Monterey (CA) hotels & places to stay

We choose this hotel because of their location. They located nest to the "Monterey State Historic Park" & lively "Fisherman's Wharf". You can leave your car and have some tasty meals just 3-minutes walk. The hotel building design blend with the original historic building. We love the adjustable shutters in the guest room instead of curtain(good for those who has allergy).

Perfect. Absolutely happy with my stay there. Got in touch with Diane from Concierge two months before my stay to see if any help could be done for my proposal and was beyond satisfied with the outcome. Got help from Leticia and also Front Office Tyler throughout the event. One of my most memorable hotel stays ever. Highly recommend Hyatt Regency to anyone looking at spending a night or two in Monterey. Thank you Diane, Leticia and Tyler once more for making my stay such a great one.

Lovers Point is just on the door step and it’s a great viewing area. Recent reviews of the hotel made me nervous but the room was clean and the bed was one of the best I’ve ever found in any hotel. The decor is dated but it’s ok. Services are basic. Breakfast is pretty basic so we went out. Fernando the chap who checked us in was helpful and courteous. No complaints about staff from us.

We stayed at the Abrego the night we arrived in Monterey ahead of the start of a three night stay at Pebble Beach Resort. Money aside, I liked the rooms at the Abrego better. The rooms were exceptional, with bathrooms and beds that made us think about remodeling out bedroom suite at home. The hotel is conveniently located and one of the (surprisingly) less expensive options around Monterey. Highly recommended.

Lighthouse Lodge is quiet, pleasant, close to the beach & Butterfly Grove, plenty of trees. An older facility, but kept in good repair. Friendly, accommodating staff; very good breakfast; nice pool area. No rowdy guest parties! We had a problem with Priceline canceling our Agoda reservation - without our knowledge or approval; but, the staff honored our request with no hesitation. Thank you!!!

We had just finished a lovely 3-night stay at a Best Western Plus in Colton, CA, so our expectations for this BWP in Monterey were rather high, I suppose. There were a few let-downs, but only by comparison. There was no AC in the room, only heat, so we didn't get the white noise we wanted for the baby, which was especially a problem because the elevators were right on the other side of our wall, and we could hear it going up and down every couple of minutes (this was in room 301). The king mattress was actually a queen mattress. Staff was less friendly than the staff in Colton. The breakfast selection was decent, but smaller. No microwave (which we had in Colton), but at least we had a fridge, and it had clearly been bleached, so wow, yeah, but hey at least no germs! Wi-Fi was great. It's easy to walk to the lovely downtown area and Fisherman's Wharf. I should probably give it a better "value for money" rating, but I'm a Broke AF grad student so my perception of value is kinda warped.

The hotel is centrally located with lots of dining options around & easy access to everything. The room had a beachy cottage feeling & is literally across the street from the wharf. At least a 5-10 mins walk only. There is a fee of $20 for parking in the underground garage... the only downside. The hotel should have reserved spaces for checking in. Since there is no space in the front of the lobby. You'll have to drive into the garage, find a parking & walk to the lobby from the garage. Yes some stuffs were out dated, like the counter tops in the living room area & some furniture, but it wasn't a big deal to me. I thought it was still cute & so did my kids. It was well equipped with a microwave, fridge & coffee maker. Some silverware, plates & cups were provided in the room as well. The bathrooms & beds looked updated & the beds were comfortable. The down blanket was super warm too. The closet was super small & will not fit a medium size suitcase. Maybe a carry on? But you can still hang a few stuffs in there. The walls in the living room area could use some paint touch ups. There were some cracks & smudges on the walls. The chairs could use some cleaning too. They looked real dirty. Maybe from the use of the fireplace over time. Which we did utilize & was a nice feature in the room!! The couch was a full sized pull out, but the mattress might need to get changed out for a new one. You can feel the springs. My son decided to use the pull out, but there weren't any beddings provided. I called front desk & house keeping brought them up within 3 mins... great job! He actually came up 2X but was quick both times. Our view from the balcony & front door were both nice. The grounds were beautiful & it might seem a little like a maze. I couldn't hear any noises from my neighbors on both sides or upstairs... if there were any? The hotel was on a busy street too, but I couldn't hear the traffic noise either. All rooms very well appointed giving an intimate feel, staff very friendly. Complimentary wine and cheese in late afternoon is a nice touch. Parking easy and good location to walk to nearby attractions in Monterey

This was a last-minute booking due to the health of my mother at Sunrise retirement home. Booking was very easy. The receptionist was friendly and helpful. And my room was beautiful. I'm a clean freak when it comes to hotels and this was a very clean Hotel. I travel a lot for my dog shows and this hotel was far better than any I have stayed in in the past year. With that said I don't know if this is a pet friendly hotel or not. The breakfast served in the morning was perfect! Bacon eggs and Waffles. That space was also very clean and well-organized. I can't think of anything negative about this hotel. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Monterey Bay Area.

The room is clean. There are refrigerator, microwave, safe box and coffee maker in room. We stayed in a 4 star hotel in Monterey Bay before and they don't have refrigerator and microwave oven inside the room and we paid $160/night. We had to check in late and check out early so we didn't want to spend money on those 4 or 5 star hotels. The Comfort Inn has things more than we expected including nice breakfast.

Hotel was clean and staff friendly. As for the room. I had a sweet and had family. Had two towels in the room. Even though there are three beds. Walls are paper thin. Could hear conversation of people in next too. Using normal voices. Bed was hard and sheets scratchy. The breakfast was a joke. Will not be coming back. That is for sure. Monterey will be a common destination. Just not staying here.

On the afternoon(July 15) we checked in, the front desk staff Julie was so helpful to us. We were a little bit surprised but it's hearwarming. She showed us the info regarding Monterey Bay and Camel and gave us a room facing the woods and it's so quiet and comfortable. Really enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay in Comfort Inn Monterey By the Sea if we visited that area again. The only thing needs to be improved thought is the breakfast. The dining room is too small and the waffle ingredient and regular coffee ran out....

We booked a queen suites which is comfortable for family of 4. Nicely located which gets you easily to various destinations without Monterey area. Breakfast was excellent. Especially worth mentioning is the friendly and helpful staffs making our stay a very pleasant one.

This was excellent and the beautiful flowers around the front of the room entries were better than any landscaping I have ever seen at any motel. Rooms were larger than average. Remodel quality was considerably better than normal. All colors, linens and drapes were fine quality and well chosen to make the setting first class. Even the hardware was top quality. The only area that could be improved was the water. Mineral content is very high in the Monterey area and that makes hard water. You must soften it. It was a little too soft ... just needs a small adjustment.

We were put in an ADA accessible room. The walk in shower allowed water to run across the floor to the other side of the bathroom. I assume the drain was partially clogged. We were 340 steps from the closest ice machine. Pretty bad for an ADA room. I’m so glad we were only there one night. As a Hilton’s Honor member this is the worst hotel room I’ve had in years.

Very clean and spacious. Plentiful towels and toiletries provided. Breakfast was very good and definitely didn't leave feeling hungry. Walls were maybe a bit on the thin side but wasn't a problem. Nice design. Free parking. Would stay again if ever in Monterey!

Spotlessly clean, sufficient breakfast and friendly staff. For what we paid, it was excellent value for money and we’d definitely stay again. My one and only complaint was that there were lights on outside the room and the curtains were not long enough to effectively keep the light out (at least in the room we stayed in). So if you are partial to a very dark room like I am, best take an eye mask.

The room with squeaking bad had everything that some other hotels don’t. Everything was working. I wish TV had some restrictions about some adult programs and actually there was too much ad shows;( nothing for the kiddos. Did not check wifi. Used my phone. Towels were kind of clean. The overall cleanliness is ok. A little bit noisy,but it is in the heart of Monterey somewhat. It is a pet friendly hotel, which adds up to the noise. The staff was friendly. They had breakfast included, cereal, coffee, baked goods, juice. Other hotels do not offer that. I stayed in 3 hotels with the same price, and just this had Breakfast included and lots of appliances;)

We had the unit that catered for disabled. Shower was huge and so well set up. Water flowed correctly - down the drain - not over the floor. staff we found helpful.

Very nice hotel with awesome view on the sea. Rooms were clean and very spacy. Beds were comfortable. The staff was very friendly. The buffet was a plentiful American breakfast buffet but sometimes a little crowded as it ended on 9 AM on weekdays. Nice architecture and furniture. Will stay there again!

Great place close to the beach, nice and quite área I just stay one night and I like it totally recommend it

My family and I stayed at this hotel during our road trip from SF to LA in April 2015. We rented two rooms and both of which were equally nice so I guess that speaks for the rest of the hotel. Located a few minutes away from Monterey's centre of attractions (approximately 10 minutes from Cannery Row), the hotel offers peaceful ambience with plenty of fresh air. Don't let the word 'Airport' throw you off, the area is actually very quiet. The rooms are surprisingly spacious, tidy, and conveniently equipped. Breakfast/ dining area may be a bit small but the quality of the breakfast itself was good and I did not mind bringing mine outside to enjoy in the warm morning sun. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Parking is plentiful and is easily accessible from all buildings. My family and I are most happy with our stay there and will gladly stop by again the next time we visit Monterey. Highly recommended over crowded and pricey downtown accommodations.

It was a good experience staying here...we stayed last couple of weeks and still more weeks to come until we're done our work in this city...just give it a try and you will not be disappointed

Located in beautiful Pacific Grove, easy walk to Monterey cannary road. A 5 minute walk from the beach. Down the street from 17 mile drive. Friendly hosts, get a complementary glass of wine and sit by the fire pit in the evening. Have something light for breakfast enjoy your coffee by the firepit in the morning. It's a nice place overall. Some visible wear and tear on the rooms windows. Don't be surprised by the resort fee it's just a few bucks and totally worth it. We enjoyed our stay and can't wait to go back this summer! Enjoy.

Great for one night - middle of road 1, closed to the ocean, and 17 mail drive. VERY nice and clean room and balcony. nice breakfast, great gym. second floor without elevator.

We stayed here for 2 nights while we explored the area. A comfortable stay, decent breakfast spread, walking distance to the mall with a Whole Foods, which was convenient. A short drive to the Monterey Fisherman’s Wharf.

The room was exceptionally clean and 12 minutes walk to the Del Monte shopping centre, 15 minutes walk to Monterey Transit Plaza and the airport buses 93 and 7 stop directly in front. The price was very low, so my stay was great value. This is a simple, no frills motel which was just fine for me.

Paid 370hkd a day with breakfast. Can't ask for more. Don't know why the bad reviews previously, maybe the building has been refurbished.

We stayed here for 1 night after a whale watching tour and our stay was GREAT. Mary at the reception was SUPER nice, helpful and informative. The room was spacious, comfy bed, clean and big bathroom. The breakfast was also great, offering a lot of variety and good food. The location was also good, pretty close to everything in Monterey. Highly recommend this hotel for both long and short stays in Monterey.

We were doing a road trip from SF to LA, Monterey bay was our 1st stop along pacific coastal highway, and understand that there is a submarine Monterey Canyon just outside in the sea! Location of the hotel was excellent, by the sea, next to the aquarium, in the heart of cannery row, it is a luxurious hotel in Monterey. The building looks like an old sardine factory, our room balcony has partial view to the sea, spacious room and toilet, comfortable stay. Harry the otter, mascot of Monterey was placed on the bed to welcome us. Good gym facilities with a small outdoor pool. Car has to be valet park @ usd27 -overnight parking (or self park by the road side, which we are not too sure about the parking meter charges). Given such premium hotel rate, I would highly think that parking charges should be waived for hotel guests. A lot of nice restaurants around the hotel, suitable for families. It took us 30 mins on foot to walk to Fisherman's village.. 20 mins to Lover's point, and harbour seals can be spotted along the path. It is indeed a marine sanctuary. It is also a short drive to go to 17 miles scenic drive and onwards to pebble beach and to LA.
