Excellent”
We got a really good deal for a family bungalow. Brilliant location. Not the fanciest place but perfect to experience the desert. Rooms simple but very comfortable. Food good but not great. Easy to organise camel ride or dune bashing-you need to ask . Good space to walk around the camp and watch camels etc. We drove there in a 2 wheel drive-Nissan Kicks. Had to let the tyres down quite a bit as couldn’t get traction. But doable, needed to keep speed up. Overall a lovely , peaceful and magical stay.

Great spot! Few suggestions!”
We had a wonderful overnight stay at Sama al Wasil Desert camp. The facilities were great, wonderful food upon arrival and very friendly staff. Dinner was delicious and breakfast was fantastic. The only suggestion I have is for the camp to inform guests properly about the transportation cost. I was told via phone call that the cost of 30 OMR for transportation to the camp and back to Al Wasil could be charged to my credit card on file for our stay. The morning we left, they wanted cash for the transaction and said it could not be charged to my credit card. There was no atm except back in town, so it made it slightly stressful for checkout and traveling day ahead. Everything else was wonderful; I just suggest informing the guests of the price of transportation costs into the desert before arrival so they can withdraw cash if necessary!

Bad communications”
I had booked ready to stay on the 30 May I repeatedly asked where the Al Maha petrol station where we pick up our transport to the desert We had not realised that the transport we booked with the hotel is only half an hours journey in the desert This was not made clear We had the impression we will be picked up at the petrol station in MusCAT as the fare is not cheap and reasonable for a 2 hour journey Because of the bad communications and no attachment sent of the al maha google mapsite, we assumed wrongly it was a pick up in muscat When we eventually rung the desert hotel,we were told that we have to make our own way to that petrol station in the village/town 2 hours away The taxi was to cost us 90 rials each way £200 and 90 rials back to muscat The whole journey would cost more than 4 times our hotel cost This information is not readily available to us We were so disappointed with the costs that we didn’t turn up as the trip wasn’t worth it

Beautifull resort. Free coffee, tea, oranges. Good diner and breakfast. We arranged a pick up by the resorts 4x4 from the gasstation. It drove us with 90 km/h in 10 minutes to the resort...costs 30 rial (including return). Our SUV could have done the job, even a 2 wheel drive car would have had no problems, the sandy track was hard enough.

Horrific tourist trap and scam”
Our experience has been just terrible, and we were meant to be there on my birthday night. Problem was, there was no possibility to reach that place at all! It wasn’t clear at all during the booking process that the place was not accessible with a normal vehicle. In front of the road, we called the hotel that told us we had to pay 30 rials (£60) to get picked up from the road to the hotel. We couldn’t be more disappointed, our prepaid room was almost the same price as the transfer! Evidently, no mention of transfer prices was ever made before that phone call. We have saved all year to make a nice road trip in Oman and were on a strict budget. If you think of this place for your holidays, remember to take extra cash because they’ll try to scam you in every way possible. Very disappointing Oman experience after having seen something very different on their hospitality and honesty before. Evidently, the hotel refused to refund our night, just to give you the global spirit there

Graet place ”
Great experience in the desert, clean well orgainzed camp, I reccommend to stay here. Welcoming staff, many facilities, Omani Coffe and dates availbles for guests in the main terrace. They managed to effectively create the athmosphere of a desert camp but with the facility of a hotel. Good position, easy to reach with a jeep 4x4, but effectively in the desert, ( 15 min drive from the main road) . possibility to book activities. Well cleaned according to the italian standards.

great experience. super friendly and helpful staff.”
stayed here for one night and it was great. we loved everything about it, except that it was a good bit bigger than we expected. it just didn't feel as authentic as we would have liked. having said that, it was absolutely worth it! check in is easy, our tent was much nicer than expected. had our own bathroom, AC etc. dinner is served in a big tent, buffet style with a huge variety of foods. same as breakfast, big buffet. staff is very helpful, but never bothering you or trying to sell you any of their outdoor activities. they just help and that's all, which is awesome. it's fairly easy to find. there's a decent amount of signs from downtoan wasil. and since it's a bigger camp, there's always other cars around, so you don't feel like you're in the middle of nowhere. having said that, i'd make sure you get there before it gets dark.

Lovely desert camp”
We have stayed at a few different desert camps in Oman and we were happy with this one. It was not as luxurious as Desert Nights Camp but it felt more authentic. It doesn't have a pool like 1000 nights, but the pool is too cold anyway so we felt that this was better value for us. We thought it was well set up. The tents were lovely and we also had a family room, but they were really 2 separate rooms in one hut, not ideal for a young family as no connecting door. The rope to help you climb the dunes is helpful. It is right next to dunes which was crucial for us, we looked at another option which was closer to Sur and not actually in the dunes which sort of defeats the point of staying in the desert. Food was adequate, lots of veg options and nice to have option of tasting camel meat. Fire pit was nice under the stars and great playground for kids. Only criticism is our Agoda bookings did not have our name or any of our requests etc, so when we arrived, despite having paid in full they weren't sure of our accommodation. Confusion may have been due to having booked multiple rooms, but agoda really should have passed details on to avoid check in confusion. Not a great start.

Great stay”
Nice desert camp, easy access to dunes and even has a rope to help you climb up. Desert was amazing. Rooms and tents were both quite nice (we had a family room and a tent). Air conditioned and decent hot water showers. Family rooms were two rooms in same hut, not ideal with young children. We would have much preferred a connecting door. Dinner was pretty good with BBQ chicken and BBQ camel and lots of vegetarian options. Water, soft drink and basic tea and coffee were included and generously distributed. Dessert had numerous choices and breakfast was adequate. Great play ground. Main negative was that they couldn't find out booking when we arrived and as it was fully booked this made us nervous. They had some Agoda bookings without names (& obviously no special request or any other detail) which was a poor welcome. Luckily all was sorted out and things got better from there. Lack of quad bikes was also disappointing. We had a great time and would stay again.

Beautiful location and wonderful staff”
After an uncomfortable wait for the transfer to the resort from the filling station, we arrived at the camp around sunset and the setting was beautiful. We stayed in the fancy tents which were basic in terms of facilities but beautifully decorated and atmospheric. The whole site is nicely laid out and they have a range of activities available for guests though I do think they could provide a few more within the site itself. The food and staff were very friendly, accommodating and warm. The setting and kindness of the staff would make me wants to return!
