Easy to find from the train station, easy to walk to my client, the evening I was very close to a wide range of places to eat.

Good location but needs updating”
The room was quite small which I expected to be a little more bigger. The Tv was facing away from the bed. It had no menu where you can scroll to see what’s on, instead you had to go through each channel one by one to see what was on. The bathroom was very cold with no radiator also a towel rail which didn’t work. The hot water took over 10 mins to come through the shower, by the time I was so cold and ready to come out. It’s an old building looks lovely from outside but needs updating and modernising. The sofa’s in the reception were tired and need replacing or reupholstered! The breakfast was cold. Toast came out after I had almost finished my breakfast. Personally I felt I paid a lot of money and didn’t get a good service!

Brilliant location!”
Everything was great except for breakfast. I was surprised to have an order-at-table breakfast and to be served a cooked English which was served to order, nor cooked to order; not even the eggs. When the waitress asked if I wanted a window seat she idicated a table next to a group. When I made my own way to a quiet table, the waitress was so put out that she left me to it - literally stared at me as I seated myself and didn't discuss the menu with me or even offer the buffet in the next room. Uncomfortable.

Acceptable”
This is a great location if you wish to be close to New Street and use the Train, if you are a driver and are not from the area, it absolutely is not. A fair walk from the New Street NCP car park through streets, not clear on directions with beggers, druggies, homeless as you walk to the Hotel feeling rather intimidated. Dated hotel and if I had not saved £40 through your site and pre-paid, I would have cancelled my reservation. I explained in advance of my late arrival I would be a lone female traveller new to the area -but no offer of further assistance/directions etc Radisson Blu offered more help and directions when I went in to ask! The colleagues who work there are the best thing about this hotel.

Efficient and Welcoming Staff”
The room was as described on the website...ample size, comfortable and clean with a touch of luxury. The staff worked seamlessly behind the scenes to make our stay one to remember. The service was a bit slow at breakfast but eggs and porridge were cooked to perfection we had to ask twice for marmalade as this was not among the preserves on the table and ..oh dear the tea..why was it grey.. it certainly wasn't Earl! Shame as we had been spoilt with Twinings Breakfast tea in the room. Overall though we had a very pleasant stay and would recomment this hotel ; especially as it is in the heart of the city and so close to Birmingham New Street rail station.

Does not worth the money”
The heater didn't work, all they said from the reception was to send one more blanket? They said there is a general breakdown, and will be fixed within an hour. After 12 hours the room was still ice cold, with an outside temp. of 7 degrees. Also: 10 pounds per hour for late check out? have you seen such an action by any hotel? Old , greasy and dirty bathroom, quite old room, might be the worst view from the window, looking at the fans of airconditioners. Finding your way within the hotel building is also difficult, stairs then elevators then stairs again. We made an advance booking for 140 pound per day, and had a guest coming at the last minute who paid 118 taxes included. Only thing is distance from the train station. Certainly doesn't worth the money we paid at all!

Nice hotel but didn't live up to expectations.”
growing up in Birmingham, this hotel is a local institution and regarded as very 'posh'. It has many merits-a lovely building, well maintained and right in the heart of the city (literally next to the station). Although the staff were wonderful on one day-polite, helpful and friendly-when we arrived the staff member who checked us in was quite artificial in conversation, very abrupt and ignored us for the next day as we walked past the desk. One night all the fire alarms went off-we followed the evacuation route to a back alley! No one from the hotel checked we were OK and there was much confusion -we were sent back in with alarms still ringing, then evacuated a second time…the staff seemed ill prepared for an emergency and did not clearly communicate what was happening. Not very nice at 1 am! Didn't eat at the hotel as veggie options were unimaginative. We would not stay here again for the money charged but if you don't have dietary restrictions and want to be in a lovely building in the heart of town, it is still a fair option.

Fantastic location next to the train station and city centre - cannot be beaten! Lovely staff and we got a great deal with breakfast. Word of warning - the standard double bed is small - upgrade to something bigger. I am over 6ft and there wasn't much space for my girlfriend!

Hotel With Character ”
Overlooking New St, this historic hotel has character and a great location if travelling by train. View from restaurant is great though some of the rooms overlook miscellaneous infrastructure. Room was good with excellent large bed.
