The kids enjoyed the recreation room very much! The facilities are amazing! Views are worth the cost of the rooms (which is on the pricey side). Staff is very well-trained in such a way that they value the rules and regulations more than accommodating the guests.

Relaxing holiday at Silks Place Taroko”
Beautiful scenery, very nice hotel with a lot of activities and nice weather. The only worry is the risk of typhoon which might cause road closure. If there is road closure, either not possible to get into or get out of the hotel to proceed the journey as planned.

Not really a luxury experience”
Overall I wouldn't recommend it. It's all right, and the staff are nice enough, but the negatives outweigh the positives, especially at the price. The rooms are nothing special, the place is not terribly well designed, the restaurant food/ breakfast is bland. If you are going to Taroko and want to stay in the park, it's probably your best bet, but if you are looking for somewhere really nice, or expecting somewhere really nice for this kind of money, then skip.

A quiet , perfect retreat away from it all”
The gorge beside it and the National Park Silk Place is situated in makes this hotel a perfect getaway. It was a very pleasant 2.5 hr journey from Taipei by train and the hotel shuttle bus driver met us at Hualien train station. The bus ride to Silk place was also a pleasant 1 hr ride through the National Park. Dinner was available at a reasonable price at both the Chinese and western restaurant. Buffet breakfast was also just as delicious. There are a few trails near the hotel, Long ones and shorter ones. We took a half day tour from Silk Place and enjoyed it. The outdoor swimming pool on the roof terrace is set in a most beautiful setting with the hills around and the gorge coursing down below.

Wonderful Experience”
We had a wonderful stay. Our room was upgraded to a gorge view. The staff was excellent across the board. The food was fresh, especially at breakfast. Wellesley was very good! The Chinese food was rather tasteless. The vans used for tours were well equipped with seat belts and comfortable, but there was a mildew smell by the windows.

Luxury in the wilderness”
Silks Place offers some truly luxurious rooms, like the Garden Suite we booked, which had possibly the hugest bathroom I've ever seen, a large balcony and a huge amount of space to sprawl. Staff were courteous and kind, and I love the fact that they allow you to use the facilities (including rooftop pool, hot tubs and changing facilities / showers) up until 3pm the day you depart, even after checkout, which is great if you want to do a few hikes then swim and shower before hitting the road. For the most part the look and feel of the resort is lovely, with a zen-like minimalism prevailing (eg the lobby, which is gorgeous) but in places it feels a bit spartan, like the corridors to the rooms which desperately needed some art or a few design details to give it a bit of personality. We enjoyed a pleasant dinner in the Chinese restaurant, though felt a bit rushed to order and eat quickly due to closing early. But breakfast (which we took in the lounge) was stellar, with lovely service.

The best choice to visit Taroko park ”
It is located in the center of Taroko, exactly what we expected to enjoy the incredible gorge .Great and friendly service with the fine breakfast. In addition to the outdoor speactlar swimming pool, it offers different tours to join or just simply walking up to Buiyoung trails within 20mins. We had a fantastic time to stay, would definitely love to come back.

I gave 3 stars for employees only because of the playroom staff. We were not allowed to play Xbox because we were not wearing socks ?! Later we saw others also in sandals playing with no problem. Why provide sandals when we will be embarrassed for wearing them on the grounds. The rules only state shoes must not be worn in the play areas. Nothing about socks anywhere.

We had a great stay at Silks place and would recommend this hotel to our friends. The spa was very good. I would say that the tax added on to the cost of other activities e.g tours, drinks, spa etc should be stated somewhere as that was unexpected for what is already an expensive hotel. The staff really were great, especially Jerry for myself.

Location, location, location”
Incredible location with stunning views in every direction. Checking in was a breeze, and the staff were attentive, helpful, and friendly throughout our stay. In fact, we didn’t tell anyone that it was my birthday and they brought a personalized cake to our table at dinner. Classy. The rooftop is the star of the show with spectacular views, comfy lounge spaces, infinity pool, and several hot tubs. However, if you’re traveling with young children, like we were, you may hardly get a chance to see the rooftop because they have the best kids club around. There are so many toys, games, and other things for kids to do that they’ll never want to leave. Now the not so great. The room was basic and, to be honest, the beds were rickety and more along the lines of something I would expect to find at a hostel. Silks is fairly expensive and the property is showing it’s age in many places, but the positives far outweigh the negatives and I would recommend you give it a shot.

Location and Quality is good, Service can be improved”
You're paying for the location as there are no other high standard hotels within Taroko Park proper. Rooftop views are lovely and the hot tubs are very hot (in a good way). The hotel clientele is mostly Taiwanese and Chinese so our biggest disappointment is that when we asked for a trekking guide to take us through difficult trails, we ended up with a tour guide who took us in a Lexus to the same sites as the big tour busses, and he was not fit enough to go on even short trails with us. Our guide was a lovely professional man with lots of knowledge, but not what we were looking for, so if you are booking a proper trekking guide, make sure you are 100% clear in your communication on what you are looking for. The next day we did the Lushui Wenshan Trail on our own which was great - about 4 hours of steep climbs up and down and requiring holding onto ropes/chains at times which made it interesting.

Complete our holiday in Taroko”
Starting from Taipei main station we took fast train to Hualien, Taroko mountains leg, from Hualien we hires minivan for 5 person to Taroko Gorge especially to our hotel Silks Place. Driver stop for us to take some photos at view gorgeous spots. By train to Hualien is take 2.5 hours from Taipei main station, and 1 hour from Hualien up to Taroko Gorge Silks Place. From outside Silks Place Hotel look very simple and small, but we're impressed, inside look elegant and wellness. Lobby lots of comfortable cushion for guests, birds singing welcoming us plus ginger welcome drinks complete our journey today. We arrived at 2pm and reception process our check in, Mr. Conan is very well on his job, we were placed in the mountains views room with balcony at second floor. Stunning. The room is quite big about 40m2, with bath room about 3x2m, ours bathroom has one small bath tub and rain showers, separate toilet in between of dry make up room. Hanging closed and safety box in the bedroom.

This place is relaxing and wonderful. You can't beat the outdoor pull area staring at a wall made of marble - we saw some monkeys swinging in trees, actually! I was surprised that the food was just okay given how good the good is in Taiwan in general. If you're vegan the breakfast is very accommodating, but the all you can eat dinner was surprisingly limited! Fortunately there's a restaurant right outside the hotel that has complete vegetarian menu on request.

Beautiful Taroko Gorge location”
Being a resort hotel, it has many activities in addition to a great rooftop pool, hot tubs and a tennis court. I saw there were activities for kids and a spa for the adults. In the evening there was an aboriginal performance and a movie. My room was a good size with a nice view of the river. Like most Taiwan hotels there are different room sizes. When you book just specify what you want. The mini-fridge had a couple of free items in it including a facial mask and there were some snacks. Nice little details. The room is somewhat dated, but still shows nice. I had wished the bathroom would have contained some marble from the area, but instead had a pinkish color tile. I arrived early and my room was not ready so they took my bag. It would have been nice to wait in a lounge and have a drink, but I did not find one. So I got my Taiwan beer at the stall across the parking lot then climbed to the Tianfeng pagoda and found some other trails (uphill). I left reception my email and they emailed me when my room was ready. I purchased the “Western” dinner package which was a very abundant buffet consisting of many stations which I thought was reasonable for NT$880 including service fee. There is a Chinese dinner available which looks to be off a menu. Breakfast was also a buffet with many stations. How to get there? If you don’t have a car, there are many other ways to get there. The Hotel has a shuttle (fee) from Hualien. Call first to make reservations. I took a train down from Yilan to the Xincheng station and then a local bus to Tianxiang. The Taiwan Tourist shuttle bus also goes to Tianxiang from the Xincheng station.

Best choice in Taroko for kids!”
We enjoyed our stay here so much. The service is top notch and the facilities available was awesome! If you are bringing kids, the hotel has you covered! Cribs, bath tub, toothbrush (with welcome balloons), bath robe and slippers for the little ones. We also needed more water so they gave us more bottled waters. Bath salt next to your bath tub, welcome treats, and facial masks (good quality) for the adults. The rooftop pool has a magnificent view! We went at night time and daytime, both provide very different sceneries. Hot tubs are also available on the roof. Kids could also have a blast in the Kids Club in B1 where there are so many things to keep your rugrats occupied! The location is nice because we were able to do all the sightseeing during the day on our way to the hotel, check in, then squeeze in more afterwards. After check out the next day, we did more sightseeing on our way out of the Taroko Park.
