"Not only the hotel was centrally located but also very easy access to all the sightseeing spots. Tram or bus station for the castle is right in front of the hotel and just 5 minutes walk to JR train Okayama central station to visit a famous historical Kurashiki city(only a few stations away). The big corner room was also very clean and comfy with good view as we really enjoyed our stay. I recommend this hotel if you want top range hotel in Okayama. "

Hotel Areaone Okayama

"It was the second time I stayed in Areaone hotel but this one in Okayama was slightly dusty and run down, for that price with well facilities in place and opposite to Mega Aeon mall and Donki, what to complaint nonetheless! It was a little far away from the train station but we are boys so we are ok. We travelled from Yonago, so we had lots of clothes to wash. There was a laundry room and next door to it were vending machines selling noodles and drinks as well as microwaves, with Aeon supermarket next door that was how we got creative when washing our clothes, especially the first day with heavy snow on the way and long delay, we were tired anyway. The bathtub was a little small as well. I like the most is the free coffee mix and green tea bags, of course, microwave! We had a pleasant stay. If you are one of those who needs to have a perfect hotel that treated you like a king, then this one is not for you. But if you are self-serving person like we are, then this one is quite ok! "

"I can't think of anything that I would blame. The location is inside a shopping mall and just around 5 mins walk to the Okayama station which is excellent. Furthermore, when you go down, there is the shopping street right next to the hotel! Super convenience. As you may know hotel's room in Japan tends to be small, but the room here is spacious! I can open my 24 inch luggage without blocking the corridor! OMG How good it is!! Besides, the room is clean and includes all I need. And the staff can speak English very well and they are super polite and kind. Last but not least, the hotel provides osen (hot spring)!!!! After a long walking day, going to osen can be really relaxing. With such a price in Japan with osen provided, close to station and located in a shopping mall, I don't know where to find another hotel like this! Definitely recommend! "

"This hotel is located just right across the Okayama JR Station, and the tram station is just right outside the hotel door. AEON Mall, Takashimaya and Don Quijote are all within 5-8 minutes of walking distance. Room was considered quite spacious given this is Japan. We were able to fit 2 large suitcases, opened, on the floor with more than enough walking space. The room even had an air humidifier as it could get quite dry in the room due to heater. Breakfast was alright, they didn't have very many selections but we got a taste of local Okayama goods. Staff were really friendly. I wanted to make a reservation at a local restaurant but it was unfortunately full. The staff helped me to call at least 5 other ones, but no luck.. finally, the staff was able to help us make reservation at a restaurant he recommended. I forgot to get his name but I was so impressed with his patience and helpfulness. Will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying at Okayama."

More about Okayama

Okayama is an excellent destination for a day trip if traveling the San’yo Shinkansen or a cultural retreat. This major transport hub is popular for its white peaches, black castle, and famous garden. A Japanese fairytale about Momotaro, or Peach Boy, is said to have taken place here, and his cultural impact can be seen in almost everything from statues to manhole covers. Okayama Airport services the city with flights from Japan and a couple other Asian cities, while Okayama Station serves as a major stop on the San’yo Shinkansen line.

When visiting Okayama for either a day trip or a few days, the statues of Momotaro are undoubtedly going to get your attention. Statues of a dog, monkey, and pheasant will also be seen, representing the Peach Boy’s travel companions that joined him as he went to fight the demons. If not already captivated by the city, knowing the story behind these characters can add some magic and relevance to a visit here. Catching a photo-op with Momotaro or his companions is the way to go when heading to the Culture Zone, an area with the city’s main sites on the eastern side of the central business district. The city’s most well-known site and one of Japan’s top three best landscaped gardens – Korakuen Garden – is found here. Across from it is Okayama Castle, a striking piece of architecture noted for its black color. These historical and cultural sites provide excellent sightseeing destinations as well as excellent insight into the area’s history.
