this place would be perfect except that it is in an 'iffy' part of town. the staff, and signs there, warn guests, but a hosteler was robbed , right in front of the place while i was there. so one needs to really watch out once out and about in the neighborhood. I am sorry to have to say this, but there are other women/older people like me who might consider a different location. Fortunately, the hostel roja has a sister site, the princess insolente, which might be in a better location? i am typing this from the Pucon princess insolente, and it is great.

Great place to chill at the end of the trip. After sifting through numerous hostels in Santiago, Landay was a clear winner for me, as it ticked all the boxes - at least on paper. I've seen much worse properties charging a lot more. The reality wasn't much different. Great value for money.

Great location, excellent facilities, safe and secure luggage options, helpful staff. A perfect choice for any visit to Santiago.

Many lovely shops hidden in the neighborhood to discover and also quiet enough to rest. Shower is hot, but a little be cold in the room at night. Staffs are very friendly to help.

Merced 88 is a good solid choice for a hostel, albeit one that is a little too large to have much personality. There is a large locker and outlet for each person in the dorm, which was sufficiently spacious. Located 3-5 minutes away from the Baquedano metro station, getting around Santiago was convenient, although the nearest cheap grocery store was a 15 minute walk. The breakfast was all you can eat eggs, bread and cereal, with fruit and tea available all day. Long-term luggage storage was free in a reasonably secure locked room.

This was our first stop in South America & this hostel was the best introduction. Upon checking in greeted by Angel - who was just amazing, to the location - perfect walking distance to the nightlife area but also easy to get to the museums and sights in the day. Breakfast was delicious - eggs available, cereals , breads & so much fruit. Perfect to start the day. We had a private room shared bathroom & was so easy. Would recommend or stay here again if we ever went back to Santiago!

I don't know why but for some reason the lady receptionist was so unprofessional, unfriendly and lazy! We arrived the hotel at 15:33hrs from New Zealand with a 14 hours flight! Me and my husband's first time in South America! I greeted her in Spanish language, I gave my passport and she said she just need to finish something if I can give her 5 minutes. Fair enough we are not staying in a 5 star hotel!!! Do your stuff first!! Btw, no else is checking in besides us. So We waited even if we are dead tired. After few minutes couple came in for check in and to my surprise another colleague of her was there to check them in. I checked the time thinking she might call us any minute now, but she didn't and so I came forward with a serious look on my face like don't mess with me coz I'm very tired and I'm not in the mood look, placing my passport on the desk and the gentleman assisted me right away while still checking in the other couple. She was just sitting there next to him, doesn't even care or bother to apologise!!! Or look at me, I can't blame her she should be ashamed of herself. Check in was extremely slow.... and what can I expect there is no professionalism or hospitality at all. Not a good impression at all for a guest/tourist coming for the first time in Chile nor South America! The toilet is filthy, the flush in the other toilet wasn't working at all! The toilet wasn't flushed for days! Imagine how disgusting! Room is small. Very noisy at night!! No curfew, rules or what so ever! Our room is located right in front the terrace so you can hear people talking till morning. One night we woke up from our sleep because someone is having sex in the hallways just outside our room!! We had 4 sleepless nights!! So it's up to you to decide if it's worth staying here!

So kind family running a small and lovely hostel. close to the airport (less than 10mins by car from the airport). free fruits available anytime. pick up& drop service with a reasonable price!

I love this place, and I made it my central base for all travels in Chile. The rooms are the best value you can get for what you pay, fluffy white towels like in a 5 star hotel, tv and free wifi in room, comfy matresses. The overall atmosphere of this styleful hostal is like in a family. They make you feel at home. Staff is most helpful and friendly. Last not least a complete breakfast tops it all. 10 minutes walk to Cerro Blanco metro station. Convenient location for food and sightseeing

The hotel was not clean. It was an old and dirty hotel but it was cheap for Santiago. The lady that runs the hotel was really nice and helpful. The location was close to public transport.

Everithing is fine. Please, remove those ugly angled shelves in the room! We always hit against them.

While I only stayed for one night, I find this hostel very homey, very welcoming. Staff are fabulous and replied to my enquiries immediately. (Erick Sydney)

We arrived from Valparaiso on a bus. We had an Email from the agency, about a kilometer away, to arrange key pick up and payment. The apartment we rented was on the 19th floor of a tower block. It was OK. The Metro station was just 60 metres away. The apartment was clean and well equipped apart from the two ring hob. There had obviously been an electrical problem somewhere because the hod knob for ring 2 was missing. When I turned the cooker on by hand it blew the Electric system. We had to go downstairs to the Janitor who quickly arranged for an Electrician to come. He could not fix the fault inside the hob but reset the Electric circuit. It was 22-00 by now. We were pleased to get the power back. The 2nd ring had not been mended when we left on Dec 11th.

Hotel Santa Lucia is conveniently located just a few blocks from the Santa Lucia Metro stop, and just a blocks from the Plaza de Armas and other sights. It is an older hotel in need of updating, but it is perfect for budget travelers. The staff helped so much with a variety of needs. Breakfast included juice, coffee, tea, several kinds of bread, butter, jam, and scrambled eggs. If you are a budget traveler and need an inexpensive place to stay, this is it!

The Panamericano Hotel is a treasure in the midst of a busy downtown area, close to the government and business zones of Santiago. It's tucked away in the center of the block, and is quiet, and convenient--and with an excellent price. We two mature women stayed there and were delighted with the clean room, comfortable beds, and the wonderful fresh breakfast with fruit, cereal, juices, eggs, meats, cheeses, and breads...in addition to excellent coffee. Also, wifi is available at no cost, which is so good for business travelers.

Fantastic location, all in the center and walking distance. Check-in in the hotel hallway, no front desk.

The proprietors are good people to deal with. No problems. Easy for transport, cheap for the location, and reasonably well appointed.

the place was difficult to find. a 10 minute walk from the metro station. but if you plan to travel to the nearby cities during your stay, i recommend staying near the bus terminals instead. the staff only spoke russian and spanish. he was not very helpful and got frustrated when he did not understand my questions. would never stay here again.

The worst place I’ve ever stayed at part time being the faulty towers the only good thing I can say about the place was the staff are okay we had to change rooms because the toilet didn’t work the TV didn’t work there was bear electrical wires exposed breakfast you couldn’t eat and a cup of coffee with an instant one with no milk

A cosy and friendly place in great location. Can walk to most attractions and plenty of eating places in the neighbourhood. Hearty breakfast served by Karla. Host Ignacio was welcoming and helpful.

Overnight stay in Santiago, NH was listed as a 5 star hotel but was more on a 3-4 star level. Room was comfortable, location reasonably central, breakfast was good. Overall an ok stay, if you are not expecting the polish of a 5 star establishment.

Hotel is in superb location for sightseeing in the old centre and just 2 blocks away from metro. There are loads of shopping streets and an old market place close by, but to larger malls you need a metro. Hotel was clean, and the rooms were ok, especially if you consider the price level. Definitely no luxus, but works more than well if you need a place to sleep. Personnel went the extra mile helping me to get around in the city, not all spoke fluent English. Definitely worth the money spent =)

We would recommend this Apart Hotel; we got 2 bed rooms, 2 bath rooms, a common living room with TV and a kitchen! Great for several persons. Check-In is only at 3pm; but all the other services/features were good. Staff is friendly and helpful.

great hotel in good location of downtown santiago. working distance to all sights and short taxi to nightlife. the rooms are large and well equipped. its a tall tower so if you get a high level for your room you can see the mountains clearly and cityscapes.

Andres and his team run a welcoming and comfortable boutique hotel in the Providencia. Located near the Manuel Montt metro station or easy walking distance from the historical centre of Santiago , the bohemian restaurant precinct of Bellavista or San Cristobal hill to get the best views of the city with the back drop of the Andes. The room was quiet, well fitted with an ensuite plus the bed was very comfortable. We were traveling with a few articles of luggage hence had to strategically had to place it in the room to avoid tripping over it but it was manageable. The breakfast didn't have a vast selection but more than adequate. It was well prepared and fresh with an assortment of cereals, yoghurts, breads and fruit. The staff kept close vigilance to ensure the coffee was always warm and the servery was kept replenished. The staff were very pleasant and friendly, they are great ambassadors for Santiago willing to share tips on how best explore the city and give general information.

older hotel, decent seize rooms, will all the comfort of a 3 and a half star hotel, breakfast is buffet, but strictly continental with hot scambled eggs and toast. The hotel is located on Benardo O Higgins Blvd the main road and can be a bit noisy, centrally located to Down Town and the key business and pedestrian district

This appartment was amazing. Literally right in the centre of town. You can easily walk to any of the neighbouring suburbs. Close to subway and large park. Had cleaners that come to tidy up everyday. Great view on the 18th floor and right next to a supermarket so you can make your own food in the kitchen. Only problem is the concierge speaks no english so spanish skills are helpful. would definently stay here again and reccommend to anyone travelling to santiago.
