Property Needs Some TLC”
I took a small group I was leading to Candidassa on a stop between Gili Trawangan and Ubud. The photos on the Agoda and property websites showed a much fresher property than we encountered. From the moment we got out of our vehicle, the place and vibe was dreary, as if it was lost in time (perhaps the early 80s). The pond was mucky and filled with algae and the furniture in the reception area was musty and stained. The rooms were somewhat better and nice enough, but the bathrooms were dingy. Towels and linens were clean and of good quality. The restaurant was very good. The pool was lovely as were the loungers. The website showed a beach but there was none. The property next door was a vacant lot full of trash and litter. The staff was very kind and treated us well. My guests said the spa and spa treatments were not professional and the spa itself was nothing special. I would not recommend at the prices we paid.
Quiet place to relax”
It is in Candidasa area which is 90min drive from Denpasar airport. Quite far from kuta area but very quiet place to relax and enjoy the sea view. There is no access to sea from the resort but virgin beach is just 15min drive away. We got a 2 way transfer to virgin beach for 270k. Staffs were exceptionally helpful and friendly.
lovely beach front with great pooland grounds”
a lovely propery on the sea - really great villas some with sea view. lovely grounds and a wonderful pool with probably the best lounging pool seats i have ever seen or sat in. very friendly staff - a most enjoyable stay
this resort is a little isolated from the main centre of candi dasa but that is what made this such a great place. Very private and quite, not many people around, the staff were fantastic breakfast was limited but very good. I would not hesitate about coming back
Quality hotel with attentive staff”
Having stayed at several places within Candidasa village we were keen to try one of the resorts in the seafront section south of town. These resorts tend to be several hundred meters down laneways from the busy main road and are therefore considerably quieter locations. The rough laneway approach suggested nothing special ahead but in fact Nirwana is a very nice property with excellent staff. Accommodation is in garden or poolside villas distributed around a nicely tended area. Our garden view villa was one of a quartet of semi-detached dwellings but clever design meant we were seldom aware of neighbours. The room was easily big enough for two plus gear, had quiet aircon which once it cooled the big area was fine, fridge, tea and coffee facilities, a comfy bed with and excellent net, big tv, free wifi, plenty of storage, lots of lights (more for mood than reading), a big bathroom with cute open air shower section, good hot water. The Oceanside rim pool was big enough for lap swimming. The pool and restaurant’s sea view was outstanding with an outlook towards Nusas Lembongan and Penida islands. Food was good with prices maybe 50% up on the average restaurant in town, still a bargain in western terms. The simple but very adequate inclusive breakfast was served on the outside terrace nearest the sea. There is no beach here or anywhere else in the district short of several kms north of Candidasa town. There is a big range of restaurants and shops in the village – the resort runs a free shuttle on request depending on availability and we had no problems each time we booked. Most town restaurants offer free transport back to the resort (and from them once you have their number). There are several fixed price mixed stores with a large array of food, drink, clothing and arty stuff at good prices. We walked to the village once – about 25 minutes. Water and other basics are available less than 10 mins into this walk at a main road minimart.
Tranquility At It's Best”
We arrived at the hotel at almost midnight and was dissapointed that the room service hours is over. And restaurants in the vicinity is also closed. We had to go to sleep hungry yet the sound of the crashing waves in front of our balcony made us at ease. Next morning, those hunger was soon forgotten. We were greeted with the most beautiful ocean view and a pretty garden. Loved the pool and that's where we spent most of out time at. A very nice and relaxing stay with tranquility at it's best!
serene property over looking the beach”
Nirwana is a spectacular hotel. 5 stars in my opinion. 10-15 minute walk into town. i hired a scooter for day. Friendly staff. gorgeous gardens and surrounds. Very quiet. Rooms had all amenities like mini bar, air conditioning, t.v, wi fi, hair dryer etc...
lovely quiet hotel”
a very nice quiet hotel, good for relaxation, pool was very nice, we ate at the resterauant every night and the food was always very good, breakfast was good, the hotel is a long way from town with no real foot pathes if you wish to walk but threr is a shuttle that will take you for about $2. not very much in the way of resteaunts within walkingdistance of this hotel. one complaint like all Asian hotels the beds a very hard
Beautiful hotel with stunning ocean views.”
This is our favourite hotel in Candidasa. Set in well tended tropical gardens the bungalows benefit from the stunning backdrop of the ocean and beach (worth spending the extra to stay in a Beach Front Bungalow). Breakfast is a la carte and the service efficient and friendly. My favourite breakfast of our trip was here at Nirvana Resort.
Would have been awesome ten years ago”
Staff here were super friendly. We found the food to be excellent. We had our breakfast cooked for us: the juices were all freshly made. Yum! The location was OK, and there is a shuttle into town. However, too many negs for this place: we moved for something special the final night. Upon entrance you will see a water feature covered in green algae, the tiles surrounding the pool are mineral stained and the pool needed attention. The floor of the room had a weird slipperyness, and the bathroom was dying for a do-over. The safe had flat batteries. The sheets and towels were old. Our room was right in front of the sea wall, so it sounded like a tsunami might enter while sleeping. There were only 4 rooms occupied out of 18. They must have nice memories of better days. The final straw: upon asking why no soap in the room: no one has any. Management have known for 2 months!!! So sad for the staff here. Lovely people...
This was our 2nd stay at this resort and we loved it yet again. The staff are wonderful and made us feel at home. The view is gorgeous. Close to town. The rooms are large and comfortable. Cannot wait to return.
The resort itself is very nice and the view over the sea is beautiful. But there is not much else to do in walking distance (but they do offer a free shuttle into the city - just ask the receptionists). Food in the restaurant was very good but a bit pricy. We got a good discount on the rate via Agoda. Paying the full room rate would would have been too expensive for what we got.
Great but isolated.”
Pros: -great view, great lunch and dinner -try the Balinese plate it’s awesome! , great drinks but not much variety, great message specially the hot stone, big 2 persons chanselons, plenty hot water , great cleaning, friendly staff-but with very limited English, nice pool, sand beach and great when waves are not wild, be very careful! Cons: -the resort is isolated, you have to go through a long stoned and semi dirty road to come to main road, and on this road many dogs who belong to local and barking. The locals are very friendly, but no one does anything with dogs. So if you feel uncomfortable walking alongside barking dogs, you need to get a taxi for any kind of leaving. -the beach is wild. Very high waves, stone around you where some of them very smooth. You have to be a good swimmer and be very careful of the waves -the breakfast is not so great. The coffee in general all over is not great.
Amazing does'nt say enough”
The best resort I have ever stayed at in Bali and I have been to many. We had a beachfront hut that was very spacious and clean. The sea breeze keeps the humidity down and the sound of the waves is totally relaxing. The restaurant provides a good range of quality food although the breakfast was from a set menu and not a buffet. The restaurant is close to the beachfront huts and the pool so very convenient. The location is out of the main town but 30000rph ($3-00) with hotel transport. Walkable if you are keen. (3km's) Will definitely be back to this resort.
Great resort to relax”
Beautifull hotel grounds. Very quiet. Romantic. Food is very good and at very reasonable prices allowing one to try many dishes. Good nstural juices and extracts. Clean pool. Good villas. Impressive value. Free shuttle to town if needed at any time. Good staff. Pictures dont do justice to the hotel. Much better than expectes. Would return for a longer stay ( stayed 3 nights).
Because the beach has eroded, most of the hotels in Candidasa sit on a sea wall that looks directly onto the sea, but there is no beach. If you are somebody like me who likes to look at the sea, smell the sea and hear the sea but does not necessarily need to swim in the sea, then this is the perfect spot for you. This resort is beautiful, quiet and relaxing. Some bungalows have an unobstructed view of the sea. The swimming pool looks natural and beautiful. I could not work out if it is supposed to be fresh water or whether it was in need of some more chlorine. Either way, it was lovely to swim in. The restaurant serves good food and looks straight onto the sea also. The bungalows are a little tired but the sea view and overall setting make up for this. Free shuttle taxi to and from town. Very reasonable price for what you get.
A really nice hideaway ”
If you want a place where it is nice/quiet and be away from the tourist areas this is the place to go. Pick the villa's with the ocean view, it is amazing to wake up and see the ocean from your villa. The villa's are a bit run down and need some maintenance but it is still a charming place. You can walk to Candidasa village in 10-15 min.The stAff
We had a garden bungalow (206), which was at the end of the lane. That felt super secluded and no one could see our terrace. For us this was a big plus and made us feel like we were the only ones there. Bed was huge, clean and comfy! Shower was good and all was clean. Different choices in breakfast and a sitting area that looks out on the sea...! Staff was friendly, would def stay again!
Resort in Candidasa”
Bad road to the place. The pictures in Agoda are very beautiful, actually not the same with this small resort. We couldn't sleep well because many mosquitos in our room, because the bathroom has an open ventilation. No beach. Not happy there.
booked the room very last minute..access is bit adventurous thru local village which we were OK with that, warm welcome, nice layout, stress relieve after driving from Sanur when you see the scenery from the lobby, it was bit showery. room is OK in term of size, bathroom size is OK but need to relook at the open air area as rain spills out into your bathtub. 4 bottles of small size mineral waters, good. welcome fresh chilled fruit platter, nice. big bed size for us. maintenance needed: wooden curtain, bath shower hook. more floor mat needed (entrance floor, bathroom door) as it was raining. restaurant: meals was good in term of size, taste and price. staffs were very friendly and accommodating. breakfast was good. need to consider not charging meal for kid under 10 or 5 pool: good, need signage of pool depth.
