Traveling to Myanmar? Find Yangon Division hotels

I traveled to Myanmar with my family. We stayed in Yangon for 2 nights, flew out to Bagan, then came back to spend one more night in Yangon. Both times we stayed in Yangon, we stayed at Esperado Lake View Hotel. The hotel is nicely located, easily accessible to taxis where for about $2 you can get to downtown. The rooms were very nice - newly renovated with modern and comfortable facilities. The bathrooms were huge, and the beds and linens were new. The rooms are definitely worth more than we paid. The staff were probably the best thing about the hotel. They were very friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond whatever we asked. We plan to visit Yangon again, and whenever we do, we will be sure to stay in Esperado Lake Hotel.

My dad and I stayed (not "couple") there for 2 nights to start off our trip in Myanmar, and what a great choice this was. We were SO impressed by the attentiveness of the staff there. One of them in particular (sorry, no name..) once helped us get a taxi, the driver turned out he didn't know where he was going and we ended up taking a different one later. Next day, the same staff who helped us checked in to see if everything went okay, perhaps he got the feeling something was not perfect. I explained it to him, and he apologized for the incident, and said he will make sure they don't take that taxi driver again. Once my dad was sitting by the pool reading a book, and he didn't want to order anything. A server still brought out a glass of cold water and a plate of fruit. The high performing staff is just one of the positive sides of the hotel. Rooms are really nicely done, the facilities are super clean and well maintained. Breakfast is done well. The hotel is located outside busy downtown, but still reachable via taxi to/ from everywhere. Considering fare goes for 2000 - 4000 k, pretty much anywhere in Yangon, we were rewarded with peace and quiet. We will stay there in a heart beat next time in Yangon.

Picked this hotel as it's away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Yangon, but still has good access, depending on the traffic. Picked a Club Room with a view over the Royal Park and the Pagoda and the extra price was well worth it. Room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Don't normally eat in hotels in the evening, we did eat here one evening and enjoyed a very nice seafood buffet which was reasonably priced. The staff at this hotel were exceptionally friendly and a font of local knowledge. Hotels in Yangon are fairly expensive, as was this one, as hotels are in short supply, this hotel wasn't cheap but still provided value for money and would certainly stay there again.

Rather expensive but this is considered one of the best hotels in Yangon. Hotel is currently undergoing some upgrades. Hotel has a few restaurants, Italian, Chinese, and a Bar. This hotel is located a few miles outside of the city which is good as the city is currently very congested. 5-10 mins to the city by car. Most places to eat and see are outside of Yangon city so this is a great hotel.

We always enjoy any opportunity to stay at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Yangon. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The staff are pleasant, helpful and efficient, and the morning breakfast buffet is massive and delicious. Also the location in downtown in Yangon means that many sites and shopping outlets are within walking distance.

Having stayed in several Yangon Hotels previously, it was great to find this one. Internet works and is an OK speed. No power failures at all (not even 1!) The staff were the usual Myanmar friendly and helpful, (except the girl on the tours desk, a bit aggressive). The business services area, is functional, and everything works!! (if this is your first trip here, working printers, scanners , fax is a big deal). Food and services are on the expensive side compared to other Yangon hotels, but its still mighty cheap compared to Australia. Breakfast was also great, things are cooked fresh as required, and not a mountain of things pre done. Room was spacious, clean, and well kept, The air conditioner runs 24/7 (nice walking in after being out for any length of time) The safe is secured (odd that most hotels have a safe and its not anchored to anything!) I felt safe, and that my gear was secure (Refer to a previous post for a different Yangon hotel for context) I really liked this hotel, and will stay here again.

From the moment i drove into the hotel the feeling was completely different to other Yangon hotels & even hotels in developed countries. The space, tranquility, hotel layout (beside the largest lake in Yangon) & service, deserved special mention. Large impressive lobby. Room facing the largest lake in Yangon, clean, orderly, strong wifi ...... just nice for business traveller. Breakfast was adequate, staff very helpful, fully equip gym, indoor & outdoor pool, Korean & Chinese restaurant but the bar at the top floor need more life. Thoroughly enjoyed by 2 night stay & will definitely come back.

The Rose Garden Hotel is conveniently located within walking distance to several sights, such as the Shwedagon Pagoda, the Kandawgyi Lake, the main railway station and downtown Yangon. My room was nicely aquatinted featuring traditional Burmese culture and styles and it had all amenities one could expect from a five star hotel. I particularly liked the small bouquet of fresh flowers. Another thing I like is the emphasis on environmental matters like shampoo or body lotion in elegant dispensers or city maps on recycled paper. Myanmar needs much more of that! It was nice to have a balcony, though the mosquitos that appear in the darkness can be annoying. The public areas of the hotel were also great so that I always enjoyed walking in and through the main hall. There is also a very nice scent in the public areas. WiFi is free and has always worked well. There is also a pool, but I didn’t use it. The staff was always friendly, polite, professional and helpful. They are all doing a great job. Joining the breakfast buffet is a good decision given the wide choice of warm and cold food as well as freshly prepared egg dishes and noodles. When coming back to Yangon, this hotel would surely be my first choice and I can only recommend it to other travellers.

the park royal was the ideal place to stay in yangon. hotels in yangon are extremely packed these days, and i had to move to another hotel after three days. the differences were stark. park royal was much better, as you can tell that the staff have true training and orientation to the service industry. most of all, the helpful staff at park royal can really help if you are a first time traveler to yangon - helping you get around and even find other accommodation, if needed. i found the food at the restaurant to be pretty pricey and not too exciting. the japanese restaurant was also pricey, but really quite good. the location was great - right by the main market, and the rooms were very comfortable, with exceptionally comfortable beds. the bathrooms could use a bit of updating, but they were completely fine, as well.

I love this hotel. I have stayed in many Yangon hotels, but this one really has character and so do the staff. Everyone I interacted with was exceptionally pleasant and helpful including the house keeping, the chef, the restaurant and bar staff and reception. It will definitely be my preferred Yangon hotel in future . Thank you

Enjoyed the meals taken at night they were reasonably priced and the set Chinese Meal I would definitely recommend. The Chefs maintained a constant visual presence, especially when their International Buffet was served at week ends, and also during Breakfast. The room was very comfortable, and rooms could be requested facing the famous Sharaweddogon Pagoda. A sunset can be enjoyed on the rooftop where there is a bar. Mosquitos did not appear to be a problem in the vicinity. Taxi to the center of Yangon was 2,000chat, although I found that I kept being asked for more at times and had to negotiate. Taxi to the Airport if ordered from the Bellboy is also considerably cheaper than booking through the Hotels Reception. Praise must be given to the Travel Agent, which is situated amongst the shops in the Hotel for his friendliness and his rate of exchange. Upon leaving Yangon and exploring the country, the rate given is considerably less, it is best to stock in piles of Chat, to take with you. The Travel Agent will change these back into dollars if not used. American Dollars are the only accepted currency, crisp and new ones. There are no A.T.M s inBurma!Credit Cards are also not accepted. All in all a pleasant stay and I was sorry to leave after visiting the excellent Swimming Pool situated at the rear of the Hotel

Loved our stay at the Melia Yangon, hotel entry was so grand and beautiful centre piece hanging from the ceiling, staff very professional and polite, our room on the 22d floor was very spacious with beautiful windows and views, bed was massive and very comfortable, breakfast was amazing with so many choices of tasty food. Hotel is across the road from Inya Lake where you can have morning and evening walks, next door to the hotel is the Myanmar Plaza shopping centre, with a food court/restaurants on the top floor. Distance to the city centre depends on the traffic but it's not that far. Would definitely stay at the Melia Yangon again.

We stayed in City Star during the Thingyan Water Festival in Yangon and it was an unforgettable experience! What we like about the hotel is its very strategic location in downtown with many tourist spots in walking distance. The staff are very friendly and accommodating especially Mr. James who helped us in many ways during our stay in Yangon. The food taste very good and inexpensive for a hotel restaurant although there are limited choices in their buffet. The room that we had was spacious, clean and with very strong water supply. I will choose this hotel again should I visit Yangon in the future and I will highly recommend it to my friends and acquaintances who will visit Yangon as well.

Very good service. Def one of the best, if not the best, hotel in Yangon. Very clam and relaxing. Staffs are friendly and well trained. Good breakfast. the room was great, the TV is a little outdated, but I guess it is decent enough.

Even though pretty much almost all the hotels are overpriced in Yangon, Clover brand rips you off the least compared to the other hotels in Yangon. The Clover Plus is the newest addition to the Clover brand, so everything is nice and brand new. They even have key cards for room access instead of actual keys. I haven't seen other hotels in Yangon with this old technology. The room is reasonably sized and comfortable. The design is no-frill and modern. Nice flat screen and reliable wifi (as fast as it could be in Myanmar). The staff are very friendly. Things that the hotel should fix: 1. The shower area is not separated. So when you shower, the whole floor gets wet. It would be nice if they just build a little barrier and put up a shower curtain. 2. The taxis that the hotel staff hailed for us are overpriced. These are the taxis parked outside the hotel probably just waiting for tourists staying here. And it seems that the hotel staff know the drivers. Having been to Yangon every month this year, I know how much taxi fare should be. These taxis charged about double of what the fare should be and I called them out on it. Yet the hotel staff themselves were saying that this was reasonable fare when they should be protecting guests' interest. In any case, you will be better off walking a minute to the main street and get a cab yourself. I hope the hotel management fixes this. It's a small thing that leaves a bitter feeling for guests when everything else is almost perfect.

Newly opened in the second half of 2018. Rooms were big (about 60sqm for the standard room) and it was thoughtfully designed with the traveler in mind. The bed was large and super comfortable. Easily one of the best hotels in Yangon to date.

Its my first time coming to Yangon and I'm staying at the Premier Suite for 6 days. First day got greeted at the door by staff offering to carry my luggage, got complimentary orange juice upon check in too. Room is very spacious as expected with a very big terrace all for ourselves. Breakfast is one of the best I've had among all the hotels I've been to. Wifi connection is very fast for me at the penthouse, no idea how some people are complaining about it. Room service is fast when I need water or had problems connecting to the net. One night I had dinner at Dream Cafe and don't have enough money but the staff dealt with it professionally by allowing me to pay at a later time after visiting the moneychanger. One thing that really bothers me is that Dream Cafe is infested with mosquitoes and flies. I've been bitten like more than 10 times during my 30 mins dinner there. Facilities wise theres a very big gym. Will be nice if there's a massage service. It's easy to take taxi outside the hotel for only 2k kyats almost anywhere. Overall I really love this hotel a lot. Value for money. Will be staying here the next time I visit Yangon.

This is a relatively new place which means cleans which means I loved it. They had a specialty cocktail. I think its an orange mojito. It was AMAZING. The breakfast buffet wasnt elaborate but what they did have was quality. The hotel is easy to find but not too close to any shops or markets. Its stands out from the other places in Yangon b/c of its sleek modern design. I was impressed. I did have one thing that really bugged me and that was the knowledge of some of the staff about the hotel. I asked the night staff how much an international call would be and they told me hotel doesnt offer that and that Id have to buy a sim. and when I asked where I could stock up on water they said its about a 20min walk away. But the next day the daytime staff told me none of that was true. That makes me doubt the validity of information given to me by diffent staff.

It was very pleasant stay. Great location downtown close to most sight of Yangon, hotel was smack in Chinatown with market stalls around the corner-lots to see and buy. Of particular mention is the staff and service..... Of all the hotels I have visited (including world class 5 star hotels), this ranks as one of the best service I have ever experienced. From the check in staff, to the concierge, to the housekeeping staff, to the waiters at the lounge.... Every single one of them demonstrated exemplary service levels. An excellent choice for accommodation in Yangon. Highly recommended

Traders is a modern Western style hotel in the heart of Yangon. Its main selling point is central location within minutes of an easy walk to Sule Pagoda, City Hall or the market. Surrounding busy streets are teaming with life and provide great opportunities to observe and photograph street vendors, crowds of passersby or busy traffic. The hotel itself is a welcome oasis in the sea of dust, noise and heat of this exotic city. Inside décor and facilities are indistinguishable from those at other major chains such as Sheraton or Marriott. Our room was complete with good soundproof windows, working air conditioning, comfortable beds and a safe. There was some renovation going on around eighth or ninth floor only bothersome during a massage which is done in one of the rooms on the eighth floor. Breakfast buffet offered a good selection with emphasis on local Burmese but also Indian and Chinese items. All staff spoke good English and was very polite. There are other good and perhaps more stylish hotels in Yangon but many of them seem to be scattered further away from the center and require transportation for sightseeing.

The Holly Hotel was a full 5 stars for me. The staff was well prepared to handle a foreigner. Every staff member I spoke to could speak great English. They were super helpful, knowledgable and friendly. The room was very nice with comfortable beds, clean rooms, air conditioned and warm water in the bathroom. I ate dinner in the Thai restaurant downstairs and it was delicious. I only stayed one night so I cannot talk about the surroundings to the hotel. I simply took a taxi from the airport (about $4 for about a 10-15 minute taxi ride) stayed one night and then went back to the airport the next day. All it all, it was a wonderful hotel, a much needed rest and well worth the money. I'll be back on my next stay in Yangon.

Room has a little refrigerator including ice maker, hair drier, large TV, hot water despenser, hot shower. Breakfast was almost same everyday. Room was so clean than any same-rate hotels in Yangon. Hotel rate is getting high quickly in yangon. This inflated situation is not good for us, and for them. I wish the rate be going normal as other prices in Myanmar. Location is good so we can go anywhere easily. But area in front of hotel(next to Traders hotel) was under construction so 32 street was little dusty. Please take care of your throat when go out of hotel. The construction will be continued for a few months, maybe 1 year or more. Hotel was so good. I will stay here again.

We stayed at Hotel Accord for our last two nights in Yangon. The beds were super comfy, the staff very helpful and rooms very quiet at night despite being in the heart of a busy area. The location is great near Dagon Center 1&2 with a lot of street life and several restaurants right outside the front door. The Owner was often in the lobby helping guests and was very friendly and open to suggestions. The staff were all very helpful and spoke remarkably better English than at most other hotels. Overall the hotel was clean. Bathrooms are small and set up like most in Myanmar with the shower fitting out in the open instead of in an enclosure, but had a rain head and good water pressure. TV had English and other languages avaliable and the internet was good, with the fastest upload rate we tested in Myanmar and a very solid download rate. This hotel is much better than many in Yangon, even than some significantly more expensive properties. Breakfast was good and ample, however the problem common to Myanmar of keeping hot food hot was apparent here too. The staff did, however, constantly refill seving trays in the buffet which made it better. Our plans for a taxi to the airport fell through at the last minute, but the hotel owner quickly helped and arranged a faiy reasonably priced one. We will come back to this hotel.

That was my fourth time came back to this hotel. I usually email directly to the hotel for my bookings because they give special rates to the returning guests like me. But this time i booked through Agoda because of my very last minute plan to come Yangon. Hotel Yankin is good value for money and convenient for me to go around different parts of Yangon.

We were so please we chose the Novotel Max to stay at whilst in Yangon. From the moment we arrived the staff bent over backwards to please and help us. From moving us to a new room when we were worried it was too close to the pool, to always helping my wife with vegetarian selections in the restaurant, and helping arrange taxis and negotiate prices. Every staff member was exceptional - the best service we have had anywhere in the world. The facilities are top class. The buffet breakfast has the best selection of any hotel we have ever visited and the gym was world class. The rooms were spacious, the wifi very fast and the bed was huge and amazingly comfortable. Whilst obviously in the higher price range for Yangon - our stay was worth every dollar. Special mention to Business Manager Min Kaung San and Concierge Patrick for their amazing service and friendly demeanour at all times.

I been to Yangon many times and The Link is probably the best hotel in Yangon with the range of 50-100 USD. Hotel is new so all facilities are still in excellent condition, staffs were friendly and location is right in the city center. Only one issue is the selection of breakfast which is quite limited. Otherwise, this hotel is perfect stay in Yangon

After receiving a discount on the room rate through my rewards points, our room rate ended up being very reasonable, but even the standard rate is much lower than I was expecting for Yangon hotels. Having said that, maybe rates have finally started to fall as there is more competition and my stay having been during the low season, it's not like there were too many tourists and business travellers competing for rooms, unlike during the 2012-13 tourist rush to the country. Anyway, the room was fine, with a nice balcony but as the hotel was built in the 80s and not upgraded much since, a few minor things are showing their age, such as the toilet not flushing properly and the carpets and other furnishings being quite old. However, a new lift is currently under construction, which will replace the old one. The buffet breakfast, full of western, Indian and Chinese/Burmese style options was outstanding, far better than any buffet anywhere else in Myanmar. This is the standard for hotel breakfasts, with a cheese board and selected cold meats, corn flakes and even Swiss style muesli, seasonal tropical fruit, salads, bread, noodles, Burmese style breakfast soup (Mohinga), Indian flat breads with pea curry and many other options, just superb. The pool was nice and inviting and we had a quick swim before breakfast. The surrounding gardens and view onto Inya Lake also quite stunning. Service was fast and professional and was in line with expectations from a hotel of this calibre. Apart from some renovations needed to modernize the standard of the corridors and the rooms, the hotel is more of a 4.5 star standard than merely 4 star and definitely one of the top 10 hotels in the city.

Had a suite room. Very spacious and divided into bedroom and lounge area with Sony TV in each room. Hotel is old style but clean and comfortable with wonderful staff. Breakfast is basic but adequate. For me, having a large supermarket next door was a big plus. Plus good rate to change money at hotel. Transport from hotel to attractions like the Shwedagon pagoda was cheap. If you want a comfortable simple hotel in Yangon then this is it.

the best thing about this hotel is the central location. you can just walk around to see some major attractions of yangon. i'd say it has "traders location" without traders price tag. check-in and check-out was quick and easy. wifi worked. the room was clean and tidy. a bit small, but adequate for us. we didn't have breakfast as we were leaving very early, but a modest breakfast box was provided. if you are staying just one or two nights in yangon (and most do just that) i'd recommend that hotel as the prices for the best hotels in yangon doubled or even tippled in the last year or two.

Very good and clean new room with facilities. Serene place. Free breakfast. Nice and attentive staff. Near Shwedagon Pagoda. Competitive price. High standard compared with other hotels in Yangon at the same price range.
