Reasonable rate, clean room, but location wise not the nearest to Sukhbaataar Square, the pub is closed for renovation. Staffs were friendly and helpful

Although I had pre-booked there seemed confusion about my booking The 7th was smelling of strong cigarette smoke During the early morning around 2 to 3am there was a lot of noise from rooms adjacent to mine Poor sleep for me My booking was supposed to include breakfast however no breakfast was forthcoming So the hotel deal was below advertised deal! Reception staff did not wear masks as per world of Covid Generally disappointed

My room was supposed to have two beds; it only had one. Air conditioner did not work. Pool was closed. Gym closed. Lounge did not exist. coffee shop was open but many times there was no one there to serve you. Massage was closed. I believe the place was being renovated, but I did not see any construction. Staff was friendly and the food in the restaurant was great. Breakfast buffet was ok. I would probably pick a different place next time.

They kept making mistakes on my booking, first they wanted me to check out two days early, then they refused my breakfast one mourning that is included on my booking, and then they tried to charge me for my friends breakfast which was included I’m my booking and lastly they charged me for taxi service from airport but they never picked me up. J had to get my own taxi. Just too many mistakes.

Not what I expected”
The main reason I chose the Chinggis Khaan Hotel was that it had a swimming pool and sauna. I was very disappointed that they were closed for maintenance during my stay. The receptionist who I spoke to told me they would re-open next month, which meant I could not use them. The room was big and comfortable, but my toilet seat was partly broken. The room was clean, but I noticed two flies in my room on my first night. There was a well-stocked mini bar, but the water was not complimentary, only the tea and instant coffee.There was direct access to a shopping centre across from the hotel, but on one day access from inside the hotel was closed, so I had to go outside and walk to the shopping centre. The breakfast buffet was good, but there were never any scrambled eggs and though you could often have an omelette, you couldn't have it made according to your specifications. The employee just made omelettes and left them for guests to take. There was brewed coffee, but it wasn't very good. On the last two days of my stay, there was no breakfast buffet. No explanation was given. Maybe the chef got sick, but at the very least, I thought the hotel could have compensated its guests in some way. There was free wi-fi in my room, but for the last three days of my stay, it didn't work well, In fact, it didn't work at all on the last day of my stay and there was no wi-fi access in the lobby. There was supposedly a Mongolian restaurant on the fifth floor, but I never saw any guests eating there except in the morning when the breakfast buffet was offered. Also unfortunate is that there was no menu for the Mongolian restaurant. On the first floor there was a Chinese restaurant, but I didn't eat there. The hotel is very quiet, but it's a little far from downtown. It takes ten to fifteen minutes to get downtown on foot. The staff speak good English, so communication is not a problem. In my opinion, this hotel is a little expensive. In hindsight, I wish I'd chosen a different hotel.

Just okay. No major issues”
You can really see that the hotel has been around for quite a while. Nothing is terrible or broken, but it's just oddly designed (try looking for the breakfast area and you will know what I mean). We were upgraded to a one-room suite which was very spacious. UB isn't very big so even though the hotel is not in the central part of town, it's very close by car. Can't comment on taxi service since we rented a car. Best part of this hotel is that it is directly linked to the Sky Department Store, which surprisingly has a nice section in the supermarket that sells reasonably priced souvenirs (I found the range and prices to be better than at the airport). You can also buy groceries there. Check-in and check-out took some time. Also, the exchange rates at the hotel front desk were pretty exorbitant. You can get a much better rate at local money changers or banks (we had a local friend who brought us to do that). The entire pool/spa area is closed. Don't know if and when it will be reopened.

Chinggis Khaan Hotel Review”
I stayed here for 4 nights (standard single room) in mid-September and felt that it was a comfortable stay but with room for improvements. Pros: Front line staff speaks good English so communication is not a problem. Room is well insulated for cold weather. Each room has a router so no worries on getting low strength wifi signals. Bed and comforter is soft and warm enough. Cable TV is always appreciated (yay to HBO). Enough power points in the room. If you had forgotten to bring an universal adapter, fret not, there is one provided in the room. I love their wireless lighting system. They have sufficient lights in the room and you can choose between yellow and white light, real nice. Housekeeping is really nice, appreciate coming back to a neat room after a day in the office. It is connected to a departmental store which makes it convenient and safe if you need to pick something up. Caffe Ti Amo serves up some nice lattes. Cons: Mineral water is not provided and is chargeable from the mini bar. I would suggest picking up a large bottle of mineral water from the departmental store because the tap water will smell, look (yellowish) and taste a little funny. There is no ironing board in the room. Some maintenance needed for the shower head in the bathroom as it is a little broken. Water sprays everywhere if I were to increase the water flow. Pillows are lacking the fluff (i.e. can be quite flat) but this is subjective. TV screen quality is really bad (lots of static and pixels). Overall, it was a pleasant and comfortable experience. You can't set the expectations too high for the basic standard single room.

Staff particularly at the reception were helpful, friendly and patient. Airport reception arrangements for newcomers were commended. Buffet was excellent having regard to the room charge including breakfast.

As I commented in an earlier appraisal the restaurant staff were amongst the rudest people we have ever come across, a couple staying in the hotel and the looks and attitude that was served up to my wife is beyond necessary, then demanding that she paid for her breakfast and treated like a street girl, breakfast was included in the booking along with the 2 people option...shame

Big hotel with a department store inside, convenient to shop for necessary items, i.e. water, snacks, etc. Hotel has construction ongoing during my stay, started at 7am and went until late at night (I could hear them knocking down metals at past midnight. Air condition in my room cannot be controlled, so I had to leave windows opened ... with the noise, it was really annoying.
