St. James Hotel, BKK: Blissful Serenity”
The St. James Hotel Bangkok is superb. The staff and environment are excellent. The rooms are fastidiously clean, the layout and size perfect. The location of the St. James is on a small tree lined boulevard, quiet and somewhat stately, the BTS SkyTrain, is not too close, and not too far, approximately five minutes away. The check-in was fast and flawless. I was overly exhausted when I approached the front desk, they had me in my room within moments of arrival. The bell staff were friendly, professional and serious about their task at hand. The rooms are very clean and nicely laid out. Wireless Internet available at a fee, and it is good and fast. The Sony 32" LCD TV is a nice addition, the air conditioning was whisper quiet and maintained perfect temperature throughout my stay. The maid service was extremely efficient and helpful. I needed more towels, I called, and surprisingly, they provided them within one minute. The beds are comfortable and a little prone to the desire to simply sleep in. The room I had faced a very quiet private residence next door, overlooking beautiful gardens and a small fountain. The buffet breakfast was very comprehensive and excellent. Eggs cooked to order, pancakes, French toast to order as well. Ham, bacon, and many many breads and pastries. Salads, smoked meats and sliced cheeses. A good selection of hot & cold cereals were available, and yogurt cups on ice. The Japanese, Chinese, and Thai dishes were very popular and delicious. The fresh coffee is better than Starbucks and multiple choices of juice and local fruit are plentiful as well. The staff at the St. James really makes you feel special, and without hesitation I can say that they very well may be the best in Bangkok at what they do. The St. James is a true find. Not many like this... anywhere.

St James”
We stayed at St James for the weekend. The first thing of note was the excellent location just off Sukhumvit very near the BTS station. As we travelled there by car on a Friday at rush hour, with the hotel being in such as busy area it did mean we had to sit in traffic for a while, but this was completely to be expected. There is parking right at the front of the hotel and the staff were very attentive in helping with our bags. The hotel lobby was impressive and we were checked in very easily. We paid the small amount extra and stayed in a deluxe room. A nice size with a flat screen TV, free wifi, big bed. Bathroom had a bath and good shower, hair-dryer. I was very impressed with the hotel, you could tell it was part of the Amari group. The location of the hotel is excellent, 4-5 min walk to the BTS from here you can be at Siam in 15 mins. A short walk to Emporium shopping centre, here a great range of shops. Also a short walk to some good bars and pubs such as The Robin Hood, Dubliner and Londoner. On the Saturday we spent some time relaxing by the pool, there are a few sun loungers, although the pool is not huge, again, for the price it was fine. Overall, for the price, St. James must be the best value hotel in Bangkok, considering the room facilities and location

Thumbs up for St James Hotel, Bangkok”
My family of 6 (4 teenagers & 2 adults) had a very pleasant stay at St James Hotel recently (Nov 26-28th.)We have a good surprise as they upgraded one of the 2 rooms that we booked to a junior service suite which made our stay so much more comfortable as the room was so much more spacious than the standard room. They even accommodate our request for a connecting room despite the hotel being fully booked at that time. Excellent customer service from the marketing unit, reception, bellboy to the waiters. The bellboy helped us to inform the taxi drivers a specific drop off point at the airport and even wrote down the taxi registration nos. for my retention as we were traveling in 2 taxis to the airport and my husband did not have his mobile phone with him, so it may not be possible for us to contact each other. Overall, we would highly recommend anyone to stay at St James Hotel based on its marvellous customer service and easy accessibility to many locations in Bangkok. Thank you very much, staff of St James Hotel, Bangkok.

A gem of a hotel”
What a find! I'm very familiar with Bangkok (having lived there before) and usually stay in a different area for business reasons. This time, I needed a place for a quick one day/one overnight stay, and took a chance on the St. James. I was very pleased with my stay...it was too brief! From check-in to holding onto my valuables for a few hours even after I checked out, the staff was extremely helpful, and there are staff members that speak English well. The hotel is only about 5-8 minutes' walk from the Skytrain (my lifeline for transportation in Bangkok traffic gridlock). The room, though not large, was adequately sized to accommodate a king bed. It has a wood floor (which I prefer over carpet due to allergies) and was sufficiently furnished to be comfortable, including a minibar fridge. The bathroom was not large but adequate, and had good water pressure. Everything was very clean. I'll definitely be reserving again for future visits to Bangkok. To really move up in luxury and amenities in a hotel, you've probably got to spend double the price of the St. James. This little hotel is great value for money.

St. James Hotel : Excellent accomodation”
Located on quiet, leafy 18 Soi Sukhumvit 26, St. James Hotel provides the best value for money in an expensive vicinity. The elegant hotel lobby gives a preview of how remarkable the rest of the hotel is designed. The swimming pool is big enough for several laps and accessible through an outdoor staircase, giving you a comfortable warm-up by the time you reach the pool! The room is clean and spacious enough for a couple. The fittings are modern, and I particularly like how the shoe rack is elevated from the floor for easy reach. I also like the tiny anti-theft signs inside the room that politely advise the guest that bathrobes and towels are available at cost. The front desk staff speaks fluent English, and the concierge is polite and attendant. Outside the hotel is a food stall that serves fabulous noodles; if you prefer Japanese food, there are three places to choose from down the street; and if you really want a proper restaurant, a fabulous food court beckons from the glitzy Emporium mall within walking distance away. The Phrom Phong skytrain station sits just near the corner of 18 Soi and Sukhumvit Road to take you up up and away.

Sanctuary in Sukhumvit”
I found the St James to be a modern, well-equipped hotel offering value to both business-people and tourists equally. I was charmed by the timber flooring in the room and the large LCD TV was worth the bit extra on the room-rate. Lounging in bed and watching TV is a particularly valuable luxury for me when I travel. I found the staff to be friendly, if sometimes a little curt which I put down to language barriers (I don't speak Thai!). The breakfast is only buffet (no a la carte) and at almost THB600 I found it to be most expensive. I also found the Wifi charges to be quite expensive. However with Sukhumvit Rd nearby and a lot of cafes within walking distance (there is also a BTS stop within a 5 minute walk), there are many options. In summary I would recommend the St James to business and tourists alike, a lovely hotel and well situated.

Quiet and Well Located”
This is my 6th stay at the St. James (and hence my 6th review). All the stays have been the same, and that is not a bad thing! I have had a great time every time. After reading some of the other reviews I thought I would comment on some of the "negatives" that have been brought up. Though the rooms may be small by western standards I thought they were perfectly acceptable for anywhere in Asia. I did not find the street noise bothersome at all, again probably because I have encountered much worse in other parts of Bangkok. One thing I can agree could and should be changed is the internet fee. I'd love to see the St. James offer free internet. Check the other reviews, I haven't read of one really bad one.

Great stay at St James with 2 families and 4 rooms”
We were 2 families with teens, having 4 deluxe rooms, staying 3 nights with late checkout at 6 pm. We had a great stay. Hotel approx a 5 min walk from BTS Phron Phom station. Nice and clean rooms with DVD and flat screen TV. Security both at parking and hotel entrance. 24h staff at front desk with room service if needed. Building were beeing painted during our visit causing pool to be closed for security reasons. Since pool is almost a neccessity for us europeans not used to the heat, desk manager set us up with pool tickets to the Tara hotel next door. This without any discussions or arguments, they just fixed it. Nice ABF breakfast + also japanese style for those wanting that. Great coffe aswell. Herbal fruit tea and wet towel during check-in procedure for refreshing after travel. 2 bottles of water per day included. Minibar fridge with freeze compartment. Please note that pool is on ground level between buildings. This means that pool fairly small and in shade large parts of the day, good for cooling down, but not for tanning all day. The hotel restaurant Cafe 26 is expensive compared to Thai levels, but quality is nice. very helpful staff, especially bell staff, security and waiters. Can definitely recommend St James. Very likely to stay there when visiting Bangkok again.

A wonderful place to stay in Bangkok”
I have now stayed in the St. James three times. It is my Bangkok "hotel of choice". The lack of overwhelming Thai kitsch and the understated "Japanese" nature of the decor make this hotel a perfect place to stay in Bangkok. It is an easy to walk from Sukhumvit Road, one of Bangkok's few main arteries, where the elevated transit trains run. It is quiet; many rooms look out over a palatial Bangkok residential compound with its trees and lawn; I have never felt intrusion by staff or attendants. This has become my hotel to go in Bangkok. I recommend it for honeymooners, business people, tourists who want a less hectic approach to a complicated city and country.

Very reasonable, very comfrotable”
I spent a few days over the end of the year and the new year days at the St. James Hotel. I chose it mainly for its reasonable price (I did not want to spend a lot as I was alone, not with my family) and the location. Its location is perfect, as it is just a few minutes'walk to the BTS station, to Emporium shopping centre, and a number of shops and restaurants. As a Japanese, it was particularly convenient to have a number of inexpensive and good quality Japanese restaurants around there! The hotel is very pleasant and the staff nice. The room is quite large (I stayed at a deluxe room) and clean. There is a small but pleasant swimming pool - there was nobody else than myself using it when I went there and I had one very relaxing afternoon there. It would be perfect it there would be a free internet access...!

A Pleasant Stay”
Me and my boyfriend have a pleasant stay at St James Hotel. The hotel is decorated with modern style and the room is clean as well as equitable. We were surprised with the breakfast for the price we paid. It was definitely a good value for money. The strategic location is a good choice for self traveller as it only takes 5 minutes to walk from the hotel to nearest BTS station, Phrom Phong station. I will choose this hotel again during my next visit to Bangkok.

My favorite hotel in Sukhumvit”
There are a lot of well reviewed and situated hotels in the area around the Emporium but for whatever reason these hotels always seem to be booked up for the dates I need. The St. James however always seems to be available and reasonably priced! I've stayed at the St. James many times (and Agoda keeps asking me for reviews) and I've had no complaints. A new building with well appointed rooms just 2 blocks from the Skytrain and the Emporium.

a must stay at hotel !!!”
ok well we were booked in for one night to start with, but we enjoy this hotel so much we used agoda to extend stay for a 2nd night - hence 2 reviews in 2 days !!! buffet breakfast is excellent - one of the things we really look forwards to when staying at the st. james hotel. service is great from the moment the taxi gets to the front door until you leave in taxi again at end of stay. we will most definately use this hotel once again when we are back in thaialnd. ... enjoy your stay at the st james ......

Stay at St James”
Overall i had a very pleasant stay at St James hotel. The cold towel and jasmine tea being served while checking in was a nice gesture. Location wise it is excellent, accessible to the nearest BTS station which is convenient for getting around. I liked the room for the fact that it had a huge bed and extra pillows. The only negative part was that the room walls were a bit thin and you could hear what's going on in the neighbouring room. Overall two thumbs up to the management and staff of St James hotel. Keep up the good work!

Lovely Hotel !”
I've stayed at St James Hotel with my fellow friends many a times and the Hotel is nice, cosy, clean & definitely value for money. The Hotel is located just approximately 15 mins casual walk from the Phrom Phang BTS which is located next to the Emporium Shopping Centre. The Hotel is fronting the road Sukhumvit 26 and the hotel is nearby plenty of food outlets (both locals, Japanese, etc.) and plenty of R&R centres. The deluxe rooms have a view, they are clean with a comfortable king-size bed, free wifi though the signal is bit slow, flat TV, mini bar fridge. Restaurant serves breakfast which is also nice.

St. James is an excellent place to stay!”
I highly recommend staying at the St. James hotel in Sukhumvit. For the location, service, and cleanliness of the hotel it is a great deal. It is just a short walking distance to the sky train and there are plenty of restaurants, massage houses, and bars in the neighborhood. I loved that the door was always opened for us- very nice gesture!

Small well located Gem in a quiet Soi an easy walk”
This was a return stay at the well located St. James Hotel. While no longer an Amari managed property, the front desk staff and room cleaning staff all seem from the previous management. Agoda offered the lowest price and the booking went well for the most part. The hotel placed me in a very quiet non smoking room as per my request. With 2 wake up calls each day I never missed an appointment. Breakfast is an excellent value with cook to order egg dishes. This hotel is small enough that the staff will remember your name.

Great location, friendly efficient service”
i have stayed regularly at the st james over the past 8 years and found it consistently good value for money, although i do think it is worth upgrading to a deluxe room to get an outlook rather than just the parking building next door. service is professional, helpful and efficient but friendly at the same time. on this most recent trip i appreciated excellent wifi access from my room (for an hourly fee but longer paid option periods were available) and also the reception desk confirming my onward flights. rooms very clean and well appointed, if reasonably basic. i really like the location, as being able to walk to the sky train, the emporium mall and other smaller shops and restaurants is well worthwhile. whilst not glitzy, i find this hotel good value for money, including the small but pleasant pool area. i will continue to use it when visiting bangkok.

A rare nice hotel in central BKK at an affordable price”
If there's anything special about the St. James Hotel in Bangkok, it's that it is a well-located, well-maintained, CLEAN hotel in the heart of the city for a reasonably affordable price. Too often in BKK, anything affordable is grungy or dingy or remote. And anything nice is expensive, and then sometimes not even nice. The St. James fits the bill on both counts, affordable and nice. Comfortable, clean beds, clean and well-maintained bathrooms, helpful staff, restaurant and swimming pool on-site. Even if they don't exceed expectations, they certainly meet them. And all for about $50 U.S. for their regular (superior) room including taxes. Also, location is about an easy 5 minute walk to the Phrom Phong BTS Station on the Sukhumvit Line and the EmQuartier and Emporium shopping malls.

Ilo”
We stayed at the St James for 3 nights and moved to Chiang Mai and Phuket for the rest of our holiday. The hotel is small but nice; it's situated out of the main road, so you can get a good sleep. The staff was very helpful. In this area you can find lots of restaurants, especially one called KOPITIAM - tern left from the hotel and walk 3 minutes (4/1 Soi Aree Sukhumvit Soi 26). The food was cheep and fantastic!!! If you want to get a proper, very good massage there is a good place on the same street. When you come out of the KOPITIAM restaurant, tern right- it is the first massage place after the Japanese restaurant. The girls are really nice, funny and extremely professional. We had lots of massages in Thailand but this place was the best!!!
