Exquisite stay! Hussein, the director, upgraded our room to a suite with a beautiful bathroom, very nice furniture, high ceiling! We recommend this hotel greatly!

The only thing I don't like was the hotel staff always tried to sell their tour or car service to us. And compared to the market price, their tour is over priced. The rest is quite good.

The Grand Royal is a small boutique hotel on the 6th floor of a very old building. Don't be put off by the access! Its worth taking the lift to the 6th floor, you won't be disappointed! Nothing is too much trouble for Mohamed and his team.

Bad experience”
We arrived very early in the morning and left the luggages at the reception. After walking around and came back for checking in, lady staff told us that the room is not big enough for our group even though we successfully be able to book 2 rooms, triple room & double room from Agoda and paid already. She moved us to Cairo Inn where is smaller room, lower floor and of course cheaper than this hotel without any permission asking from us. Don’t talk about new hotel, Cairo Inn where we moved to, the room was smell of cigarettes. So awful and disappointed

Great location, very helpful staff, excellent value! ”
This place was very good value for money. We had excellent service from all staff, especially Omar who organised a day trip for us and was always willing to go above and beyond. The room was clean and well sized, with a balcony which was great, however our private bathroom was across the hall - which is not an issue as it was a great big bathroom, just we didn’t realise it was separate. Would definitely recommend and stay here again!

Simple city hotel in a good location”
The hotel is about 5 minutes walk from Tahrir Square. The equipment is older and simple. Partly also defective. The rooms are all on one floor on the 6th floor of a large house. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The reception is open around the clock. The breakfast is very easy. Every day the same offer.

Fraudulent staff and substandard hotel”
The staff are nothing short of cheats. I had booked a Royal Double room through Agoda and it was paid for by credit card. When I reached the hotel the manager informed me that apparently there has been some sort of mistake and I have actually booked a tiny room not much larger than a shoebox. I was shocked - I have been booking through Agoda for years and never have I faced a situation like this. They offered to show me around the other two available rooms before I made a decision. Upon seeing one of the rooms I realised it's actually the same room which I had seen photos of on Agoda while booking. I had paid for it too. But they said I will have to pay extra $15 per night if I wanted to take that room or stay in the small room which I know I did not book through Agoda. I refused to pay any additional charges for a room I have already paid for! So I stayed in the small room. This was shocking level of dishonesty. It felt like they do this often with gullible customers and make them p

Friendly staff and best location”
I usually stay in Zamalek for business purpose, but this hotel is in the best location for sightseeing and moving around Cairo, especially by public transportation. The building was old but facility is okay. Staff are all friendly so you feel rather safe than to stay in a bigger hotel. Value for money.

Bad hotel”
Booked a room type with free airport pick up. But when contacting the hotel to arrange the airport transfer, hotel charged us USD20 for the airport arrangement! After checking with Agoda, Agoda agreed to reimburse back the USD20. However, I submitted the receipt to Agoda, no feedback is given. It has been 2 days that they didn’t reply me email. The breakfast of this hotel is very bad. It is not worth for 5USD! Don’t ever buy the hotel breakfast! It just providing cheese, grapes, Egyptian bread (2 choices), jam, butter, boiled egg, coffee and tea. No any other choice!

Worst hotel ever in Egypt! ”
The location no doubt is very strategic, but the service, facilities, breakfast of the hotel is very terrible! We booked a 4 nights stay in this hotel and arrived the hotel at 12am with tiredness and sleepiness hoping that we can check in as soon as we can so we can have a good rest. We waited in the lobby for 10 mins as the receptionist missing in action. We saw 2 staffs sitting aside and chatting but they asked me to wait the receptionist to come. The receptionist finally arrived to serve us and we are told that tonight have no room for us, and they will send us to their sister hotel for a night and then tomorrow transfer back to this hotel. We are very unhappy with the arrangement because we don’t want to change hotel that’s why we booked a 4 nights straight even though we are not staying in the hotel for 2 nights! The staff has a bad English and we were having a phone call with so-called “manager” and she trying to convince us to stay one night in her sister hotel which is located 5 mins walk away or 3 streets away. We being argued until 12.30am and concluded that we will stay 4 nights straight in her sister hotel instead of transferring back in the middle of the stay. We finally only able to settle down at 1am. It is very worst! The breakfast of this hotel is very bad. It is not worth for 5USD! It just provide cheese, grapes, Egyptian bread (2 choices), jam, butter, boiled egg, coffee and tea. No any other choice!

Great Stay for The price with friendly staff ”
First and Foremost Egypt is beautiful, the people are nothing short of amazing from their hospitality to their need to help your enjoy stay. I stayed at the Grand Royal hotel and they did nothing but help me discover this wonderful place. From the helpful manager of the hotel who helped organize the trips to Giza to see the pyramids and the Sphinx , Luxor to see all the temples from Karnak to Valley of the Kings, accommodating events from the Nile River cruise. They truly know how to fulfill your every need. As soon as I got to the hotel I was offered drinks and was given an upgrade to a beautiful room that overlooked the busy square below. It was a breathtaking view of the hustle and bustle of the city. All in all it was well worth the stay for the price and I would recommend anyone stay here for the price and the experience they provide and offer you.

Accommodating and Nice Staff. Clean Room. Good Consistent WIFI 👍🏼”
The hotel is located inside a big building in the Talaat Harb Square. Look for the blue sign ground level that says the hotel name. Have to take elevator up to sixth floor and your right in it. Location is great! Friendly staff from the start and nice clean room with comfortable bed. If your room is close to main seating area you will be woken up by breakfast being served to other guests in the morning. Not an issue for us as we were already awake! The bathroom was clean but the shower and bath were small. No shower curtain and the shower head was in odd place for showering. But always had hot water! Staff organized an amazing day tour of the pyramid and surrounding area and was very affordable at $70 for two people. Request the guide Mido for an unforgettable experience! Breakfast was good and filling (continental)but options of scrambled eggs, oatmeal or cereal would be nice options to have. Overall great stay and would definitely come back to stay again!

Seems HGR did not care much to honor agoda paid booking !!”
They shifted us to another hotel (which seems.... is Less in almost every factor compared to grand royal, I booked) without giving any single valid reason. I, along with my wife and two young children, had to carry 4 luggage (where 3 were big) near about half kilometer in cold night via walking to reach their prescribed hotel. HGR gave only one person (who carried one luggage) along with us to complete checking in there. With HGR I was agreed to shift to new as they informed prescribed one it was only 3/4 minutes away. But it took about 20/25 minutes to reach there. Mention-able that, I completed and paid in full at the time of booking to Agoda and I did that about 12days before

Great Stay”
The location was great and it was easy to find. The place was very nice, old world charm. They have friendly staff although there was some language barrier issue they tried their best to assist us. In the mornings, it can get crowded so its best to order breakfast as early as you can. It starts at 7:30 and we were there already but only got breakfast at 8am which was exact time of our tourguide pick up. So we had to eat very quickly.

It was best choice as I was looking for great location”
It was best choice as I was looking for great location from where I could go anywhere as well as there was good staff and clean room. 3 Wifi connections. Good receptions. No issues if you are solo traveler, if you are with friends or family only washroom inside the room have no roof and with glass walls. Its only issue I think if you are more people in one room. rest is good. cheers.

Not worth even for free!!!”
Airport transfer, location
First of all they gave me a normal room although I booked a suite!! They insisted it was a suite!! The bed was full of insects, and the staff was very rude. No phone in tbe room, no bathtub although it is said to have one, actually the bathroom is a small compartment inside the room. I totally cannot understand how it so overrated unless the good reviews were created by the hotel itself!! Not recommended even for free!!
