center,Monterey (CA) - View on map
"We stayed at the Abrego the night we arrived in Monterey ahead of the start of a three night stay at Pebble Beach Resort. Money aside, I liked the rooms at the Abrego better. The rooms were exceptional, with bathrooms and beds that made us think about remodeling out bedroom suite at home. The hotel is conveniently located and one of the (surprisingly) less expensive options around Monterey. Highly recommended."

InterContinental The Clement Monterey
Near Center,Monterey (CA) - View on map
"We were doing a road trip from SF to LA, Monterey bay was our 1st stop along pacific coastal highway, and understand that there is a submarine Monterey Canyon just outside in the sea! Location of the hotel was excellent, by the sea, next to the aquarium, in the heart of cannery row, it is a luxurious hotel in Monterey. The building looks like an old sardine factory, our room balcony has partial view to the sea, spacious room and toilet, comfortable stay. Harry the otter, mascot of Monterey was placed on the bed to welcome us. Good gym facilities with a small outdoor pool. Car has to be valet park @ usd27 -overnight parking (or self park by the road side, which we are not too sure about the parking meter charges). Given such premium hotel rate, I would highly think that parking charges should be waived for hotel guests. A lot of nice restaurants around the hotel, suitable for families. It took us 30 mins on foot to walk to Fisherman's village.. 20 mins to Lover's point, and harbour seals can be spotted along the path. It is indeed a marine sanctuary. It is also a short drive to go to 17 miles scenic drive and onwards to pebble beach and to LA."

Discovery Inn Monterey
Seaside,Monterey (CA) - View on map
"This was excellent and the beautiful flowers around the front of the room entries were better than any landscaping I have ever seen at any motel. Rooms were larger than average. Remodel quality was considerably better than normal. All colors, linens and drapes were fine quality and well chosen to make the setting first class. Even the hardware was top quality. The only area that could be improved was the water. Mineral content is very high in the Monterey area and that makes hard water. You must soften it. It was a little too soft ... just needs a small adjustment."

"Walked across the Golden Gate Bridge, watch out for crazy bicyclists, drove into Marin county, took trolley cars, ate at Fisherman’s Wharf, explored Cannery Row, saw a Car Expo at Monterey Bay, this was the perfect location."

"Great, quaint and well equipped rooms, not only in keeping with the Spanish theme but plenty of modern features too. Didn’t get a chance to fully explore the hotel but the bar and fire-pit were excellent as well - would stay here again and recommend to a friend too."

Portola Hotel and Spa

"We choose this hotel because of their location. They located nest to the "Monterey State Historic Park" & lively "Fisherman's Wharf". You can leave your car and have some tasty meals just 3-minutes walk. The hotel building design blend with the original historic building. We love the adjustable shutters in the guest room instead of curtain(good for those who has allergy). "

"Perfect. Absolutely happy with my stay there. Got in touch with Diane from Concierge two months before my stay to see if any help could be done for my proposal and was beyond satisfied with the outcome. Got help from Leticia and also Front Office Tyler throughout the event. One of my most memorable hotel stays ever. Highly recommend Hyatt Regency to anyone looking at spending a night or two in Monterey. Thank you Diane, Leticia and Tyler once more for making my stay such a great one."

Days Inn by Wyndham Monterey Downtown
Monterey City Center,Monterey (CA) - View on map
"Spotlessly clean, sufficient breakfast and friendly staff. For what we paid, it was excellent value for money and we’d definitely stay again. My one and only complaint was that there were lights on outside the room and the curtains were not long enough to effectively keep the light out (at least in the room we stayed in). So if you are partial to a very dark room like I am, best take an eye mask. "

Economy Inn

"i booked this room last minute to make it to Car Week,. It was definitely the lowest price in town but I quickly learned why once there. The room was "non-smoking" but smelled heavily of cigarette smoke. I later found a half smoked cigarette under the bed when I removed the comforter (which had cigarette burns in it). The pillows also smelled like smoke. Overall the room was pretty haphazard, no hanger rod, the fan in the bathroom did not work, the drains smelled badly the and the tub was plugged up during every shower. That said, the man at the front desk was helpful and pleasant but it's clearly a small operation. "

More about Monterey (CA)

A popular weekend destination for Californians of neighboring cities, Monterey is a beautiful coastal city with more history than most other cities in California. Most visitors arrive by car, as the popular Pacific Coast Highway runs through the city, but Monterey Peninsula Airport also serves many flights from neighboring cities and is located within a short drive of the city center.

Monterey State Historic Park is actually the old town, with its many historic buildings from the days of Monterey as the capital of the California territory. This area is the perfect place to really get to know the history of Monterey and all of California, and guided tours are readily available for visitors who don’t want to miss any important sites.

Being a coastal city, Monterey enjoys great access to some of the most prolific ocean views and marine life in the area. The Monterey Bay Aquarium is a world-class research and conservation facility, and one of the most popular attractions in the city. A visit to Monterey is bound to be a slow and quiet trip, the perfect antidote for California’s many other party cities. For ultimate relaxation, book a beachfront hotel along the Monterey coastline and really enjoy the stunning beauty of this city.
