We stayed 4 nights in Kinugawa Onsen hotel. Location if quite far from major tourist attraction. But again, this place is an Onsen place. Japanese people go to Kinugawa to enjoy Onsen and have a quiet vacation. If you want a relaxing vacation and enjoy good food, I recommend this place. Breakfast and dinner are served buffet style, so you can eat your heart's delight. I personally enjoyed bluefin tuna sashimi everyday. Their steak was good and their ice cream and desserts were exceptionally delicious On our 3rd day, we were surprised we were served grilled lobsters and on the 4th day of dinner, we were served Crab sashimi. Both were so good. By the way, we celebrated my wife's birthday and the staff sang to my wife and they gave her a special gift . Well appreciated. Special mention to the restaurant staff named APRIL. She works fast and she recommended to us places to visit in Kinugawa. Very lucky to have a person working for your hotel.
Great onsen and amenities 👍🏼🥰”
Love their room with great use of mix design, functionable and very spacious. Can get great river view from room. Dinner and Breakfast buffets have varieties of Japanese and Western food. Onsen is awesome with various ingredients to relax in, great amenities provided, really love it and will like to be back there again! Driving there free parking anothere great services hotel to recommend.
The hotel has open for many years, but they maintain to be newly look. They have a lot of facility especially onsen and dinner buffet/breakfast which is something you cannot miss, so variety, plenty and delicious unfortunately time limit is 90minute. The parking lot is quite far but hotel has shuttle bus to take you there. It took 45 minutes driving from nikko to this hotel. (They have free shuttle between the train station) Two things to complain - Even room looks clean but air condition is so dusty. - They has onsen tax exclude but very cheap(150Yen/person).
Shame I didn't get to enjoy this amazing place due to the biggest storm in 20 years”
It was unfortunate for our family not being able to enjoy the room we had been looking forward to for our 2 weeks trip, due to the biggest storm and rain in 20 years causing all transportation to stop for a day..... It was very very kind for the hotel to respond to our email in lighting speed and made an exception not to charge us with us providing valid proofs. Definitely will try and book again next time I am in Kyushu! Thank you!!!
easy to access the hotel from kinugawa station by taxi only 5 minutes and pay about 800 yen. Onsen in hotel was nice, but not too much type for my choice. The breakfast and dinner are buffet superb, many dishes and delicious.
GREAT ONSEN PLACE”
GREAT FOR ONSEN. ALSO THE BUFFET!
Relax with nice food and onsen ”
Pro: relatively cheaper than similar hotel (such as Asaya) Good onsen and not crowded when I visited. Dinner buffet has a lot of variety to select from, even fried rice and fried noodle taste great. Room is spacious and quiet. Cons: no all you can eat crab legs like the one Asaya has, which I like a lot.
Hotel with a public bath. Fun experience. With japanese style tatami room with view on the river. The location between 2 station was not the best. The dinner was a buffet which had some local specialities but could have been better.
The hotel is very good.”
The room is big enough for 3 adults. The hotel buffet restaurant is good , provide both breakfast and dinner. The hotel public bath is very good. Both indoor and outdoor public bath are provided with full amenities.
Genuine Japanese hospitality and the best onsen experience”
The hotel has one of the best location in Kunigawa! Sitting right above the Kunigawa gorge, each room has a spectacular view of the gorge below. Topping that with beautiful mountains surrounding then you have a perfect dream like room for a relaxing weekend outing or romantic get away! The wooden floor room is large with traditional Japanese ryokan settings! The best about this place is its exceptional service and charming hospitality. Guests feel welcome right away the moment you step off the shuttle! Of course. people come here for its famous onsen so this is The place to experience onsen in all Japan! The resort also offers half and full boarding so the food served here was so fresh and highly nutritious. The hotel locates right at the center of town so it's within walking distance to near by restaurants. It's a small town so the atmosphere was so peaceful and relaxing!
I lost my back bag on the train way to hotel which has my passport and some money in it. The hotel staff help me give call to check with railway company and finally found my bag. Fortunately my passport still in bag although money is lost. I want to give the hotel staff my sincerely thank for their help.
Everything is new and clean (even public hot spring) ”
I would highly recommend the hotel to family with child and couples. The room is clean and the view is splendid with mountain and river, our room is a traditional Japanese style. Public and private hot springs spa are must try. Buffet food is good. Staff is nice & polite. There is transferred bus from the hotel to train stations and sightseeing spots.
The best thing about this hotel is the dinner buffet which provide variety of food. The room is quiet old and the smell of the tatami is very strong. We choose non smoking room but still smell cigarette smoke through the ventilation. Overall this's a good place to stay especially if you like buffet dinner with a lot of food.
Best for luxuary hotel in Nikko”
Dinner here is best ^^
Nice and luxuary Ryokan ”
Dinner Buffet here is suberb. Great time relaxing in Nikko .
The individual onsen was divine~
What a wonderful experience”
It's a long way from station to hotel and the bus is only run at the limited time. But still it's a wonderful trip. Nice staff and warm welcoming. Special Japan style dinner at room. Nice Japanese lady to prepare the meal. Good Breakfast. Cannot stay late after check out time because no bus service. Overall it's a wonderful trip
Location, Nice Staff”
Location is great, staff is nice. Parking needs a bit of patient when you want to get back your car in the following morning as they parked the car somewhere not close to the hotel, they provided shuttle bus taking you to the second parking lot, very good services, as the shuttle stops exactly in front of your car, no need to walk at all, very thoughtful.
Traditional Japanese Onsen Hotel”
This hotel is a very traditional japanese onsen hotel located just besides the Kinugawa River. Our room has a great view overseeing the river and mountain. Rooms are equipped with Tatami beds and Japanese Rayon Robes are provided for adults and children. Communal onsen hot spring bath facilities are located at 4th level (separate facilities for men and women). This hotel provides great traditional Japanese buffet breakfast and dinner for half-board visitors. Most of the food are sourced from fresh local produce. The spring egg and the Japanese rice from Tochigi Prefecture are a must try. Overall, this is great place for those looking for a zen retreat. However, they charged the meals separatedly for my 2 daughters even though both of them are below 4 years. Hotel staffs speak very little English.
Good Hotel ”
We travel from Tokyo take around 2hrs to reach the hotel, so tired lucky the room is big, transport convenience as public bus will stop at the hotel. Dinner and breakfast was good, we stay for two night we thought the food will be same, which is not a few dishes was different and yummy! We book a private Onsen and tried public also very good. The public bus will going around tourist sport so just follow the time back to hotel.
