One night in Marrakech.”
We stayed here on our last night in Morocco. We handed in our hire car and took a taxi to the hotel. The driver had great difficulty finding it! The riad is in the ancient part of the medina down a series of winding alleyways. You hesitate at your peril as Marrakech is full of young boys offering to 'help'(for a fee!).You do indeed see life as it really is for most of the population. However, if you are based here for longer than a couple of nights I think the continual trek backwards and forwards would become tiresome. Taxis would leave you at a nearby gateway into the medina but you would still have to walk after that. You might feel uneasy late at night. We feel that the riad is not suitable for young women on their own. Compared to all the other breakfasts we had on our trip, we found this one to be rather meagre. The rooms are very clean and beautifully decorated. There is not much privacy if you are on the ground floor as the rooms open onto the small courtyard. Once the first person is up in the morning then you are awake too as the sounds reverberate on the tiled floors. There had been a lot of wet weather in Morocco before we arrived and we found the riad damp. Generally we were satisfied with the riad for our one night but would not stay there again because of the location.
