Overpriced at 211 GBP per room, didn't even include breakfast. Booking system confusing.”
Price at 211 GBP per night per room was more than double the 98 GBP we paid for the Inverness Royal Highland Hotel next the station on our northbound journey. Mercure skimped on toiletries and bedroom provisions; no bottled water in room. Shower taps difficult to operate and no hand-rail in shower. No waiter service for tea and coffee at breakfast, so guests had to make their own from dispensing machine at far end of dining room. Mercure's online booking system needs to be rationalised as it is very unclear and resulted in much time-wasting. I do not see how they can justify accepting cancellations but refusing to refund the money.

Great location.”
If you get a room that is facing town, it can get noisy on weekend nights. Room feels dated and needs a refresh. Ventilation started making noise shortly after we entered the room, staff said they will send someone but no one came.

Good Value City Centre Accommodation”
Good sized comfortable and quiet room at a very reasonable room rate. Staff friendly and efficient. Breakfast a bit steep at £11 and a standard malt whisky in the bar over twice the price of another hotel two hundred metres along the road.

Perfect locatoin”
Great location in the middle of Inverness, close to bus station & train station. Plenty of shops and restaurants around the hotel. Professional and well trained staff who thoroughly explained hotel and options. Good bar and restaurant - the later has a nice view of the river. Double room was good. Desk, big modern tv, comfortable bed. Bathroom was good with hot shower with good water pressure. Wifi was good. Negatives: High room price which didn't include breakfast. From the room could hear doors closing loudly in corridore and people having conversations, thus not the best sound insulation. No fridge in the room.

Disappointing hotel, good location”
The staff are the redeeming feature of this tired hotel. In the first room the heating did not work. We were given a heater but a couple of matches would have given out more heat. Not the staff's fault but an old heater. Moved to a second room which was in need of updating and a good clean. Staff throughout the hotel could not have tried harder but the hotel needs a total update. First impressions are of slightly grubby carpets and dated furniture.

Very nice location”
the hotel is 100 m to the station and very very central. Inverness is a beautiful town. We visited a restaurant called Mustard Seed which is 2 mins walk from the hotel - amazing place. we got a river view room which was amazing! the view is to die for! the rooms are massive with very comfortable bed. requires a bit of upgrading in terms of lighting in the room and control systems. our hot water was also not working on day 1 but got fixed soon after. the walk around River Ness is beautiful!

Good Value for money”
Found hotel overlooking the river Ness without much difficulty. Parking in hotel forecourt was easy and cost GBP 6.00. Not sure if that was price per 24 hrs or for whole stay as we only had 1 night here. Got upgraded to "privilege" room which was beautifully decorated with a large bathroom recently renovated to a high standard. Plenty of hot water and a heated towel rail - important things in the Highlands in March ! Brrrr.... Only let down was the restaurant. food was OK and service reasonable but prices were high for the portions served. Breakfast choice was adequate but the orange juice was watered down and the scrambled eggs were not freshly prepared and a bit dry. It was also clear that the waitress taking room numbers was judging whether you were "worthy" of a window table overlooking the river. We were shown to an inside table despite a couple of window tables being empty. Al these tables with a view were given to elderly couples. Ageism in reverse!

Unable to sleep on a Monday night!!!!”
clean, parking and can't give a third as we got no sleep
The stay was not satisfactory which is the first time I've ever had a complaint from a Mecure hotel. The noise from the seagulls and pub/nightclub made it impossible to sleep. We checked the windows were closed (they were) but the noise was loud and relentless. As we were leaving the next morning, from outside the hotel, my husband noticed window vents were open. Once we closed these the noise was greatly reduced! Problem was it wasn't easy to see the vents behind the curtains and no one told us about them. Have never seen vents like this on a window before your hotel should have a sign or someone should mention their presence at checkin.
