Overall the experience is good. Good value for money. ”
Yet the sound insulation is terrible. There was a big group guest of high school girls (around 30-40 ppl) on my 1st night stay there, they were so loud and kept making noises on the hallway till 1am. Very annoying. The hotel staff was nice and change another quieter room the next day. If you are going to stay here and require a quality rest time, make sure they give you a room not close to the elevator.
The hotel is about 10-15 mins' walk from the railway station, and even closer than that to Micklegate Bar (Gate) where there's a lovely souvenir shop. Staff were very helpful and allowed me to leave my luggage twice: early in the morning on the day I arrived, and after checkout on the day I left. Breakfast is a nice buffet spread with plenty of variety. I stayed three nights and the room was cleaned every day. There's a tasty fish and chips shop nearby and also a Sainsbury's Local.
So close to the old town”
This place turned out to be a gem.Large room, very close to old town ( 5 minute walk to the wall),good buffet breakfast and nice staff and a few pubs nearby to eat at.You pay £7.50 for a good hot buffet breakfast ( if you do not have it includedin the price) and pay £9 for 24 hour car park under the hotel. It is also a flat 8 minute walk to the train station Overall a very good experience
1 overnight stay”
This Ibis has limited parking spaces. Having attained a parking spot on arrival was great for us. Just what we needed. Once payment was made our place was ours for 24 hours. This was excellent. Breakfast was very good. Otherwise everything is "just as it says on the tin".
Good Hotel - Great Location”
Hotel is ideally located about 10 minutes from centre of York and about 7 minutes from train station. It is easy to find being on a main route in/out of the city. The rooms are of a good size, clean and the bathroom and shower facilities are adequate. The staff were very friendly and there were no issues checking in 2 hours before the official check in time. Te car park is fairly secure and the cost of parking is very reasonable at £7 for 24 hours. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and will definitely stay here again on any future visits to York.
Great location but not a nice room”
It’s within walking distance to the city center. However, the room was really unsatisfying. The air con did not work and the windows would not open so the room was ready hot and stinky of smoking. The shower was too strong and it was half open so the floor was really wet in the bathroom. The floor and walls are really dodgy, we could hear people walking around and talking from other rooms all night long. The value for money was not good considering how much we paid.
Lovely staff but otherwise disappointing”
The staff were very friendly and helpful, couldn't fault them. The hotel itself was poor. Great location (for city centre and station) but dirty, smelly and noisy, not well maintained. No bath in our room. Bed very hard. Breakfast ok, nothing special, smell of cigarette smoke wafting in through side door beside where we were sitting. Overall not good value for money - wouldn't have minded the above criticisms so much if it had been half the price.
Good value, location, excellent breakfast
A little off city center / station but York is compact enough to navigate on foot. Room was very spacious and comfortable.
breakfast is awesome (need to pay extra though) the location is alright but too far away within 10mins distance. the room size is acceptable for two people. the bathroom is clean but it would be perfect if it could be a little bit cleaner and newer
Pleasant Stay in York”
For what we paid, it's valuable. Only 5-10 minutes walk to city center, it's a nice place and location, with lots of shops and restaurants nearby. The room was spacious, clean, and they have lift (that will make your life easier with your luggage). Parking was £7 P for 24 hours.
I don't drive. The location was a bit far away from the main attractions, approximately a good 15 minute walk. I stayed there for 1 night so I am don't really expected much. The room is clean which is always a good thing.
best location, clean good view ,good breakfast ”
near railway station only 10-15min by walk. Good view you can see town view from hotel.(I got room in 3 floor) and excellent breakfast for low price only 6 pounds. very suggest if you come to visit York!
Location is OK, breakfast excellent”
The room is clean and good; value for money. However, they started charging for parking recently (think it is £8) and it wasn't stated on agoda before we book. Breakfast is cheaper if you book on the spot when you check-in, instead of the next morning, and the spread is excellent.
One night stay”
Set close to the city with free parking and Wi-Fi which was just what we needed for our overnight stay after a concert at The Barbican which was a 15/20 minute walk away. Easy walk into York so great location. Very friendly staff. The option was there to pay for a buffet breakfast ( cheaper if you book the night before ) but we just made use of the free tea and coffee in the room.
We were a group of ladies mixed ages from 24 to 61 celebrating a 30th birthday. The rooms and bathrooms were clean. Staff very helpful, especially Charlotte who always seemed to be on duty. We had breakfast which was well worth the money and we were pleased it was served until 12 as then we didnt have to rush to be up after a late night out.
The stay was nice and relaxing just what we need after some stressful weeks at work. We were able to check in late due to finishing work at 5 and the staff dealt with everything professionally. Would recommend this hotel as it's close to city centre and a lovely place to stay.
The room is clean but small”
When I check on the internet, it showed it is only 10minutes walking from train station to hotel. I decided to walk there. However, It took me 1 hour to get to the hotel because I could not find the road name. The reason for that because they divided one road to be 3 parts with 3 different name. The hotel is on the Mount but the name on map is Blossom. Once you find where it is, it is closed to everything. Hotel room was clean, but so small, I could not open the door probably. View is nice and bed is very comfortable.
Terrible Experience, not recommend”
This was the most terrible experience in my Europe trip, hotel entry with stairs, some straight smell in the reception. We were being arranged on 3rd floor, when we arrived, we found that there were some stairs on the 3rd floor, we had to pick up our luggage to pass through it. How come a hotel with stairs on the 3rd floor. SO STRAIGHT. Wifi is not working so well. Luckily, we just stayed one night. Not Recommended.
Excellent location within walking distance of railway station - 10 minutes at most. The old town York sites are all within walking distance including the RR museum, wall, and shambles. Exceptionally helpful staff. Hotel is in the process of being remodled. Stayed there 2 nights and would do so again.
