Convenient for Tourism”
We've stayed here many times and for our personal convenience it's ideal. The hotel has a nice swimming-pool and sports facilities, well maintained and very clean. Some areas of the hotel were looking worn, especially on the staircase. The room we had this time was clean and had an ironing-board and iron with a wide-screen tv -- which we found extremely difficult to operate as there was no manual or written instructions! We had to ask Reception to send someone up to show us how to operate it! It has USB and HDMI connections. The bed was comfortable and tea and good quality coffee provided with nice size mugs! We'd booked with Agoda but paid the hotel. We were told that due to lack of vacant rooms we had to have a family room -- at extra expense. However, we only had a 'double' room and I'm not sure if I have to take up the difference with Agoda or the Hotel! Lovely grounds but unfortunately very few rooms overlook them. There is a restaurant and bar but due to the many wonderful restaurants in Leeds I've not eaten there for many years. Very handy access out of Leeds to visit York, Harrogate, the moors, Knaresborough, etc., etc. It's a popular venue for weddings and the three days we were there there were three weddings -- but this didn't bother us. They've automated booking-in with computer screens and consequently only have ONE person on the Reception Desk! The young man on the day shift was run ragged and was constantly trying to attend to a queue of four or more people with problems/queries every time we passed! He did a terrific job but no one likes waiting for more than 10 minutes just to have a problem resolved! This was totally inadequate and something needs to be done there! It's expensive for the value of rooms but there are few other hotels with adequate parking available and in a convenient position so . . .!

It's a Posh Lodge”
1. Location; 2. Convenience; 3. ?
We have stayed here on many occasions as it is a convenient location for my visits to Leeds. (We normally stay for 2 or 3 nights.) Some rooms are good, some average, some poor. On this occasion we were given Room 106 which was good: clean and equipped with a kettle, mugs, iron and ironing-board. There were plenty of coat-hangers in the cupboard. One of the better rooms. There are only 2 pillows (2 extras would be appreciated). Parking can be a problem at times (but you can always find a space) as there are many visitors to the Gym and swimming-pool (with sauna and steam room) (but recently they've made a £5 CHARGE to Hotel Residents!!!). We tend not to use the pool as many times in the past there have been swimming-clubs there at the times convenient to us (also, £5 to pay for a swim seems steep at when paying £83+ per night!). We found the bed comfortable. The bathroom was light and clean but the shower is in the bath (I don’t know why hotels have a bath fitted!). There was a reasonably sized old flat-screen tv but no USB or HDMI sockets! There are very limited tv programmes which is poor: I don’t understand why they don’t get Freeview. There’s a Bar where you can get bar-food, and a restaurant that has an adequate menu and a few selections for children. We’ve had breakfast here previously: it’s buffet and has the usual grill items and Continental. The outside looks as though it needs some repainting around the window facades and inside is in need of work to tidy it up. It’s not too far from the City Centre and the Armoury and it has easy access for other places such as York and Knaresborough, etc. I’ll stay again due to its convenience but I always consider it a posh Lodge (Some rooms that aren’t as good as a Lodge’s!). I’m always surprised at the cost – it seems very expensive for what you get!

Not Bad”
Location. Pool. Free Parking.
We've stayed here on a number of occasions. It's convenient for us as it's very close to family that we visit. Also it gives good quick access to York, Harrogate, Knaresborough, etc. We tend only to have breakfast here if it's included in an offer; when we have it's been ok. The rooms are of an adequate size. On our last stay we had a new room which was better than the 'average'. I think we were upgraded as it was available, but if the price wasn't excessive I'd book it again. The room was clean but on every occasion we've stayed there the backs of the tv sets are absolutely filthy and are never cleaned (small point?). I do not know why there are no Freeview channels available; the available programmes are very limited. Overall, apart from the pool and gym, restaurant and bar it's a 3-star Travelodge. We'll stay again as it's convenient - but it's not cheap.

We were visiting relatives.”
Position. Car parking.
We were visiting relatives that lived close by so position was ideal. It was close to the ring road and gives easy access to other areas and airport. Due to many business meetings there and the leisure club members parking, I found it difficult finding a parking space. The Reception staff were very friendly. The room was adequate but there was no remote control for the TV and I had to get one from Reception. The TV had had ALL it's cables removed for some reason. The sound quality of the TV was poor and there was a very poor selection of programs available. No cable movies. The swimming-pool was very good and big with sauna, two jacuzis, and a steam room -- very good! Only had breakfast there which was very good quality for me.

Too hot!”
Location, facilities and price.
As in the past the facilities are good and the staff friendly. However, this year we became aware of some disappointing elements. Firstly the new dinning room may be trendy, Italian feel, but it is very badly organise, craped and the staff have all be trained to use the same patter and if we were asked whether we were enjoying our meal one more time I would have screamed. I had a very plain and tasteless pizza, so it was hardly necessar5y or appropriate. Overall the hotel looks tired. The carpets, walls etc are in need of decoration and replacement. The final grouse was we realised, due to the heat wave, that there was no air conditioning. The windows opened about two centimetres and there was a tiny fan in the room. As a result, I have never slept in so hot a room and we come from Perth Western Australia. My wife doesn't want to come back and stay there again and she never complains. I love the location and it is great to visit the beautiful countryside, city and friends and relatives. Parking is good and free wifi good.

Somewhat overpriced”
Good position for attending a large family event
The staff at reception were very friendly and our room was a good size but the complimentary toileteries turned out to be a dispenser on the wall containing a combined body and hair wash;I expected better at the price. Breakfast was only average - the fruit salad was a boring mix of apple and white melon but the fried breakfast was quite good. The spa area was good but I felt that, overall, the hotel did not represent good value for money. Apart from the spa this hotel was no better than a Premier Inn but more than twice the price.
