Always choose hotel from north of Mauritius, it's sunny. In south it's raining often. Le Meridien is very nice hotel with perfect service.
Nice hotel with fabulous staff”
The staff in the hotel really contribute to making your experience great. A lot of water activities and the food was good too. The rooms are a bit old and need refurbishment , but are still very comfortable. The beaches in this area of mauritius are a bit rocky and a lot of shells. Over all a good resort. Would definitely go back , value for money.
Super Scenic yet reasonable! ”
Hotel has awesome views, well maintained gardens, pools and jetty. Numerous spots are there to capture your perfect snap. Good breakfast spread, few free water sports, jacuzzi, steam etc would definitely delight you. However somethings to ponder upon: 1. Dinner options not too great. Mainly expensive buffets are there. Overcrowded La Faya may put you off as this is the only non buffet option. In room dining is not great. Price in the menu and the actual bill may differ. E.g.: Margaritha pizza for which price charged is nearly double of what is mentioned in the menu. 2. Amicable behaviour and the most important thing - a feel good smile was missing from the face of lot of staff members. Hope they improve and provide little bit more special treatment to the guests. 3. Water sports management needs to be little more accommodating and manage guests in more amicable and accommodating way. In particular I didn't like one person talking over cell phone while I was waiting for few enquiries. 4. Numerous times hotel operator didn't pick up our calls. Hence I had to walk all the way to reception to resolve our queries. These are few observations on which hotel could improve to achieve full 5 star rating. Anyways, I had good experience and loved the breathtaking views especially during sunsets.
We loved this place!”
We live in Mauritius and have visited several hotels for overnights and weekends. We really loved this place! We had room service the night we were there and the food was amazing! We enjoyed the large bath tubs and the internet in the room. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We will definitely stay here again!
Great Scenic Views and Great Service”
The hotel was magnificent. The situation although very close to any town was ideally situated for our purposes; a quite breakaway holiday. Initially I was upgraded to a “Nirvana” suite but with no views to the sea. After a night in this room I asked to be re-located to a sea facing room as originally booked. This was resolved to my satisfaction. The hotel is fantastically situated right on the beach with beautiful gardens and four restaurants. The food was one of the highlights with the buffet being vast and varied. The room was well appointed and more than adequate to our needs. The staff were polite and very friendly which added to the enjoyment of our seven night stay. The free watersport was always available in in perfect condition.
Amazing Honeymoon Destination ❤”
Our honeymoon at Le Meridien was absolutely fantastic! We enjoyed every moment of it, especially the helpful staff that helped set up a suprise dinner on the beach, as well as organised the honeymoon package and spa treatment. For couples, the best location is the Nirvana which is more private and more suitable for couples looking for a quiet getaway.
value for money”
Chris from the boat house was absolutely helpful, Aarti from Shells restaurant was always so friendly, my overall stay was very comfortable, before I stayed at this hotel, I read alot of reviews some not so positive but mine was a romantic and comfortable stay.
Beautiful Location and excellent service”
we had a lovely stay at le meridien. two days felt like two weeks! wonderful location, beautiful views and great dining at the different restaurants. combine this with excellent service from the staff, and really going the extra mile to make our stay one we will remember!
Amazing and beautiful hotel”
This hotel is amazing and the first view when you enter the hotel reception is so stunning. The rooms are spacious and open and super clean and the extra touches like the chocolates on the bed and the lovely toiletries in the bathroom made the stay ay Meridien extra luxurious. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food especially in the Shells restaurant is delicious. I would love to visit this hotel again in the future and would definately recomend.
THE STAFF MADE THE PLACE GREAT”
The staff at the hotel were excellent - from arrival till check out. We were very well looked after. If I return to this resort, it will probably be because of the staff. Nelly, in particular, was extremely helpful on a daily basis - making our booking for WALK WITH THE LIONS, giving us useful tips, helping us get ready for departure, etc. Apart from the excellent service, the resort is lovely as well. The pool on the main side is BIG and there's a smaller pool on the Nirvana wing (no children allowed there). We didn't swim because it was quite cold. Water sports looked fun but we didn't do anything as we spent most of our time exploring outside the hotel. Just FYI, there are many big rocks by the shore. Rocks stand between the shore and the sea. I think the hotel provides you with special shoes to walk around in the sea. Overall, it was a good trip. Do your research and I definitely recommend renting a car for a few days. You can even pick it up and return it at the airport. The cost per day for the 2 of us was as much as a 1 way taxi transfer (30 Euros). Good luck!
It has seen better days...”
Check-in was a wait and I understand it can get busy but when I'm told it would be 15 minutes which then dragged on to 2.5 hours without any updates I thought they genuinely forgot about me. Finally given keys and quickly handed over to bellboy with no explanation of my stay i.e. facilities, meal times etc., a stark contrast to the guests seated right next to me who had reception come over, introduce themselves and explain their entire stay from start to finish before being escorted to their room. After all that, both my room keys did not work and I wasn't given a towel card to get beach towels. Public areas were beautiful but it was clear that Le Meridien has seen better days. The rooms could definitely be refurbished, better lighting, reupholster furniture, a new coat of paint or varnish, a little goes a long way! For the price paid, I was surprised to find complimentary water only given on first day and daily stained towels were a norm. It wasn't terrible but could better.
Holiday resort for the rich”
Good location with great views. The facilities were well maintained. We had to be a little persistent with the staff for requests that we had and felt the price of the hotel was a little higher than what we actually received.
Best Hotel in Mauritius ”
I can only say that if you would like to be treated like a king, enjoy beauty, have everything you need at your door, where else would you like to go. My stay was wonderful, The staff made me feel that nothing was to much to ask, and did everything with a smile. Its a beautiful hotel, the rooms are spectacular, the food are excellent and the service was great.
Overall Good experience”
When I visited, the hotel was under reconstruction. Though some parts of the hotel were a no go but we got a good deal.
nice staff, good location and hotel features”
We spent our Easter holiday in the hotel, enjoyed it a lot. Nice location, quick bus/taxi ride to Grand Bay where there were a lot of bars and restaurants. We also liked the hotel itself, we tried all the sport activities, relaxed on the beach and tried the restaurants. We don't need a lot to enjoy our time, I would recommend the hotel to anybody, families, couples or single travelers.
Really lovely hotel, friendly staff, will go again”
Very pleasant & relaxing stay.....nothing less than what we expected. We had an all inclusive package, so it was definately worth it. We got the best deal booking with agoda....my kids had a ball of a time, will def go back again
Not worth the money :( ended up leaving.... BUT they did transfer us somewhere amazing”
This hotel was probably great 20 years ago, but for people used to business hotels/ premium price/ travellers used to US/ London level of service = prob not for you. We're a couple (pretty robust/ non-fussy) but to be honest it was pretty stressful staying here eg not enough sun loungers/ restaurant space etc etc. Asking for things LOTS of times etc. HOWEVER - when we told them they pretty much immediately moved us to their sister hotel, which was absolutely AMAZING (The Westin). I don't normally write reviews, but felt it only fair to share our experience. They were nice people but unless you're looking for a 'package' type experience and get a bargain on price, wouldn't recommend. If you're thinking about a bit of cheap sun and comparing it to (for example a Spanish resort) and you get a good deal = probably fine. If you're looking for an amazing, luxury travel experience, go to The Westin.
Best Location Deluxe Ocean view Room 137 ”
Excellent location. Staff not working up to the mark. Laid back attitude of management & staff in general. Not that courteous staff in general. Surprisingly this callous attitude of staff applies to staff at all places. But great location overcomes all the drawbacks. Hotel needs renovation desperately. Overall an excellent stay. Best Location Deluxe Ocean view Room 137.
Never going back”
I booked Le Meridien for my belated honeymoon with my husband who has never been to Mauritius before. Upon arrival, the lady taking care of our booking convinced us to "upgrade" as it was vital we had a pleasant stay to remember. We paid extra to "upgrade" however upon arrival to the room, the bathroom was dirty, there was mould in the walls and tiles, parts of the wall was popping out of the wall, the sheets had stains on them and the room smelt unpleasant. After bringing this to the attention of the staff member, they moved our room however the condition did not improve. The staff member was quite rude and abrupt during the whole process. We basically paid money for something which was horrible and left Mauritius not wanting to go back.
Good professional hotel”
The resort has a good service mentality , although that should be expected in a 4* hotel. It has plenty of watersport activities to keep you busy during the day. The downside is that the lagoon is very shallow at this point which means that all windsurfing, kayaking, peddle boating, waterskiing and sailing takes place in the 50 - 75 meters between the beach and the reef, which is a little crowded. The hotel's location is also not really great. The beach looks out onto the industrial port of Port Louis and it's not near any interesting town, so you're pretty much confined to the resort. Tip. Rent a car. You can easily visit anywhere on the island as a day trip if you have a car.
