Paradise on earth!!!!”
When we arrived to Sugar beach resort we fell in love with it immediately!!!We had a very warm welcome from all the staff of the resort and all our wishes were not a problem to them. The rooms are nice and cozy, with air conditioning!i have to say I was surprised by our cleaning lady, she was leaving flowers for us every morning and was very useful in giving tips about excursions and where to go in Mauritius. And the beach....Oh my God!!!! We just love the place!!!
We were very impressed with this resort. Its location right on the beach was fabulous. Although major renovations were taking place, this did not affect us one little bit. In fact the extremely friendly staff went out of their way to make us welcome. On arrival we were upgraded to a Seaview rom in the Manor House with full board. All the staff we were in contact with were extremely pleasant and treated us like someone really special. On our last night we went to Citronella Restaurant expecting to have to pay as our Luxury Escape package had ended but instead we were treated to a three course lobster and champagne dinner on the beach and treated like royalty by Radja. Nothing was ever any trouble. I would highly recommend this resort and will definitely return when all the renovations are finished as the end product will be amazing. So thank you Sugar Beach Resort for our wonderful stay with you.
Every morning, it's like waking up to a dream ”
All is perfect, the establishment, the stunning views of the beach and sunset, the transparent water. We had a beach access room, it was like waking up to a dream. The food is amazing, every day there a theme so that the food is never the same. The restaurants a la carte were really good as well. We really enjoyed Paul et Virginie. Sugar Beach resort and Spa is highly recommended.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Sugar Beach Resort. The buffet had so many delicious options and we particularly enjoyed our day spa experience. The staff were so friendly and accommodating to our needs and we loved the direct access to the beach from our villa.
Our stay was fantastic from the minute we've arrived. The staff is amazing, always with a smile and ready to help at any moment. The breakfast buffet had a vast variety of different food options, all of which were delicious. The best thing for us was the availability of activities - you can kayak, snorkel or take a paddle board any time you wish! The rooms were well equipped with everything. The bed was firm enough, soft pillows and big beach towels to use every day. The gym is great as well with classes available. You will need a car to drive to restaurants - there are some in the vicinity of the resort but rather get a car. We'll be back!!!
Perfect holiday destination, value for money”
The staff and hospitality was great, my family and I have always chosen sugar beach as the holiday resort of choice, and there is absolutely no reason for us to reconsider. Our experiences at the resort will always remain memorable and magical, and will look forward to our next trip.
Perfect location, excellent service, delicious food.”
We had a fantastic stay at Sugar Beach. Received a very warm welcome on arrival. Perfect location. Quality of service was exceptional. Food was delicious. Will definitely be back in the near future.
Great hotel, great staff, great location”
we had a relaxing stay at sugar beach...Flic an Flac is one of the nicest areas in mauritius on the non-windy side of the island.
Very nice hotel with great grounds and pool”
We went here for two nights after our wedding. It was a really nice place to relax and get away from things. It was very well kept and the dinner buffet was amazing (what you expect from the big hotels on the beach). It felt a bit impersonal due to the size, but the staff made great efforts whenever they could. Many even greeted us by name. Overall, a great place for an all inclusive deal (if you have the budget).
Nice for honeymoon”
My husband and I spent a very good time here for our honeymoon. The hotel is very big and the room is clean. They upgraded us for the honeymoon dinner at beach for free which is really a impressive experience. The sunset is so beautiful but the sand has small stones. It's a good option to stay in Mauritius. Will be back again!
Awesome hotel but overpriced drinks”
The stay was tremendous. It is an awesome hotel and one is willing to pay at a 5 star rate. The drinks however are extremely expensive at +- 500% mark up and the fully inclusive option only makes sense if one remains at the hotel all the time and drinks a lot. One can purchase drinks at the local shop and use the bar fridge in the bedroom. The position of the resort is excellent with perfect beaches but the motorboats that travel between resorts are very close to the shore making it unsafe to venture out for snorkelling.
Romantic Getaway or not?”
5/5 location, Staff 4.5/5, Gym 5/5 staff just fabulous run by Mario, Maggie the service was exceptional you are a star. Food: breakfast 5/5 dinner 3.5/5 Saturday night was extremely bad, Rooms are simply not up to standard for the price even with the upgrade. I wouldn't stay here at the moment as they are renovating, and the noise was really bad from one side to the other. I think with the completed renovation, and more attention to the dinner, and after hours entertainment then it’s a great holiday. Then lastly the costs of drinks are ridiculous RS500 per shot its the same cost as a bottle but then this is a 5* resort.
Accommodation is Not 5 Star”
Bathrooms & tiled floor throughout require an update & equivalent to a 3.5 star hotel. Citronella restaurant service very slow & their signature salad & food taste below average & did not contain 3 ingredients. Beach service was slow & after an unreasonably long wait the food order delivered was not what was ordered. Price for 750 ml of bottled water was exhorbitantly high 5 times higher than supermarket price. Only 1 free bottle of water was provided daily to be shared by a couple. We felt after checking out & waiting for our airport pick up that the front desk staff were less accommodating. When asked to provide change for a Euro 50 note we were advised they could only do so by providing MUR & not because they did not have change in euro's. So they were happy to receive cash payments in Euro's & USD's but not give you change in the same currency. A big negative while relaxing on the beach was being constantly harassed by outside vendors trying to sell guests fishing/snorkeling trips, clothing & Jewelry. Overall the resorts staff had a friendly disposition & spoke good English. We were positively impressed by the special activities the resort provided both adults & kids to celebrate the week after Easter Sunday.
Second nigth was better than the first”
We had a great time relaxing and enjoying the facilities. You need to spend more time here to get the most out of it as you only learn half of what is available after the first day. We enjoyed a walk along the beach and some time on the pedalo. It was a really nice hotel to stay in and the pool was the best I'd seen (among the three hotels we stayed at). Lots of families, but otherwise it was paradise
The lovliest hotel and a very attentive staff.”
We stayed here for our 40th wedding anniversary. We were upgraded, spoiled by staff and were left feeling like royalty. Our anniversary meal was beautiful. We were sent champagne and fruit to our room. Received a beautiful cake and card from the hotel stafg. The main restuarant which is beautiful also had fantastic food with a massive choice and the food was hot. (in other hotels it was just lukewarm). Our only regret? We wished we had booked in longer. The hotel is also close to shops and restuarants and a stones throw from Casela adventure park and the Seven Colours Earth. If you hire a car you will find that you are only 1/2 hour from the Bagatella shopping centre and Port Louis.
Great location but be prepared to do some walking.”
The hotel has lovely gardens and everything to make a good beach "chill out" holiday. The food in the restaurants is good but I think you would get fed up with it after a week. Even though it is themed daily, so much is the same every day. There is an alternative, an Italian restaurant but to get a booking is difficult. You can also go to the next door resort if you can get a booking but be prepared to do some walking. The waiting staff are very pleasant, really friendly and helpful. Some of the cooks that serve up the food however have a terrible "couldn't care less" attitude. The grounds are quite extensive and like us you may get a long walk to the restaurant and reception. We were the very furthest away and if you have difficulty walking or are elderly, it could be a problem. (You should point this out when booking.)For most people, it would not be a problem - a bit of exercise. Standard rooms are on first floor and superior on the ground. If you want to walk out from your room directly to the beach, you might want to think about a superior room. It was a nice holiday but five nights was enough.
We enjoyed our 2 day stay there immensely and have vowed to return for a longer stay.”
The only negative was a frustrating issue with the blocked plug hole in the bath...when it was finally fixed, the bath was left uncleaned. This is the reason we have rated "cleanliness" just 3 stars. Otherwise it would have been a 5. (Apart from the maintenance staff) All the staff were wonderful! Very friendly, helpful, and courteous. They went out of their way for us (even after we checked out). Beautiful beach, lots of free activities, great buffet meals, enjoyable entertainment. Loved the pools, loved the whole layout and appearance of the place. Loved the atmosphere. A great bonus was the free access to neighbouring La Pirogue Hotel and free use of the facilities there as well. Above all, it was the staff who made our stay so enjoyable.
Lovely hotel, pricey food”
Sugar beach is beautiful hotel, a bit out of the way but it is a nice getaway hotel. The food is quite pricey so be prepared. The staff was extremely helpful throughout our stay. The beach front is quiet but the sand/water is full of corals that may hurt your feet.
Beautiful huge resort”
The resort provided a lot of activities, daily programs. My friends and I really enjoyed the stay in the resort. They provided many choices of food for the breakfast and dinner and the food changed everyday that we did not feel bored about the food. The room had some little ants and spider and I suggest the resort should get rid of it. Overall the room is clean. The staffs did not greet us whenever we pass by , but overall they were very polite, gentle and helpful. The resort is located like out of the world. It was a bit inconvenient when we wanna go to the grocery shop or money changer or any restaurant outside. We love the swimming pools and the sun set was so beautiful. I would love to recommend it to everyone.
Amazing location and facilities, service from the staff could be better”
Had to ask twice on average for anything to be done - they couldn't cope with the influx of holiday guests, which was disappointing from a 5 star resort. Other than than, great facilities, wonderful beach. I'd still recommend to friends and family.
