Salvador hotels & places to stay

Its in a great area with easy access to the BARS AND CLUBBING AREA. The Hostel and its staff are exceptional. It provides everything that you need in accommodation. We stayed in a suite room that was immaculately clean, bedding and towels changed every other day. The sea view from the balcony (room 33) was fantastic. Breakfast was totally adequate, continental and scrambled eggs (although on occasions need refreshing sooner), BUT THE CAKES, WOW, SENSATIONAL!!! Negatives. More use could have been made of the mezzanine floor area, its just crying out to be made into a lounge area and a Safety Box for piece of mind for Passports etc. It can get Noisy at weekends, but you are in the busy RV bar area with all its vibrant nightlife to hand and it is a safe area to be in. This was a fabulous place to stay Olivier and his staff definitely look after you, and personally we can't thank them enough for the warmth, friendship and assistance they offered us, THANK YOU ALL

On the internet i was charged $33.15 but when I reached there it turned out to be $70.00 per night. For that price I could have stayed at a 5star hotel.

The location to the beaches is fine (walking distance) and alos for business reason good and fats access to CIA. Parking garage and WIFI included in the price. The staff is very freindly and will help, if needed something. Internet connection is fast via WIFI and working well. The restaurant is fine with good quality for reasonable prices. The menue is a little bit small and the brackfast is below the average in brasil. Rooms are quite small, and a little wearn ut, but still acceptable for a 3 start hotel. Small pool and bar available in the 3 rd floor. The Pool is a little small, but very clean. All in all, a good possibility to stay with a rasonable price.

This hotel is a real family hotel with the beach at the opposite of the street. Close to the Hotel you will find various places to eat or just to take a drink. Please watch your belongings!! I was sitting on a terrace one day and took out my sneakers under the table (it was hot). While talking a boy took one of my sneakers away and when I found out that I had only one shoe left, people offerd me help to buy my shoe back. I had to laugh about it and had to pay €10,-. Brazil is a beautifull but with surprises!!

The light in the room was broken. Then they fixed it after asking twice. At first there was no hot water. After complain they fixed it. They didn't give us any blanket. Then we went to the reception and took it by ourselves. In my opinion they didn't prepare the room for guest before our arrival.

The hotel is located beside the escalator. It is a old building. The hotel has a good view to the ocean. It also close to lots sightseeing. The room is clean and quiet. The internet is slow and they never fix........I talked to the staffs 3 times in different days. They just kept saying will fix tomorrow. Until the day i left, the internet still not working. The breakfast is not good. Lots flies are over the food. Overall the hotel is in standard price with normal service. If you just looking for a nice and safe location. Here is the place you can stay.

hotel bahia de sol is highly recommended for those wanting a quiet stay in salvador but also near the prominent beaches. it is located in vitoria, a posh district in salvador, 10-15 minutes walk to porto de barra and farol de barra beaches which are one of many attractions in salvador. vitoria also hosts many museums and galeries, which is perfect for those who love to explore the art and culture of bahia.

The hotel is ideal if you have an event at the Conference Center. It is also opposite a shopping center. However it is far from the beach. Staff does not have second language skills and restaurant menu is quite simple

Location is excellent,very close to the Pelhourino. You do have to negotiate a local road to reach there that is not the most pleasant, but we had no difficulties even after dark and there were always tourist police at the Pelourinho end - just follow advice and don't carry obvious jewelry etc. Room a little small but functional with reliable hot water and supercharged air conditioning. Pool fantastic - just what was needed after several hours sightseeing, and well located to see and hear the attractions of the city. Breakfast is served near the pool with good selection and some home baked items that we appreciated. Some additional tables would have helped and they did occasionally run out of plates, cutlery juices and food items. Staff speak reasonable English mostly and the Manager has plenty of useful tourist information. Two tips for Salvador. The Bale Folclorica de Bahia is an astonishing 'must see' performance - in the theatre at the top of the road leading to the Pelourinho. We also recommend the Dona Chika Restaurant in town.

Accommodation had a colonial feel to it and was very clean. Our host was very welcoming and although she did not speak English we could manage in our basic French which is much better than our Portuguese! We had a room with an en-suite and a fridge, it was very pleasant although the bed was a bit too hard for our comfort. Breakfast was excellent fresh bread, eggs, fruit, cake and tea/coffee. Internet/computer and wi-fi usage were free. There was a helpful set of information in the room (in English) suggesting places to go in Salvador and things to do. House is located about 10-15min walk away from the main historic area and is easy to find. As in many places in Brazil after 10/11pm its best to get a taxi home but during the day walking around was fine. Our host was also very helpful before we arrived as we had some questions about our transport in Salavador and she was able to arrange airport transfers for us.

This was a really good hotel for business travel. It's located in easy walking distance between the beach and conference centre. The hotel itself was comfortable, clean and offered free wifi. The staff were friendly and clearly helpful, but their ability to help relied on our mutual effort in communication, as they only spoke Portuguese. We got by, however. It is quite a distance from the old town; I'd suggest organising a taxi through the hotel and agree the price beforehand (confirm this with the taxi driver). We felt we'd been ripped off on the way into town and our suspicions were confirmed on the return trip.

We scored down because of the whole breakfast experience ... Hospitality you expect a smile in the morning ? If not a good morning / greeting in any language ! ... Everything seemed too much trouble for the lady at breakfast ? No bowls or milk for cereals .... An effort to refill coffee pot ... Maybe a TV or music for some background in a room with now Windows and echoes of every noise !! A little disappointed with no window view in room ! As said good Good and good but over priced ?

Nice location by the sea and sea views from many rooms, facilities quite basic but adequate, and not far from the neighborhood of Rio Vermelho, which has many good bars and restaurants. Particularly enjoyed sitting on the rooftop for breakfast

Amazing view of the ocean, with fantastic sea breezes. Very helpful staff. A short walk (on hot sand!) to the beach. Some reasonable simple restaurants and grocery store nearby. A great place to stay.

The room was looked a bit different than the photo, but was comfortable enough for sleeping. The staff was nice and helpful. The breakfast had a good variety of food, but was half empty both days I arrived, not to mention all the tables were filled with dirty dishes. I think they just need more help during the busier times to keep up with demand.

After checking in I notified reception that my room safe wasn´t working. After SIX reminders and having waited EIGHT hours they finally fixed the Problem. On the second day the A.C. broke down. It wasn´t repaiared, nor was I offered another room. Staff at reception totally ignorant and fully incompetent. Won´t be staying there again, ever.

Very interesting hotel for families and people who would like some calm. Also interested if you would like to profit from the beach.

We needed to find a hotel for one night near the airport and were very pleasantly surprised by the staff, the amazing buffet and the lovely beach, at such an affordable price. Next time we'll stay Longer.

This is the best hotel which I have stayed in Brasil. Close to sea and everything in the hotel are clean and new. The pool is also nice to refreshment. Anyway the inside the room can be seen from the bus running outside...

Nice and kind hotel service...... and good atmosphere! I can use "Internet Cafe(1F)" from 10:30p.m. to 9:00a.m. without fee and it is very useful to work. Especially I satisfied the price using mini bar because it is the cheapest that I have stayed other hotels(Sonesta, Golden Tulip, Vila Bahia, Calhua) in brazil.

The hotel is clean and well maintained but has a few small issues that need fixing - shower was luke warm and the wifi didn't work. Great breakfast and very central location.

The first word that comes to mind when I think of my stay at The Vila Gale Salvador Hotel is dismal! We spent 11 nights at this hotel some during carnival and the rest after. Our room had view of a construction site, even after carnival when there were more rooms available we asked to change rooms and we were told only if we paid extra! The gym was closed for the first 6 days of our stay and when it opened none of the equipment worked! I nearly fell off the treadmill 2 due to its lack of service. The 4 other "machines" in the "gym" were full of rust and didn't work, there was no music and no water!! Furthermore, wifi in the room was an additional charge!! Much preferred Othon hotel!
