Stodgy overstuffed old Briston”
This is not going to be your cheapest alternative in Oslo, but the breakfast is fine, the old fashioned decor and fixtures (not in the rooms, of course) are charming, the expensive-even-for-Oslo restaurant downstairs is totally respectable, and the locals like to be invited here if you know what I mean. It's 100% old snobby Oslo, the hotel of the publishing establishment for example, and a lot less snotty about its snob appeal than Grand or Continental, and out of the way of the Karl Johan riffraff.
It was ok
The location is superb. Close to all major attractions within walkable distances. Has an old European charm but it is clean and tidy. The staff is excellent. If you want to take taxi check with front desk. They have special tied up with taxi company
Nice Room-Fantastic Location”
Over all the room was very enjoyable. We were within walking distance to the Opera House, ferry terminal, and several great restaurants. We would stay here again.
The Hotel Bristol was great. They had a fantastic buffet breakfast, with a huge selection. The rooms were warm & stylish. It is in a great location and within an easy walk to all major sights. The National Gallery is only 3 mins away and walk to the Palace only 10 mins. The lobby bar is very grand & luxuruous and worth a visit. Reception staff were very efficient and helpful. Would recommend.
Excellent stay at Bristol Hotel”
Well appointed, older-style hotel ”
Had a very pleasant stay at the Hotel Bristol. It is a classically decorated 19th century style Hotel that looks after its guests well. All facilities worked well and the staff we helpful and friendly. The rooms were of a good size and were well set up. An enjoyable place to stay in a good location in Oslo.
Classical hotel in the heart of Oslo”
We enjoyed our stay in the Bristol very much. The staff were friendly and helpful. The public areas are all decorated in classical 19th century style with creates a great ambience. The room was fine. The hotel is within easy walking distance of most things you would want to see. A happy stay in a well appointed and elegant hotel.
Great location and amenities!”
Great hotel in an excellent location. Excellent staff who were incredibly helpful and friendly!
Old style luxury”
We spent 3 nights in a standard double room. Bed was comfortable, no view from the room but it didn't matter for our stay. Good clean bathroom with bath and shower, lovely hot water with plenty of shower gel and shampoo. Room with TV and mini bar which we didn't use. Would have preferred tea making facilities in the room, but maybe because we are english! Staff pleasant and helpful. Waiter in the dining room remembered which tea we liked. Food was good, breakfast particularly good and varied choice. Excellent quality. Would definitely stay again when visiting Oslo.
When I walked into the Bristol, I was amazed at the decor. It is almost old English Manor decor with plenty of wood panelling and very high ceilings. BEAUTIFUL!! A historic building! I loved my room, the staff is genuinely friendly and service is excellent. The only exception would be Room Service: they didn't quite understand English too well and what was brought did not match up to the description of what I ordered. But I could live without the missing Onion Rings and so I didn't inquire. All in all, the hotel is in a fantastic location. Oslo central is very small and the hotel is well placed. I really enjoyed staying at the hotel! Fantastic experience.
A hotel I can come back during cooler months.”
The room has no airconditioners, not comfortable to stay in the room during daytime and had difficulty sleeping at night due to summer heat even with windows open.
Warm, inviting hotel with lots of character!”
from the outside the bristol looks a bit like dracula's castle, but when i entered reception i felt like i'd walked into a study or library from another era; it was enchanting. wonderfully warm and inviting spaces with lots of character, cosy lighting and dark wood desks/panelling. location was great, very central. bedrooms were a decent size and comfortable - only negative was that the bathroom was very warm due to the ducted-heating in the floor. don't know if you could turn it down but it didn't kill the experience for me. the service was exceptional, helpful and cheery and they helped me with my mobile phone woes. here for 3 nights and thought it was good for the price, especially as the breakfast offering was really plentiful and good quality. only thing i'd suggest would be free tea/coffee in rooms or in the lobby. very happy with my choice for oslo.
Central location. Shopping and tourist attractions within walking distance. Nice and clean with spacious rooms. Crew very helpful. Morning buffet just overwhelming! Varied and plentiful and tasty – everything you might have wanted.
Oslo hotel in the old European style”
Comfortable hotel, in need of upgrades to rooms. One of the best locations to most things in Oslo, by walking or by public transportation, in the heart of the city. Breakfast typical Nordic, and acceptable
Great location, hotel with a relaxed atmosphere”
The location couldn't be better. Very close to Karl Johan (absolute center) but also in walking distance from the alternative nightlife in Grünerløkka with all its cafés, clubs and music places. The hotel has a relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, and pleasant traditional feel. The rooms are definately ok and will not disappoint you. We needed help from the staff and they did everything with a smile. Definately recommended hotel in the medium price categori.
Nice stay at a classic centre hotel”
Stay was made pleasent by friendly staff and I presume the value for money was good because of the free upgrade (from single room to double). Otherwise, the rooms need refurbishing and the bed comfort is far below the standard I'm used to when travelling to the US (Marriott for instance). But having tried a few different hotels in Oslo it's not bad compared to other centre hotels. Location is great, just one block from the main street and close everything.
Quick stay at Bristol”
Good location in center of Oslo. The building dates from 1910 and has kept original features in the reception area and in the rooms
I was extremely happy with my experience at the Thon Bristol Hotel. The single room they gave me faced away from the street, so it was very quiet even in a busy downtown neighborhood. Everything was very clean, there was plenty of space in the room to work, and free internet. I would definitely go back.
Very ornate and baroque hotel with old world charm. It is located right of the main drag between the parliament and the palace. Sumptous breakfast is generally included in the room rate. Around the hotel theirs tons of shopping cafes and shopping but Norway is a very expensive country so shopping ??? the only negative is that the hotel can be noisy on weekends if there is a private party on. Pastries in the coffee shop are excellent!!
