Traveling to Brazil? Find Rio De Janeiro hotels

It is a little hard to locate the hostel; it takes time and effort to reach it as it is on a slope. The staff are helpful and informative; some speak Engish. The dorms are not too big with 9 bunk beds. The room has big lockers to store lugguage. There are small lockers in the lounge next to the reception. You need to have your own locks for big lockers and ask for a key for the small one. Breakfast is complimentary and comprises a vareity of fruits and foods. Given the high cost of living in Rio, this is certainly a PLUS.

We had a warm welcome in Rio de Janeiro. The staff was really nice and gave us some helpful advice and recommendation of Rio.

The location was prime (near the Copacabana beach) and amenities such as a drug store and a supermarket were located nearby. The staff were English-speaking and really friendly, but the room was rather cramped (even for a hostel) and lacked ventilation. Not for long term stays.

The location is so nice,200m from the beach and metro station and it is safety area in Ipanema area. Staff are really nice and kind and they can arrange the tours. There is a bar inside we can drink and eat pizza. It is a nice hostel. If I come back to Rio de Janeiro,I will stay here again. AKIRA OHKAWARA

Hostel offered airport transfer so no problems with finding the hotel's location. It is located in a private & guarded neighborhood, very convenient going around Rio as it is near a train/bus stations. Staff was very helpful. Room was clean and breakfast was sufficient. Only problem was the noise as we were near the kitchen area. Overall, we had a great stay at Injoy. I would choose to stay here again if ever I come back to Rio.

The friendly welcome at the hostel is great! No matter when you arrive, you can lock the luggage in a safe room until you can check in the room. Although the rooms were quite small - but that's normal in Rio for that price - the stay there was very very nice! The whole hostel was very clean (also very very clean toilet), and everybody (included cleaning staff) tried everything to make the stay as wonderful as possible! I felt like being in a big family! The tours they are offering in the hostel are very nice and you won't get them cheaper anywhere else. The hostel is a great place to meet people from all over the world. That part of Ipanema was the best choice! Great location!

Pros: I stayed in a 14-bed dorm room but I was alone the whole time I stayed. Breakfast is one of the best/generous offered in the area. I had a really bad asthma attack my 2nd night at the hostel and Cacaia took care of me like a mom - bringing hot chai latte, water, breakfast and even lunch in bed along with extra pillows and blankets... even her own scarf. She and her husband took turns checking in on me till midnight for 2 days. I would not have recovered so fast if not for their kindness. You can't get that kind of "service"/care from big hotels or party hostels in town. Cons:The hostel is about 10-15 mins walk to Lapa which isn't bad but being in Sta. Teresa, it means a steep uphill climb.

Loved, loved, loved every bit of my stay at Books Hostel. The place has a great vibe and throws some kick ass parties. Great place to meet people and hang out. I ended up staying for a total of 5 days and had a blast.

Mango Tree was a good place to stay. The staff was very helpful with tips for us, directions, recommendations for restaurants, and assistance with transportation, and airline boarding passes. Our room was cleaned every day and the towels were really good. The location is excellent, with the beach two blocks away and the subway 3 or 4 blocks away. Wi-Fi was very problematic- you had to go to special parts of the hostel to access it, which was very inconvenient. Also, smoking appears to be allowed in common areas. When sitting in the breakfast area to access the internet, it smelled of stale cigarettes- not at all appealing. But all in all, a good value for the money.

I've stayed in 5 hostels in Rio. This one had the worst value for the same money. It feels like the owners try really hard to earn as much as possible while providing a bare minimum. The room had a tiny window and felt like a prison cell with poor air ventilation. The bathroom had no soap. You can't even wash both of your hands at the same time, because you have to keep on pressing the button to keep the water flowing. Can you use kitchen? There is no kitchen for guests. Hot drinking water? Use microwave. Access to filtered water? Barely. Breakfast? Of course not. I saw other people having it, and it looked pathetic anyways. Overall, the place simply has no vibe and no soul. Wanna feel like a chicken going through a factory? Go to Ace Suites! Better yet just go to any other hostel around.

After a long trip from Peru, I stopped by RDJ, Brazil to relax. There’s some complication at first but Carol, Andres and Addison is a professional staff and making sure it’s all settled and making sure I am comfortable in the stay. Great locations and great crowd to be around with. Definitely great stay and worth every penny and time staying here. Highly recommended.

This was my very first hostel stay and I'm glad I stayed with discovery. The friendly staff made my stay really comfortable and the fellow hostelers were also very amiable. Nevertheless, I must add that staying at discovery really enriched my Rio experience (travelling literally half way across the globe).

The location is great, in fact you can have a look at Copacabana beach just when you step out of hotel entrance. The staff is very friendly and the hotel furniture is new, which is a rare find in the hotels nearby. The breakfast options are good too. Its a small hotel, but has a lot to offer.

The location was good. But the AC in the room was not properly working. The compressor seldom works. The morning breakfast was also not good. Overall this hotel is not value for money. The only best thing about this hotel is the location.

I had not stayed in Downtown Rio before so this was a first. This hotel is perfect if you are not a beach bum and prefer to visit historical places of interest and pubs and restaurants. It is right in the centre of Rio and you tend to meet some of the more normal Cariocas, i.e those who dont party 24/7. Thiongs were a good bit cheaper here than in Zona Sul so that was a bonus I wasnt expecting.

It is my first time to try staying in a backpacker's place where you share room with others. The place is decent and nice. People are friendly and welcoming. Location is nice. it is near supermarkets, restaurants and beach. Love the area!

There is one very important thing I did not like. I don't live in Brazil although I am from Brazil. I decided to stay at this hotel and during the day when friends or family came they could not come up with me to my room. Hotel staff said it was for safety reasons. But even my mom and dad could not come up even for a just quick coffee. I have stayed in other hotels in Rio and visitors were allowed. I tried speaking to the manager showing the passport to prove it was mom and dad, but still, they always had to stay at the reception. VERY BAD!!!

The room was renovated. Everything seem new and clean in room 213. You can even smell the in the morning the cleaner was using bleach, which is a plus. Its in a safe area and on catete st which is in a great location, and right next to the subway.

The reception guy is unapologetic, we booked and paid for Bohemian tour a night before the tour but he sent us to Buzios beach. The whole day of that tour is ruined for we spent much of traveling 180km from and to Rio. Upon reaching the hotel, the reception guy just say sorry without sincerity.

I regret that I didn't book my whole 3 week stay here-- never mind though, I will definitely stay here the whole time for my next visit 😍 This is like a home (away from home). Gil and Ana are one of a kind host. Not just them, but also Sao and Tom (they are adorable) I had the freedom to do everything like cooking and washing clothes. The whole place is very clean and smells good. The hostel have a very homey feeling, like its where you really live.The WiFi worked good anywhere in the hostel too. The restrooms are quite big and there's a lot of restrooms so you wont need to line up to anybody 😊 You got your privacy here, and if you love your sleep like I do, this is the place to be. It is close to everything. The beach is just a few minutes away, Bradesco ATM is just almost beside it and Zona Sul is almost in front of it! There is a lot of resto and bars in the area too 😊

Made the booking at the last minute. Initial inspection illustrates that this property is not in the best location, due to it being on a back street and the surrounding poverty. Upon closer review though, it is very close to two important Rio landmarks, The Arcos da Lapa and the Escadaria Selaron. Hotel staff went above and beyond to be helpful. I stayed on the 3rd floor and there is no elevator so the 48 steps to the top was a bit tedious, but we all need good exercise. Room was basic, secure and neat. Decent Wi-fi connection. Neighborhood offered several bars. About a three block walk to Gloria metro station. Back and forth as I pleased all hours and never felt threatened.

I had a 12 hours connection in Rio, so I decided to go there for a shower and a few hours of sleep, and it was great because of the location, it's only 10 min away from Galeão airport by taxi and the staff is really helpful!

I booked 4 nights, only in the first one we got hot water. So I had to take cold showers. The lady at the front desk just told us she was sorry but we could get hot water. Linens were all thirty, pillows were same way, only the large bed (was a shared room, but I paid for the entire beds) were clean, I hope. Matress are really old, they made sound every time you move, I even have a video of that. All the stuff at the restroom are rusted an old, I found hair on the shower, I took video as well. You get no soap, no shampoo, and towels I wasn't sure if they were clean. 4 days and the hot water never came up, she just said "sorry for that" once. The first night we found a great arguing they wanted their money back, all this were in portuges, I'm Mexican so I could get some of what they said. She ( the lady at the front desk) just tell at the guy that " money paid money stays". PLEASE DONT USE THIS HOTEL, DONT MAKE MY MISTAKE, PAY A LITTLE MORE FOR BETTER. DONT TRUAT THE PICTURES, THE HITEL IS OLD AND DIRTY. Jorge Mexico

The Hotel interior is new, beautiful, and clean. Room were new, not so clean, toilet is new & good Restaurant food is good, delicious Bad: The Hotel doesn't have any signboard or title, we have very hard time to locate the hotel, even inside the hotel doesn't have a signboard or title

Rooms are 3 stars but stayed there during carnaval, price was 4 stars.location is very good.staff helpfull and able to communicate in English.

Stayed in triple room. Clean sheets, comfortable beds. Staff does not speak english but no problem with google translate. They are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is delicious (located at level 1). Accommodation feels secure and has 24hr reception. Within 10 mins walking distance to supermarket. Taxi from Rodoviaria bus terminal costs 36BRL.
