Everything was perfect. Great location, near to everything in Chawaeng. Two swimmingpools, and direct access to the beach with the hotel providing sunbeds, beachtowels and parasols. Excellent breakfast buffé.
After reading so many reviews of different hotels/resorts/accommodations, we picked Chaba which is now Matcha Samui Resort. A bit disappointed with our experience here compared to what I’ve read. First of all we had no idea of name change until we were flying out the day before and double checking everything, no email notification so I emailed hotel to confirm our booking which was fine. Since arriving to hotel, we constantly having to ask for basic amenities such as hand towels, floor towels, no shower caps, ear buds til two days in, no face cloths were given in the room. No water replacement which is complimentary. We booked king bed Seaview room which looks spacious in the photo, the bathroom cannot even fit two person in it and we’re average size people. The room is comfortable enough, there’s no enclosed wardrobe, just a rail with hangers, there a small lounge to sit. To get the view you would have to stand on balcony. There’s a small tv in the room, the only channel that supposed to have English speaking movie isn’t available or updated otherwise it’s all dubbed in Thai except for the news channel. Breakfast is basic, there’s eggs station , toast, crunchy bacon, some cheese, yogurt, fruits which is the same everyday. Tea and percolated coffee available but we love our decent strong coffee so we go out to coffee places outside to get better coffee. The swimming pool is disappointing, there’s no atmosphere, empty in the middle bit. Very open space and hot even with umbrella. Most people sit on the beach which has better atmosphere, people watching, swimming or getting massages next door on the beach hut. Oh and no happy hour here!! All in all we expected a bit more for the price we paid and having been here and walked around looking at other places I would try other place to stay in the same location. Staff here are polite and friendly .
Loved this hotel! Very nice ground floor rooms which were so roomy. Bathroom is tiny though. Clean and neat. Pool is good and leads onto beach. Stayed ocean side not lakeside and had no issues with noise. Breakfast was not amazing but definitely sufficient. Would definitely stay again.
The atmosphere by the poolside and beach was nice, and we had a great time for 7 days with our 1-year-old! We would like to use it again. Here are some points: - Good and convenient location - The pool is always clean, and there is a shallow pool, making it easy for small children to play - The staff is friendly, but there were a few instances where requests for room cleaning were not communicated - Breakfast is simple, as mentioned in other reviews, and a bit unsatisfactory, but not to the point of complaint - The shower ran out of hot water midway, but they repaired it quickly - The air conditioning is difficult to fine-tune

The hotel maintains high cleanliness standards, ensuring a comfortable and hygienic environment for guests. Not gonna lie but this hotel wasn't our first choice but so happy that we went with Matcha in the end. They have an amazing pool to unwind and relax. Whether enjoying a leisurely swim or lounging poolside if the sea is rough. Additionally, the hotel's culinary offerings are amazing and decent prices. From traditional Thai cuisine to international favorites, every meal is a culinary delight Adjacent to the hotel is the Orca Massage, offering guests the opportunity to further indulge in relaxation and rejuvenation(Aloe vera massage and thai massaga), Orca Massage provides the perfect way to realx after a day in the sun. I had a sprain ankle and they treated my ankle without any extra cost or me even mentioning it. The ladies are funny and amazing. Treat them with respect. Overall, the Matcha Hotel in Thailand provides a memorable and enjoyable experience, combining friendly service, cleanliness, delicious food, and luxurious amenities for a truly unforgettable stay. You can tell the hotel had a remodeling lately. I would go there again in a heart beat. Just bear in mind that a deposit of 2000 THB is required when you check-in per room in case you do damage to the rooms that you get back at check-out.
