Best hotels & accommodations in Newport News (VA)

I attend an annual event in the Newport News area, and if I am not staying with friends, stay here. It is clean, the beds are comfy, the staff is very nice, decent amenities, and decent breakfast. High marks all around, especially to Virginia of the housekeeping staff. Co-owned by the same folks as the Comfort Inn next door. Terrific value.

1)TV didn't work 2)Paint old 3)Bathtub dirty 4) A piece if the front door came off and I just pushed it aside. I think that it was to keep things from crawling from under the door? I good a really good price, but you often get what you paid for. Next time, maybe a little higher end? The entire building needed updates. Staff was excellent!!

I would have loved to recommend Comfort Inn but will not - especially to anyone with a pet. We have stayed here several times over the past few years, with our cats. Imagine my surprise when I go to check in and am told that you no longer accept pets and fine customers $250 if they try to bring them in. I had gone on more than one computer site where you are listed a...

Imagine my surprise when I go to check in and am told that you no longer accept pets and fine customers $250 if they try to bring them in. I had gone on more than one computer site where you are listed as pet friendly. You are going backwards when many other motel chains are adding this service. So, no more Comfort Inn for us ---- even when we're not traveling with the cats. Too bad!

I feel the photos and information about this inn is misleading. To call it a Suite is insulting. My list of complaints: 1. The room smelled smoky - when I brought this up with the young man at the front desk he stated it was "Guest Choice" implying guests were allowed to smoke in the room if they wanted. Their website reservation system is extremely misleading. 2....

My water went out one of the nights I was there. Thankfully I was able to shower at Planet Fitness where I am a member. 4. I reserved the hotel under that impression there was a fitness center - but it was "being fixed" ie they were too lazy to fix the busted air conditioner that fell off the wall and move out a box spring. Basically the gym was being used as storage. 5. Elevator smelled of weed. 6. When I left one weekday, there were 4 cop cars there to take care of an issue. Obviously there are some questionable individuals.

Although we did not get the storm in our area, because this was prepaid we took advantage of a staycation. The room was clean and efficient. The sofa cushions need to be replaced.. The staff a bit disjointed. Check in was ok, but breakfast was late and staff disgruntled. The lounge area with tables and chairs have been taped off because of previous Carpet Cleaning and although 24 hours have gone by they did not open up this area for breakfast seating and so everyone took their breakfast to their rooms. Plus housekeeping staff in the hall were in conversation (with one another) using foul language within earshot of guest (they could see). It would have been nice if the Pool opened earlier as later in the morning it becomes dominated by children. Every type of food desired is within a short drive. Yes, I would book here again but hopefully won't need to unless another storm heads our way.

The entrance way and the hallway floors looked as if they hadn't been swept or vacuumed in many weeks. The description online said the kitchen units were fully stocked, yet our room had no cookware. I was told I could come get it or the front desk clerk would deliver it to me when she got a chance. It was understaffed, and though the room had a clean smell upon entra...

I was told I could come get it or the front desk clerk would deliver it to me when she got a chance. It was understaffed, and though the room had a clean smell upon entrance, it soon wore off and smelled old. There was no ice on the premises, and no ice makers in the freezers of the refrigerator. I cancelled my reservations for the rest of the week after the 3rd night. I would never recommend this location!
