Great Choice in Historic District”
Really can't beat this place if you're looking for a convenient place in the historic district of George Town. The rooms are spacious and comfortably designed. Staff were friendly and you're within walking distance of everything. Quiet street too.
Central Location and great staff!”
we had a wonderful stay... the staff were very accommodating and the location is walking distance to the main historical attraction of George Town. The cafe offers an excellent dish (breakfast, lunch and dinner) complemented with a cozy ambiance atmosphere. ,
This is the 3rd time I have spent my time in Muntri Mews with my family including my dog. The hotel is clean, nicely maintained and allows pets which is a big plus point. However, I have heard that the owner is considering reviewing this policy. If pets are not allowed anymore in future, I will no longer be coming to this place.
Charming boutique hotel”
Charming boutique hotel with n excellent restaurant, located pretty much in the center of town. Just a stone’s throw away is Love Lane and Chuilia Street where the street foods scatter at night. Rooms are very spacious, but the bathroom is on the small side with very little space for your toiletries. The best thing about this hotel is the food. Great breakfast choices and the dinner we had one evening were likewise exceptional. We love the staff, very helpful and friendly.
The room was super spacious and uniquely decorated. The surrounding was quiet and by night time, it was super calm. Had some problems with parking tho but aside from that, everything else was just perfect.
Spacious. Cozy. Relax. Clean. Good location.”
We stayed at family room. It located in one heritage lot complete with 4 other rooms. It has sharing lounge and living hall. We like the whole cozy and relax idea. The room was clean and spacious. The details design and concern in each area are well noticed. We definitely will return stay again.
Exceptional boutique hotel”
Brought my parents and sibling to Penang for a short getaway. Loving the location as it is indeed very convenient and accessible. Love the staff as they are friendly and helpful! We stayed at a Family Room and it was located at the opposite street of the Reception. As it was a Peranakan Boutique hotel, the decoration and furniture of the house totally fit into a Modernize Peranakan theme. Our room was located on the second level, though there wasn't any lift to access up, the staff was helpful enough to help us to bring up our heavy luggage up into the room. Would say it's a hotel that is good for the youngster but have to reconsider if there is elderly with walking difficulty.
the place was awesome.i love all the oriental detailing plus modern furnitures in our room. it was lovely.the shower was great.the breakfast was yummeyh n the location was at the hot spot in penang accessible in a walking distance & grab/uber.would recommend to others
Antique yet Modern”
Upon check-in, the hotel personal will escort me & my husband to our room, they help carrying my luggage as well. 10 mins after check-in, they serve us fruits (3 oranges & 1 red apple) with Tau Sar Peah (Penang famous green bean biscuit), tamarind candies & chinese tea. As it is heritage hotel the interior is a mixture of antique & modern blend, making it very special. The bed is very comfortable, provided 4 pillows & 1 huge pillow. The shower is clean and spacious, with black & white floor tiles. Complimentary breakfast is excellent with few variation - mostly western. Most recommended: Nasi Lemak!
Nice location, corner area away from noisy bars”
I was very thankful to have booked such as nice accommodation for my trip - the location is perfect. In a quiet corner where you can get a good night's sleep, yet within walking distance to all the nice and interesting places in the vicinity. The room is a good size for a couple, may be abit tight for three people. The bed is large and the pillows nice and firm. Natural light gets in through the windows and can be blocked off if required. Bathroom looks brand new, clean and with good drainage and has lots of space and amenities. Breakfast offers both local and western options - the nasi lemak is good. Will stay here again when we next visit Penang.
A very special place to stay,”
Our stay at Muntri Mews was great. When we arrived with our car, the staff were quick to help us out with parking. The room was equipped with blue lamps and mosquito curtain. The beds were huge and extremely comfortable. The staff were all very friendly and took the extra step to make us feel comfortable. The cafe was very good, serving a yummy breakfast with wide selection of dishes, fresh juice and great coffee. I loved the hotel as it has very few rooms so it gave a cozy and personal touch to our stay.
Situated in the heritage site, this cosy yet complete accommodation offers great facilities and environment for relaxation yet still connected to the wonderful Penang attractions. The interior layout is vintage, classic with style. Definitely for those who love to be 'brought back' to the life of the past nobles. I would strongly recommend this to couples, especially those on honeymoon.
Boutique Hotel ”
Clean large room, bathroom with disco light on shower head :) Nice huge bed Not too far to walk from Komtar bus terminal We booked Muntri Grove but it was under renovation so we were given Muntri Mews instead with discount so can't complain. wifi was good Will be back
My favorite of the "mews" in town”
On one trip we stay at both "Mews" in town owned by the same person at one time. The location of this one is more central and closer to the restaurants and sights. The other, however, did have a pool. This would be my choice of the two because of the location.
Feel like home ”
I like the atmosphere here and calming. Employees very cheerful , Beautiful place , great drink Actually we booked and paid for another hotel, but we chose this hotel for our vocation. Love here.
A cool old house !!”
It was nice to stay at the old house hotel like this, with cool design also can experience the traditional Malaysian culture !! Also because of the nice location that you can easy to travel and get some traditional food close by !!
Lovely Small Boutique Hotel, Fantastic Location”
If you love to walk, this is a great location. Almost everything in the UNESCO World Heritage Zone is in walking distance. The hotel is beautifully designed with attention to detail. I stayed 4 nights; my room was always spotless and quiet. The character and charm of the hotel along with the very friendly staff made this a great stay. There are so many restaurants nearby it is hard to choose but I also ate at the restaurant here which is excellent.
Beautiful place and would recommend”
It was good overall. Spacious and clean room with decent air conditioning. It was a pleasant surprise when I realised that even the flavoured drinks in the fridge are free of charge which I have never encountered before. Nice decorations/setting where the historical feel of the structure is preserved but still modern. Very different from modern hotels. Staff was pretty helpful too. The down sides are sound travels and even amplify. I guess it's because we stayed at the shophouse and the structure is built like that. On the bright side, everybody was quiet at night so sleep was no disturbed. Also, there's only stairs to the room which can be troublesome you are carrying large luggages. There's a bolt lock on the outside of the door which got my parents worried as anyone could play a prank and bolt it from the outside, locking us in. Pretty funny though. Cab drivers are not familiar with the place but they all figured it out in the end.
old mews transformed and relived into a modern accommodation”
lovely decoration in an old town, layouts of rooms can be still related to the old mews yet the interior is totally transformed. great combination of tradition and modernity. highly recommend. staff is helpful and friendly too.
Nice heritage hotel conveniently located”
The hotel is conveniently located in George Town, and most heritage spots are within 15 minutes of walk. The Komtar Tower (for bus to outskirts) is also only 15 minutes walk from hotel. Staff are very detail minded when cleaning rooms (closing all window shades in evening and open them during the day, re-filling free drinks in fridge, etc.). The bed is very large and spacious and comfy.
