Muang Ngoy is a small village on the banks of the River Ou, a tributary of the Mekong. It consists of a number of guest houses, restaurants and shops strung along two dirt roads.
It is very rustic with some attractive traditional wooden houses. Its main attraction is as a stage on the river journey north from Luang Prabang and on towards the Vietnamese border. The riverside scenery is beautiful and the boat journey spectacular. There are a few activities available including visiting a couple of local villages where handcrafts are practised. It is well worth the journey.
