Villa Away Away's Pererepan touches my heart! ”
one of the most memorable villas i have stayed in. not just the amazing bamboo structure, the surrounding, the the day view and the night view are all so memorable. during the night i can see countless stars in the sky. i see fireflies too! the sound of river water running from far down. in the sound of the nature is right beside me. in the noon time i can see moon and the sun at the same time. a pack of about 30 monkeys migrating over the roof and jump from one tree to another right in front of my eyes. it is just so beautiful! this is one villa that will stay in my heart and never be forgotten.
This place is simply amazing. There are places to stay in Bali that are more posh and more expensive but for sheer natural splendour, I can't see how Villa Prererepan at Villa Awang Awang can be topped. We got a personal escort/tour at no charge (from the manager, no less) to the river below, where we were the only people - where else does that happen unless you're a celebrity or paying a fortune! Staff that go above and beyond. Romantic jungle bliss. We WILL be back :-)
Dear David, thank-you for your very positive review. We are very happy that you enjoyed the stay . The tour down to the river is from all the staff.
HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE; DATED AND UNSANITARY”
Reserved 2 bedroom villa for 2 nights. My husband and I were not able to make it to the reservation on the 1st night so 2 of our friends took a bedroom each&one of them was leaving the next day. On the 2nd day as we were checking in the receptionist informed us that we would need to pay addtional USD50 because we have 3 people in the 2 bedroom villa. I guess when I made the reservation it automatically selected "2 persons" that I wasn't aware of until our arrival. We were unhappy about it because each bedroom has a queen bed and seems odd because it's not like we have 5-6 people. We got back to the hotel at 10:30pm. We noticed hotel staff brought ONE fresh towel and did not remove the old towels away. Towels and sheets had many yellow spot. We did not shower that night because no staff was on duty at night and security said they ran out of fresh towels. A 18cm worm was also in the shower area. Barely slept. They still charged us $35 extra for the unpleasant stay. 3 Star hotel, not 4!
Dear Jessica, it is quite clear when making a booking that the base price is for 2 guests and that each extra guest is charged USD50 per person.3 people came on the first day, when questioned, staff were told one would not be staying the night- only visiting for the afternoon.. They did, however ,all 3 stay and extra payment was therefore requested ( as a gesture of good will, the extra person rate was discounted to USD35 ).We have a towel policy to save water and resources- (clearly displayed in each bathroom) Towels are not changed every day unless placed on the floor or in the bath-tub.We have full staff on duty until 11pm. The security man on duty from 11pm does not have access to the store room. The villas are cleaned and serviced daily and we strongly refute your assertion that your villa was "unsanitary "
I love the ambience, the villa is unique and clean, the staff very nice .”
The lighting must be added at night, so not to be darken
Villa Awang Awang is a perfect stay for a unique experience set in the rainforest. Our experience was special and it was completely unexpected. It is not a luxury villa, if that is what you're looking for! Our room had no aircon, but it gets chilly at night (we were there in August 2018) and the view is phenomenal. We enjoyed our stay and would certainly consider returning.
Wonderful Location, accomodation and private pool”
We loved the location in the jungle where a troop of monkeys visited us one morning. We chose Villa Merah of the accomodation options and it did not disappoint. It was huge and we loved all the intricate carvings in this uthentic old relocated building. And the private pool was unbelievable perched over the valley and jungle. The staff were always friendly and happy to leave us alone to relax, that being what we were there for. A place we would gladly revisit.
Location is beautiful, peaceful nature away from busy Ubud with lovely views of rainforest. Very special to be taken into local rice paddies, river swim, local ceremony by staff member Quack (?!) - he was wonderful! Staff also very helpful preparing food for our children with allergies. Villa Mehla, whilst unique with stunning timber carvings - is not very relaxing. Dim, a little damp downstairs and lots of hard wood furniture - not enough soft furnishings to chill in (possibly too damp). Also, because the 3 bedrooms downstairs can only be accessed externally our children didn’t feel
Need maintenance and improvement
Lovely staff, very friendly and helpful. Beautiful villa set on the cliffs overlooking a river. So very peaceful amongst nature. Breakfast was great, dinner not so but there is a shuttle into town.
Needs update ”
Nice view but getting a bit tired , great staff !!
Dear Michelle , thank-you for taking the time to write a review. We are happy you appreciated our wonderful staff and the views . We do carry out regular maintenance and have just renewed several things in the villa , re-surfaced the floor, replaced railings etc . We hope you come again to enjoy the refreshed look villa , kind regards , Ann & staff.
Best place to enjoy nature”
We stayed in Vila Pererepan. It is a beautiful Vila constructed with natural materials. There is no TV which is good. :-) It has a private pool with the Forest view. Just be aware of ants. You drop some eatable (or even keep it open) and then ants own that. No one to be blamed for this one. The staff is awesome and friendly. The food is also delicious.
We had planned to stay her the final night of our 2-week honeymoon in Bali, and I was so, so happy that it did not disappoint. Often the hotels we stayed at did not match at all with the pictures shown on Agoda, but the Perereban Villa was absolutely perfect. It is just as stunning as it looks, with a private pool, gorgeous private hut with amazing architecture, and our own private dining terrace. The staff was so friendly and generous, and really made it feel like our only job was to just hang out there in our own private jungle treehouse and let them do everything for us! They asked us to call our dinner order in 2 hours in advance so they'd have time to go to the market, buy the ingredients, prepare everything for us, and walk it down to our little dining terrace. There is a long beautiful path down to the villa which really makes it feel private and secluded. They were precisely on time with both dinner and breakfast so we could really enjoy our privacy, and also brought us whatever fresh juices and beers we wanted during the afternoon while we enjoyed the gorgeous afternoon and pool. This villa really is right in the middle of the jungle and one of my favorite parts was waking up in the middle of the night to the sounds of all the jungle creatures, though the bed does have a canopy screen so we weren't worried about any critters getting into bed with us. It's a really wonderful close-to-nature experience and worth every penny.
Beautiful resort and amazingly friendly staff. Would definitely recommend
Echo Villa that needs some maintenance”
Staff were very accomodating, private pool and the view were amazing Property need serious maintenance (huge tearing in the wire mesh screen, huge gap in the door)
Dear Stella , thank-you for taking the time to write a review about Villa Pererepan .We have replaced the wire mesh screen you mentioned . Due to the unique bamboo construction the doors and windows do have gaps . This is not a maintenance issue but the design of the building .We do advise guests that the structure is open and will not suit all guests . KInd regards, Ann ( owner )
Overpriced and over-advertised ”
Pros: The area Cons: Everything else. The villa needs some serious renovation (actually, I would suggest reconstruction). In the pictures it looked beautiful, but in reality: the bathroom's celling was heavily leaking, there were huge gaps between the windows (inviting all shorts of creatures and insects to come inside), the humidity inside the room was tremendous, the lights were so dim you could not see anything, there were no lights either at the pool nor in the (30 or so) steps (thank god we had our cell phones), and the staff although kind and willing did not do anything (they could hardly understand English). All in all, we paid good money for nothing. As a final note, the villa is advertised as eco friendly. How eco friendly is a place that in the bathroom, instead of having a roof it has a huge (leaking) piece of plastic? What I believe is that the owners really meant to say "poorly maintained to the point of being a wreck..."
Dear Manos ,we are sorry you were disappointed in our eco-villa. We do take our guest's experiences into account and always work on improving any shortcomings .In response to your review : 1. We acknowledge and apologize that due to very heavy unseasonable rain there was a leak in the bathroom roof , this has now been rectified . 2. The doors work on a pivot system to allow the villa to be fully opened up to the river breeze and enable air circulation .This prevents build- up of humidity. 3 On our web-site we make it very clear that due to the construction and open plan, guests may be visited by the odd frog or gecko and it will not suit guests who are concerned about small creatures and insects . 4 There are lights in the walls all along the pathway of steps down to the house . We have tested them all and they are all working . 5 We carry out regular maintenance , the villa was completely re-built & re-roofed 18 months ago - and is certainly not " a wreck "
Too many steps but it is worth it. Enjoyed my breakfast. Feel very close to nature.
Great design, lack of maintenance ”
When we arrived at villa awang awang our room was not ready but the staff was kind enough to bring us to a larger villa for the night until the room I rented was Ready The best thing about the hotel was the staff. They were very accommodating and happy to give advice on things to do in the area. One gentleman from the hotel took us on a tour of the Waterfall below. Worst thing about the hotel was the lack of maintenance. We stayed in several villas in ubud and I do understand you are in nature and there will be bugs but there were ant infestations in both of our rooms. The bugs are harmless but they infested out laundry (which the staff cleaned free of charge) and my cosmetic bag and purse, ruining the leather bag. A lot of the other hotels spray weekly to help stop this from happening. There is also a native bug that makes an incredibly loud irritating buzZing noise for half of the day. If you plan on sticking around the property in the afternoon, just be ready for it.
Worst experience in Bali I ever had”
Transport ridiculously overpriced, substandardized service. Dishonest staff that will just lie about your stay just to cover their own terrible mistakes. Stay away from this place. Hotel staff is full of lies and they won't hesitate to put you down. Totally unreliable.
Please see our response to this guest on another well known site for travellers, under "poor reviews " There is not enough space allowed here to enter our full response which refutes these libellous and false claims .
Great Exprience and very helpful staff”
11/10 for the staff. An AC in the villa may be a welcome addition.
Dear Nirav , than-you for sharing your experience. Most guests find the villa comfortable as it is specially designed to catch and circulate the breeze up from the river . Some months in the dry season you will even need a blanket at night. We are also situated at higher altitude than Ubud even so are always somewhat cooler.Best wsihes , staff at Awang Awang
